Chapter 77: Ch 77: End of the Championship- Part 5
The silence felt deafening in the room and I did not feel like talking anymore. Even Lynn had gone quiet.
However, the atmosphere did not remain as such for long because the oga waiter ca back with our food.
He served Lynn first and the alpha raised his eyebrow to give the waiter a surprised look. But the waiter pretended he did not see.
I was served second, but I did not mind the wait. I preferred things to be this way as well since I did not like any extra fanfare.
Our food was served, but the waiter looked at both of us with an awkward expression on his face. He clearly had sothing to say but was too shy to do so.
"You should ask what you want before you regret it."
I told the waiter and he gasped before he went even redder and took out a small book.
"C-Can I get your autograph, hunter Lynn? I-I am a big fan of yours-"
The oga asked as he extended the small notebook toward the alpha. The red on his cheeks told
that the feelings the oga had for Lynn were more than one had as a fan.
’Oh. So the waiter has a crush on Lynn? Should I help the waiter out?’
I asked myself as I took in the scene in front of . But a part of
felt jealous to see this as well.
’I wonder what having a crush is like. Does that make one have courage?’
Theo’s image flashed across my mind when I thought about crush but it was gone before I could even think about it. I just blinked as I tried to clear my mind but the thought did not co back.
So I abandoned that thought and paid attention to Lynn.
The alpha seed used to such things and he took the notebook and pen and signed it.
"What’s your na? I will write a special ssage just for you."
The alpha told the waiter and the waiter let out an excited squeak before giving his na. I could already see the oga falling deeper for Lynn and Lynn was also receptive of that attention.
"T-Thank you so much. I-I will bring your dessert quickly for you."
The oga promised before he quickly left the room. The smile also faded from Lynn’s face as soon as the oga was gone.
"Looks like soone’s got a crush on you. That oga was also cute. Why don’t you date him? Maybe you’ll like him?"
I asked Lynn and he gave
a startled look before he sighed.
"That oga did not like
as a person, but as hunter Lynn. And why would I pay that kind of attention to soone else when I have you? Or...is this a ploy to get rid of ?"
Lynn asked in a joking manner, but the way he spoke the first sentence told
that this was sothing he had gone through a lot.
I could sowhat understand him. Most people I knew also only liked
because I was the top hunter, and did not even bother looking under the mask I wore.
The oga waiter ca back soon and once again, Lynn was served first.
"H-Here-! Phase, tell
what else you would like."
The oga asked Lynn and I was beginning to feel like an afterthought.
’I know I told Lynn I did not like attention, but isn’t this too much? The waiter is almost pretending that I don’t exist.’
It felt a little disheartening but I ignored the feeling I was having. But Lynn noticed and decided to send the waiter away.
"We are fine. You may go now. Add the bill to my tab and I will clear it as soon as I return ho."
The oga looked crushed as soon as he heard those words. But what else could he do but return?
Giving
one last glare, the oga left and I sighed in relief.
"I don’t think that oga recognized you as Ace. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have behaved like that with you. Ah well, it’s better for
that he did because I get to have more ti with you all alone."
Lynn told
and I pretended I did not hear his words. That way, I wouldn’t have to worry about the swirl in the pit of my stomach...or sothing. And I could concentrate on the food...which was decadent but nothing special.
Once we were done, it was ti for us to run. Lynn led
through the backdoor toward a car and we quickly entered the underground passage once more.
"Is this your first ti travelling through the ’special’ underground network? You don’t look surprised."
Lynn asked
and I told him the truth.
"Rhiner took
through one before when he took
out to lunch. Also, I could always kind of sense the presence of sothing like this underneath the ground. I just...never bothered to check before."
I told the alpha and decided to look at him from the corner of my eyes.
The alpha’s face had an almost pout as he drove forward. It seed as if he did not like my answer to his question.
Our ride was mostly silent after that. Lynn asked a few questions and I answered. Before we knew it, we had reached the PC Cafe and I got out inside the Luminous Guild parking.
"I will take my leave now. I will also keep you posted about what I find and if I need your help with anything. Until then, take care of yourself."
I told the alpha and he looked startled at my sudden address.
"H-Hey-! Wait-!"
He told
but it was already too late. I had left the garage and the alpha gave up. Luckily, he decided not to follow
outside because there were so reporters here already, waiting to descend and ask questions to anyone who exited.
I used my powers to get away from them and headed toward the PC Cafe. The door was unlocked and as soon as I entered, I slled the familiar pheromones that told
I was ho.
"Emma, Ben, I am-"
A huge body collided with mine and I lost my balance. But the person who slamd into
twisted themselves around so that they would hit the ground instead of .
I opened my eyes to look at a burning but beautiful red and felt a shiver go down my spine.
But then the alpha blinked and a familiar green looked back at . I relaxed as Theo’s arms wrapped around
and his scent enveloped
completely.
"Kyle, welco back. I missed you so much. I am so happy that you are back. I...I..."
The alpha stuttered, not being able to get his words out. But his grip on my middle kept tightening, causing
to start to feel uncomfortable.
And yet, I did not want Theo to let go of . That was rather selfish of , but I did not care.
"Theo, you should let Kyle breathe now or he will faint. Co on, lighten your grip on him."
Emma told Theo and Theo finally let
go. And just like that, I knew I was ho.
