Chapter 65: Ch 65: Secret Out- Part 2
My first instinct was to struggle against the grip Lynn had on my arm and my second was to attack him to break free.
I suppressed both my instincts and allowed myself to be tugged to a corner.
Once Lynn had
where he wanted, he let go of my wrist and looked at
with an almost frustrated look on his face.
"Tsk, fuck—! Why did I... ugh, anyway—! I needed to ask you sothing before I lost you for good. Who are you? There is no way I would believe your half-assed excuses. No ordinary hunter should be able to keep up with ."
Lynn sounded frustrated, almost as if he had tried to figure out sothing but had failed. I suddenly felt sorry for him.
But not enough to tell him everything.
"I am just your ordinary hunter who wants to stay out of public eye. You should not pay any more attention to
than you already have. Now, I shall take my leave now."
I told Lynn before I tried to walk away. But I suddenly felt an intense killing intent aid my way. The next thing I knew, I parried the knife out of his hands on instincts.
The force I used caused us both to crash against the wall and he half-leaned down and grabbed my waist to keep
in place and the other to grab my wrist.
"See, this is what I am talking about. Do you think an ordinary hunter would have been able to do this? Plus, there is this mask that you always wear, hiding your face. It reminds
too much of soone else."
The alpha spoke as he leaned closer to
and ca into my personal space bubble.
If looks could have killed, then this alpha would have been dead twice over. Unfortunately, my mask hid my hostility.
"You are mistaking
for soone else. Now, let go before I make a formal complaint against you to the association for harassing an oga."
I told Lynn, assuming that he would want to maintain so semblance of reputation before the dia and people.
But apparently, that was my misunderstanding because instead of letting
go, he tightened his grip even more on .
"Hmm, I do not want to let you go until I get an answer from you. And I have a feeling you would disappear if I let you go now... just like you did ten years ago. Isn’t that right, Ace?"
The way the alpha whispered those words in my ear made
shudder and pull away instantly. My first instinct was to deny that I was Ace and curse the alpha out at the sa ti.
But I had a sudden feeling that the alpha in front of
was unlikely to believe those words. He was already convinced that I was Ace.
’Tsk, the association is such a hassle that they cannot even fake my presence properly. What should I do to throw this alpha off my trail now?’
I asked myself as I looked at the intense eyes of the alpha in front of .
There was a lot I could have done. But when I thought about it once more, all my thoughts failed
and I felt like I needed to give up.
So that was what I did.
Instead of making too many excuses proving I was not whom this alpha claid to be, I decided to give a vague answer.
"Believe what you want. But just because you want to believe it does not an your guess will co true. Now, let go of
before I break your arm."
I told the alpha and he quickly let
go with an almost amused smile on his face.
"Ah sure—! I will let you go now. I think I have my answer to all my questions now. But I do want to know one thing. Why would you hide your identity as Ace, Kyle? I thought we were closer than that. And also, if all you wanted was to co here, you could have asked . Why go through so much trouble—"
I almost threw a punch at Lynn when I heard those words. But I sohow managed to control myself at the end.
’Tsk, how did he... no, that’s not important. I need to control myself right now. Otherwise, I will cause an accident and confirm all Lynn’s suspicions.’
Lynn’s grip on my hand loosened enough for
to pull my arm out of it and I did not hesitate to do that.
"Tsk, you are free to make up whatever illusions you want about . Just... do not co and annoy
like this again. Or you will find a harassnt case filed against you."
I told the alpha before I went back toward exit. The alpha I was leaving behind had an almost dumb smile on his face as he watched
leave.
"Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with . I promise to take it to my grave if you want
to. I will never betray you."
The alpha promised
but I did not turn around. After all, turning around now would be
acknowledging the alpha’s words behind . And I, for one, had no intention of doing that.
So I kept walking until I reached the hotel room before throwing my body on my bed.
Then, I took out the black mass from my pocket and shook it to wake it up. The creature woke up within seconds and looked around the room.
"Ugh, so we are back in human world? I thought you wanted to know more about that dungeon. I was so excited to go ho as well... hey, be careful."
I shook the bottle to warn the black mass not to make any sudden comnt.
"What was happening in that dungeon? Was that normal? And what did you do? Since when were you able to change forms like that and co out of the bottle?"
I asked the black mass, wanting to know more about what was happening. But the more I tried to get answers, the more the black mass seed to be making.
Especially in regards to the information I currently had at hand.
"Are you trying to stall? I asked you a question and I expect answers from you. Now, hurry up and spill what you know about everything going on here?"
I told the black mass and it shook in my hands.
"A-Alright, I will tell you. But please, stop moving
around like that. Even I feel disoriented. And before we continue, can you call
by my na? It’s 0978. That’s the number of my hatch brood and birth."
The black mass told
and I suddenly felt even more irritated.
"I am not calling you by a number. I would much rather call you Kuro. Now, continue talking."
"Kuro—! Hey, I have a na... ahhhh, don’t rock , fine, call
whatever you want. I will tell you the information you need from
as well. Just stop—"
The black mass... Kuro begged and I stopped shaking it around so much. Now, it was ti to get so answers.
