“They must be from detoxification…”
Detoxification was already a difficult process, one that Huo Yi had never experienced, but he knew about it.
He just didn’t understand how Ye Ranran could have gotten involved with drugs in the first place. Wasn’t she originally far from those dark circles?
Huo Yi wasn’t sure when the military doctor had left. He just stood by the bedside until Ye Ranran woke up.
Ye Ranran’s eyes were dazed when she first awoke, resembling the morning sky veiled in a thin mist, not particularly clear.
It took a while for her gaze to sharpen, “Is that you? What are you doing here?”
“Don’t move,” Huo Yi placed his hand on her shoulder.
He didn’t use much force, but Ye Ranran knew that if she struggled again, he would not hesitate to apply more pressure in the next second.
Ye Ranran cald down.
She took a look around and realized that the surroundings were excessively simple. Then, looking at Huo Yi’s attire, she pieced together her own circumstances.
“Did you save ?” She asked with a questioning tone but a certain inflection.
“If not , then who else would it be?” Huo Yi stood up and walked over to the wardrobe, rummaging around.
Ye Ranran didn’t know what he was looking for, nor did she know what to say next.
Just as silence was about to claim the entire room, she spoke again, “Thank you.”
“Why be so formal? After all, you’re my sister-in-law, we’re family, aren’t we?” Huo Yi returned empty-handed and closed the wardrobe door.
“I’ll go get you so clothes; the ones you’re wearing are torn,” Huo Yi picked up the phone.
“No…”
Huo Yi’s grasp on the phone was distant, but Ye Ranran could still sense his almost imperceptible chill, “Your clothes are torn and dirty, are you sure you want to keep wearing them?”
She didn’t want him to change them, though.
Ye Ranran couldn’t bring herself to say those words out loud and just pursed her lips in silence.
“I’ll have a female soldier co to change you,” Huo Yi seed to read her mind.
Ye Ranran felt a blush on her face, not sure if it was from embarrassnt or sothing else.
The female soldier was ecstatic when she received Huo Yi’s call. She was responsible for logistics and, since Huo Yi often went out on missions causing his clothes to tear frequently, almost every mission required a change of clothes.
She saw this as an opportunity to get close to him, but he was never personable or interested in won. Even if she walked naked in front of him, he wouldn’t bat an eye.
Now that he had personally called for her, the female soldier was overjoyed.
But why did he also ask her to bring a change of clothes? Could it be…
The female soldier was thrilled.
Only when she arrived did she realize it was not as she had imagined.
“My friend is hurt, help her change her clothes,” Huo Yi introduced Ye Ranran to her this way.
He didn’t call her his sister-in-law, fearing troubles. A friend would not provoke much speculation.
It seed like an explanation, but Ye Ranran knew he was helping her.
In her eyes, a hint of amusent appeared.
Not for anything else, just for his kindness.
After all the glamour, she could be friends with Gao Han, and if Huo Yi allowed it, she could also consider him family.
Once the clothes were changed, Huo Yi went to make dumplings for Ye Ranran.
“This is all I have here; you’ll have to make do,” Huo Yi said while cooking the dumplings.
He wore an apron, stood in the kitchen, holding a spatula, his usually imperious and untouchable deanor now mingled with a bit of the kitchen’s smoke and fus.
“I’m not picky,” Ye Ranran said.
“Really? How co I rember you don’t eat leeks, or pork intestines, or Mao blood soup, or bullfrogs…”
