Chapter 109: Ch 109: Offer to Join- Part 2
Stepping back into the café made
feel so much better. I could feel everyone looking at
as soon as I stepped inside.
But that could also be the fact that a bulky and huge alpha like Theo was begging
like a puppy and all over .
"I am fine, Theo. I will take my place behind the counter now. You don’t have to struggle alone."
I assured him, but Theo just looked worried for my sake.
One of the recent loyal oga custors coughed to get Theo to notice them, but the alpha ignored them all and stayed by my side.
It made
feel...a sense of superiority as he did that. A part of
wanted to yell and tell everyone that the tall alpha was mine and there was nothing anyone else could do about it.
But the majority of my brain reminded
why that would be such a foolish idea, and I gave up in the end.
"Go and serve our custors. And don’t worry about
anymore. I will help you out so that you don’t feel overwheld."
I assured Theo, but he still looked worried.
"Kyle, that was not what I...nevermind. I will go and do as you have asked
to. But you will have to take the oga tables. I don’t want to approach them."
The alpha trailed off as an unknown oga gave him looks. Theo looked at the oga with a repulsed look in his eyes before he gave
a begging look.
I suddenly wanted to tease him, but my anger was rising as well. I did not like how everyone was trying to hit on Theo this openly.
"Hmm, I got it. I will take care of the oga tables. You should go handle the kitchen...oh my god-! The kitchen. What happened there? Who is cooking while I was gone?"
I asked, suddenly rembering that Dan was not here today, and it was Theo’s ti to give
reassuring news.
"Don’t worry-! Dan ca back in a hurry and took over the kitchen. We are also not taking any hard orders today, so it should be fine."
I felt calr as well once I heard that news. It allowed
to easily go around and take care of other tables without feeling guilty that the people around
were getting neglected.
"Alright. I will take care of my side. You take care of your own."
I told Theo as I turned on the T.V. to distract so custors as I served them. The news was about Ace, as it always was.
But what surprised
was the fact that the focus of the day seed to be my uncle and aunt once more.
I felt curious about what they had to say, so I kept an ear out toward the news as well.
[-seems like Ace has joined the hunter’s side instead of the association. Do you know anything about this?]
The reporter asked her aunt, and my aunt sounded confident when she spoke.
[It is nothing like that. As you know, Ace is a good person, and he joins the side of whoever will save more lives at the mont. He must have chosen to work with the hunters for the sa purpose. He’s very much like my son Eddy in that regard.]
Even now, my aunt had not learned her lesson and continued to appear on the T.V. Maybe she thought that I was too busy with my life to pay attention to what was going on on the T.V.
And to an extent, she was right. But I was also getting annoyed at her actions when I had clearly warned her and my uncle to stay away from anything related to .
’Hmm, should I act on my warning? I wonder how much trouble my aunt and uncle would be in if I were to release a statent now?’
The most convenient place to do that would be the hunter’s dashboard in the system. It was a confird space, and my na was already out there.
People would be able to find out in seconds of
posting sothing.
"I’m going on a bathroom break."
I told Emma, who nodded and took over my section without any delay. I felt sorry toward her, but I had sothing much more important to do at the mont.
As soon as I entered the bathroom, I locked the stall just to make sure no one was around before I opened the hunter’s dashboard and typed a ssage.
[My aunt and uncle sure like to speak big for people who never knew
for more than a few days. I wonder why they feel like they know
at all?]
As soon as that question was posted, it beca the top of the forums, and thousands of replies ca flooding in.
But I could not read or reply to any of them because my break was over, and I needed to head back out.
My attention shifted toward the T.V. Not that I was the only one to do that.
Everyone seed to gasp as they looked at the T.V., which was airing the recent news. And they seed to have caught the post I made as well.
[Miss and Mister Ashfold, would you care to explain the recent post? You have always boasted for the past 10 years that you are close to Ace, but his post seems to be saying otherwise. What do you have to say for yourself?]
The news reporter asked, and both my aunt and uncle looked tongue-tied as they tried to answer.
Since they were not hunters, it was impossible for them to know what I told the news. And moreover, they did not know
well enough to guess what I said either.
[Ah...that....Ace is a little bit of a jokester. It must be one of his jokes that he is playing at the mont. He’s not serious, so you don’t need to worry about it....hahaha...]
My uncle tried to make light of the situation, but I could tell that it was not really working. My uncle was not a good actor, and worry was beginning to cover his face.
However, my aunt was a different case, and she remained professional.
[Ace is just a little annoyed with us at the mont, so he is being like this. I won’t take his words to heart. Don’t worry, I will have a talk with him later to clear out the air.]
My aunt told the dia, and I had no idea where she got her confidence from. Not that I had ti to think either.
I was going to screw them and the association over, but I was going to do that later. For now, I needed to finish my work and then eat sothing.
Theo looked exhausted as well by the ti we finished, and the thought of my aunt and uncle left my mind as I sat down to eat dinner.
Everything looked fine once more, and the world was calm.
But little did I realize that this was the calm before the storm.
