"I see..." Kojou muttered with an intrigued expression as Saeko gave him a brief explanation of her condition.

As Kojou had initially suspected, Saeko was a shard of Lucifer—or, to be more precise, a human who had managed to fuse with a fragnt of Lucifer's soul.

With a quick inspection, Kojou discovered that the shard was indeed rging with Saeko's soul. It seed that it had been wandering from one person to another in search of the perfect host, and apparently, its choice had fallen on Saeko.

The reason for choosing Saeko as the host for Lucifer's soul fragnt was rather simple. First, the spirit that had chosen her lacked an ego of its own, which made it seek out souls with similar wavelengths—ones that possessed an innate intent for killing and destruction. After moving from host to host for thousands of years, it had finally settled on Saeko, whose soul carried that very intent. It was sothing Saeko herself had discovered a few years ago when she found enjoynt in torturing a molester who had tried to assault her.

"But I have to admit, you're truly remarkable. This is the first ti a human has been able to rge to such an extent with the soul of a divine being—even if it's just a fragnt," Kojou said, staring at her with curiosity. "Not to ntion, you can even access my mories as Lucifer."

Although Kojou was deeply intrigued by Saeko's soul and its ability to rge so well with a Lucifer fragnt, his greater interest lay in how she could access Lucifer's mories. Aside from himself—Lucifer's reincarnation—no one else should have been able to do so.

"If even you don't know, how could I?" Saeko shrugged lightly, her initial fear and anxiety toward Kojou completely gone now that she knew he was the embodint of Lucifer, and not the cruel Lucifer of the past. "But maybe the Guild knows sothing—or maybe they're even the reason. I was invited to join the Guild because of the Lucifer soul fragnt, after all."

Indeed, Saeko was also a mber of the Dinsional Guild. In fact, she had been the one to post the mission that Kojou and the others had accepted. mbers could post missions in exchange for paying GP, and that was exactly what Saeko had done.

"Well, I don't think dwelling on it will get us anywhere," Kojou said, shaking his head lightly as he headed for the exit of the small shop. Everyone had finished gathering what they needed, though so preferred to stay and fortify the shop.

The small store was located just outside Tokonosu City, on the way to Fujimi Academy. It was fairly isolated, which kept the likelihood of zombie encounters low, and it had a large stock of food, water, and survival supplies—making it a good place for people to live instead of heading into the dangerous city. So students decided to remain there after explaining the situation to the shop clerk, who shared their view.

And so, the group split into two: so stayed in the small shop to secure themselves, while others continued toward the city to see their families or fulfill other objectives. Kojou and the other Guild mbers headed into the city to kill zombies and find Shito.

"Marikawa-sensei, please stay with us," Shido said, adjusting his glasses as he looked at Shizuka, who was heading toward the bus with the food and drinks she had gathered. "Losing soone with dical knowledge like you would be a problem for us. As far as I know, you don't have any relatives in the city."

Despite his words, everyone could see the lust on his face—especially when he licked his lips in a revolting way.

"Um..." Shizuka could only tremble in disgust and fear. It was clear that Shido had dug into her background beforehand, which was disturbing enough, but the wild, lustful look in his eyes left her at a loss for words.

"Shido—that's your na, isn't it?" a voice said. As Shizuka stood frozen, soone appeared in front of Shido out of nowhere, grabbing him by the neck and lifting him into the air.

It was none other than Kojou. His blue eyes had turned crimson, blazing with rage and an intent to kill—along with a destructive urge that seed ready to obliterate everything.

"Can you stop being such a disgusting creep?" Kojou said, tightening his grip on Shido's neck. It was clear that if he kept going, he would snap it. "You claim you want a nurse, but your disgusting desire is written all over that filthy face of yours."

"...!" Shido couldn't say a word as he desperately tried to break free from Kojou's grip. The attack had been so sudden that his lungs were nearly empty of air, and he felt his throat being crushed by Kojou's inhuman strength.

"This ti, I'll let you go. But rember—there won't be a next ti," Kojou said, forcing himself to calm his turbulent emotions before tossing the purple-faced Shido aside like garbage.

After discarding Shido like trash, Kojou ignored the stares of the others and quickly boarded the bus, gripping his right hand tightly with his left. He feared that if he hadn't restrained himself, he truly would have killed Shido—especially with his overwhelming urge for destruction and murder.
