Chapter 110: Ch 110: Offer to Join- Part 3
[We made a public announcent about you joining our guild. You should leave a comnt on the post to tell the public that we are not lying.]
I looked down at my phone to check who had sent the ssage, but Lynn’s na reflected back at .
His ssage was sothing I expected to get, but I was surprised at how fast he had acted in order to get
accepted as a part of his guild.
Not that I expected anything else from his legal team.
I opened the hunter’s network to leave a single line on that comnt.
[Looking forward to working with you]
I closed the hunter’s network before anyone could reply back. I had a feeling that I was opening a box that had no return even as I did that. But what was done was done.
When I looked up, no one seed to have noticed what I did... except, Theo was looking at
with a serious look that made
look away from him.
My heart thundered in my chest as I looked away in almost guilt. I felt like I had made a mistake not paying attention to him.
But then Emma called Theo’s na and he turned his attention away from . I suddenly felt like I could breathe and I felt much better.
I went back to my room after dinner and Kuro accompanied .
For so reason, Kuro was hardly ever around when I worked. He seed much more like a cat, roaming around freely and doing what he wanted to.
And shockingly enough, I did not feel worried to leave him alone. I trusted Kuro to not cause trouble for
or for others.
"How was your day outside, Kuro? What do you even do out there?"
I asked the cat-shaped demon but Kuro just avoided my question.
"Don’t worry about it, human. I am just exploring what this world has to offer. So many people just see
and try to pet . It’s getting irritating, but I think I will manage sohow."
Kuro told
as he gave
a tired look. I had nothing more to say as well and the silence descended around us.
I turned off the light source and we went to sleep soon after.
In the morning when I woke up, I had a subtle feeling that today was not going to be a good day. There was just... a weird feeling in the air and I could tell that today would be a tense day.
To make sure nothing happened, I opened the hunter’s net but the only news that anyone could talk about was
joining the Luminous Guild and how the association had not responded to anything yet.
People were waiting to see what the association had to say, but I knew the association. They were likely trying to co up with an excuse.
"Oh well-! That is none of my business. I should head down and prepare for the day... Kuro is not here?"
The cat-demon was truly not here. But I just chalked it up to his usual habit of roaming around and went down. It was ti to start the day.
________
"Darn it-! That bastard Luminous Guild-! How dare they humiliate us like this. And Ace as well? How could he betray us like this? This is unacceptable!"
Many executives looked pissed after the announcent last night.
As soon as the dia had gotten wind of what the Luminous Guild posted and how Ace had all but confird that he had joined them, things had not cald down.
And now, the association who had used Ace’s na all this ti was in hot water with the dia and people.
"This is all your fault, Rose. Had you not spoken up the idea about using a fake Ace, none of this would have happened. And even if it did, we would have been able to claim to be innocent. Now we just look like shaless people."
Rose stood at the end of the table, suddenly tongue-tied. She wanted to curse these people and remind them that they had agreed with her as well.
But she knew these people well.
The more she spoke, the more they would pin all the bla on her and try to get themselves to be painted as the good people.
It was much better to just take their insults for now.
"Co on now-! Rose’s idea was good and we all agreed with it. So how about we drop harassing her and think of what to do next?"
Rose blinked and looked at Senior Rudy, the only person here who seed to want to help her out.
Despite being an alpha, he had never once protested when Rose, a beta, was appointed in the council. And he had also never belittled her.
In other words, he was the only one in here worthy of her respect and the only one she felt comfortable relying on.
"Senior-"
"Rudy, stay in your lane. Or, do you want to throw yourself in with Rose as well and take her punishnt?"
The chairman asked and Rudy went quiet. But he also shot Rose a reassuring look that told her that she was not alone in this situation.
"Anyway, this is a nightmare for us so we will need to look into it. For the ti being, you are all advised to keep a low profile."
The chairman told all the council mbers before the eting was called off.
Rose stood stunned in the council room even after everyone was gone and wondered if this was the end of her career or if she could still save it.
"Don’t feel so worried about what is happening. Everything will be alright soon. Humans just need so ti to forget about it all."
The alpha told Rose and she actually felt reassured.
She had never liked an alpha before. Most of them belittled her and took her for a fool. So even tried to take advantage of her at tis.
But Rudy was doing none of that. He was helping Rose feel better and Rose felt grateful for that.
"I... appreciate your help with all this, senior. I feel so much better now."
She told the man and the alpha just smiled at her. There was silence around them for a minute before Rudy spoke up.
"Regarding that... do you want my help with the situation? As far as I can tell, the situation with the public is bad, but you can always distract them by diverting their attention. Would you like my help?"
The man asked and Rose felt like she could trust him. She had no idea what happened, but her mind felt blank and she no longer wanted to feel or hear anything.
She just wanted to do as she was told to.
"Of course, senior. I want to make the situation better. Please, tell
what I can do to help."
Rose asked with a smile on her face and Rudy gave her a small gem.
"What you need to do is simple. You just need to wait for the next eting before exploding this gem. I promise the world will turn their attention away from Ace and toward so more... exciting news."
