After replying to the ssage, Maya Monroe put her phone away once again.

She leaned her head against the back of the chair and rubbed her unruly hair.

The scenery outside the window changed rapidly, and Serena Sawyer once again suggested taking Maya for a check-up.

Maya stretched out her arm, "Really, there’s nothing wrong, no need to waste that money; just save it to treat to hotpot."

Serena was amused by Maya, "Don’t worry, I have enough money on hand to treat you to as many hotpot als as you want."

"Sister?" Maya asked, "Serena, how old are you?"

"You’ve been calling Serena, but you don’t know my age?"

Maya said nothing for a mont; in their industry, terms like brother and sister were often used without much regard. She just said it casually, so the age aspect had long been overlooked by her.

Serena smiled gently and explained in detail, "I’ve been in the industry for several years now, and I crossed the thirty threshold a couple of years ago."

"You really don’t look it, Serena. You look very young. And anyway, thirty is a wonderful age."

Serena smiled with curved eyes but didn’t drop the previous topic, "I’m serious; I won’t feel at ease without a full check-up. I have a doctor friend, and we can get a check-up without an appointnt, it’s quick."

She paused, "We’ll go to your favorite restaurant another day."

Serena seed quite worried and firm about it, so Maya eventually agreed.

When they left the hospital again, it was already late at night. Fortunately, the test results showed nothing abnormal.

"Maya, are you heading ho now?"

Maya sat back in the car and hesitated, "I’m not going ho, I’m going straight back to the hotel at the filming site."

Serena was surprised, "Do you have scenes tomorrow? I rember you didn’t,"

"Um... an extra scene was added temporarily."

If she went ho in the middle of the night, Ian Rowe would definitely question her. He was fine with everything, just managed her a bit excessively.

Ian, such a shrewd person, if today’s matter were brought up, there’d likely be endless inquiries.

"I see," Serena nodded, "I’ll drive you back to the set then."

"Sorry for troubling you today. But I just realized Maya is quite skilled; I initially thought you were a delicate flower, but clearly, you’re not."

"Well..." Maya rubbed her nose, "I liked fighting when I was a kid, and later on, to avoid getting bullied, I learned martial arts for a few years."

Serena nodded, probably believing it.

"By the way, we haven’t had dinner yet, do you want to find a place to eat?"

Maya’s eyes lit up, "Are there any restaurants still open now?"

Serena chuckled, "As long as you want it, there will be."

It wasn’t until the next day that Maya learned Serena had arranged a two-day leave for her.

In their circle, people had so connections more or less, and Serena and Yvonne Hall happened to have a good relationship.

Maya first thanked Serena and then replied to Yvonne’s ssage, telling her not to worry.

After working the corporate grind for so long, a two-day vacation was indeed nice, and Maya gladly accepted it.

But with two days of vacation ca quite a few troubles.

Ryan Spencer knew her schedule inside out, so it wouldn’t be easy to hide her rest from him.

Almost imdiately after, Maya received a call from Ryan Spencer.

"Maya? Are you feeling okay now?"

Maya initially wanted to say she was fine, but then rembered the reason for her leave and changed her response, "Not too bad."

"...Not too bad? What does that an? Are you okay or not?" Ryan continued, "Hearing your voice full of energy, your condition should be fine."

Maya remained silent.

Indeed, no one knew her better than Ryan.

"I’ll be fine after a two-day rest."

Ryan sighed on the other end, "I was startled when I received a ssage from Serena this morning. I’m just glad you’re okay. But you must discuss with anything major; do not keep silent."

"Maya, besides being an artist and agent, we have always been friends."

Maya nodded, realizing he couldn’t see it, so she added, "Yes."

"As long as you’re okay. By the way, were you photographed by reporters yesterday?"

Maya thought for a mont, not recalling any suspicious figures, "No."

With Serena around, there was really nothing for her to worry about.

Ryan replied, "Good, I’d think with Serena there, there shouldn’t be any big issue. But since you and Serena went shopping and had dinner together, how co I didn’t know when your relationship got so good?"

Maya made a noncommittal sound, "Just got familiar over ti."

"Okay, I’ll co see you after I finish this eting."

Maya’s gaze lingered on the food show playing on the big screen.

"No need, I’m really fine, co when you’re free."

Maya’s phone was buzzing almost nonstop; not only Yvonne and Ryan, but also Scott, Ivy, and other main cast mbers from the production were ssaging their concerns.

Maya’s eyes barely left the screen, occasionally freeing a hand to reply with a simple: I’m good, thanks for your concern.

Suddenly, her phone rang once again; this ti, it was Leo Lancaster calling.

"Hello?"

"Maya, I heard you got hurt, how are you now?"

Oh boy, news is spreading outside the crew...

"Well... I’m good, don’t worry, Leo."

Leo’s gentle voice ca through, yet it carried undeniable tension and concern, "Which hospital are you at now? Send the address, I’ll co to see you right away."

"No need, it’s not that serious, I’m really fine."

"I... still need to see you in person to be at ease."

Maya paused, "Okay, I’ll send you a full-body photo then you’ll know if I’m hurt or not."

After ending the call, Maya got out of bed and hastily took a picture.

She avoided taking it in bed, in case she appeared bedridden.

After glancing at the photo, it seed a bit blurry, but overall fine, so she sent it off imdiately.

Leo replied a minute later: "Maya, thankfully you’re okay."

Looking at the nurous ssages of concern on her screen, Maya replied to a few more.

Up to this point, she hadn’t heard from Ian, leaving Maya inexplicably uneasy.

It was the kind of anxiety stemming from the unknown or unexpected.

She then thought, since Ian wasn’t part of the crew nor did he interact with actors, he probably didn’t know about the matter.

Just as she was comforting herself with this thought, her phone rang again.

Ian Rowe—

As expected, she couldn’t escape it.

Maya answered the call, thinking that Ian might just want to chat casually, or perhaps he found out about the leave and wanted to check in on her. She figured she’d have to be clever in her responses, as she was dealing with soone as astute as Ian.

Two days of rest were hard-earned, after all.
