Chapter 1253: Chapter 1176: Shallow Fate
The bed was still a wooden bed, and the floor was still tiled. Except for the necessary table and chairs, there were no other decorations in the room.
Huo Yi brought in a basin of water, brushed the hair off Ye Ranran’s face, and helped her clean the mud from her face.
He noticed that she was even thinner than before.
How did Jun Mochan take care of her? Had he been abusing her? Huo Yi pursed his lips, his brows furrowing like mountains.
After cleaning her face, he moved on to her hands.
He helped her roll up her sleeves, revealing the marks left by tight bindings.
A strong sense of anger grew in Huo Yi’s eyes as he rolled up her sleeves entirely; so marks had faded, but new ones had appeared.
Her arm, once white like lotus root, was now covered with scars, terrifyingly.
Because of tumbling down, so had fresh blood on them.
Huo Yi’s hand moved up to her shoulder, reached her collar, and just as he was about to start unbuttoning her shirt, he paused, seemingly thinking of sothing.
Their fate had long ended, and though he was now helping her check her wounds, it still wasn’t proper.
If she knew, she wouldn’t see him again and would probably even hate him.
Huo Yi withdrew his hand and made a phone call to summon the military doctor.
When the military doctor received Huo Yi’s call, thinking he was the one injured, he hurried over imdiately, followed by Fan Er.
Fan Er’s real na was Fan Zhen, but everyone called him Fan Er.
Fan Er was training on the field when he saw the military doctor rushing over and casually asked what was happening. After learning it was Huo Yi who had called, he imdiately followed.
Knowing that Huo Yi hardly ever summoned him, could it be that Huo Yi was seriously ill or injured?
If that were the case, he would definitely take another stab.
“Major Fan, what’s the matter?” Huo Yi blocked Fan Er’s path like a mountain.
Fan Er’s eyes darted up and down, glanced at Huo Yi, and said, “I heard the major general was injured, so I ca to check.”
“Who told you I was injured?”
“Wasn’t the military doctor called?”
“Does calling the military doctor an I am injured? Can’t I just have sothing to ask him?” Huo Yi’s face showed little emotion, but being a man accustod to life-and-death situations and responsible for countless lives, he exuded an unmistakable aura of solemnity.
Even without showing much, it was more than most people could bear.
Fan Er looked him in the eyes for a few seconds and admitted defeat.
“What’s the matter?” he glanced sideways.
“I don’t think I need to explain to you.”
With that, Fan Er admitted defeat. Huo Yi had more military achievents and a higher rank than him; he had always been the one to dominate. When was it his turn to question the other?
The door was forcefully closed by Fan Er.
“All right, there’s no one here now, let’s go in.”
Huo Yi led the dical officer to Ye Ranran, standing three steps away from her with his hands clasped behind his back: “Please take a look at her.”
The military doctor didn’t dare hesitate. He carefully examined Ye Ranran, becoming more shocked the more he examined.
“What illness does she have?” Huo Yi asked.
The military doctor hesitated.
“Just tell the truth.”
“The external injuries are relatively minor, but preliminary assessnt suggests she’s been poisoned, though it seems not exactly right, there’s sothing else mixed in, but I’m not sure because there hasn’t been a test done.”
Confirming poisoning required a narcotics test report; he was rely judging based on her condition that she had been poisoned.
Huo Yi’s body trembled, his face mask beginning to crack and finally collapsing. However, he suppressed himself firmly, leaving only a very distressed look that the military doctor could perceive.
