The competition at Erhai had concluded, and the next event would continue in Yunnan Province, but at a different location: Dianchi Lake.
Dianchi Lake, known as the Highland Pearl, is the largest lake in Yunnan Province and also the largest freshwater lake. It is also called Kunming Lake because it is situated in the southwest of Kunming in Yunnan Province.
At noon, Lin Yang and his two friends, along with Wang Bo and his group, went out to eat lunch together as a celebration of everyone advancing to the next round.
The second competition at Dianchi Lake would be held in three days. Wang Bo and his group had so matters to attend to, so they would not go with Lin Yang’s group. Everyone agreed to et at Dianchi Lake in three days.
From Dali Erhai to Kunming is over three hundred kiloters, a direct drive would only take about four to five hours.
After lunch, Lin Yang and his two friends rested for a while, then packed their things and set off.
Kunming, also known as Spring City, lives up to its na, with spring-like weather all year round, pleasant climate, and beautiful scenery, consistently ranked as the most livable city in China.
Upon arriving here, the trio was imdiately dazzled by the sights. Compared to Dali, the tourist vibe in Spring City was slightly more subdued, but its scenery was every bit as stunning.
This place is located on the Yun Gui Plateau, with a city center altitude near 2000 ters, surrounded by mountains on three sides and bordered by Dianchi Lake to the south. Its landscape of shimring waters and mountains is a bright pearl embedded in the southwest border of China.
There were significantly fewer tourists here compared to Erhai, as the competition would not be held for another three days, so many contestants and fishing enthusiasts hadn’t arrived yet.
Lin Yang, wearing just a face mask, leisurely strolled outside with Yue’er and Li Xiaopeng, enjoying the scenery, the cool breeze, and the local cuisine.
"This place really is a treasure. No wonder it’s rated as the best place to live in the country. It would be great if we could live here for a while if we ever get the chance"

Relaxed and at ease, the three friends soon found it was past six in the evening, and it was ti to think about where to have dinner.
Just then, they spotted a small shop by the roadside. The shop was neatly decorated, not upscale but very tasteful.
The shop’s na was also very unique, not the usual ’grand hotel’ but simply three words: Fish and Mushrooms.
Seeing these three words, the trio couldn’t move any further.
"Is this a combination of fish and mushrooms? To think, since coming to Yunnan, we haven’t specifically tried the mushrooms yet." Yue’er pointed at the shop na as she spoke.
Lin Yang nodded in agreent. Yunnan’s mushrooms were famous nationwide, and many celebrities would specifically co here to eat mushrooms during spring, and it just so happened to be the mushroom season.
"Let’s go in and have a look."
You shouldn’t miss it while passing by; coming to Yunnan, one must try the mushrooms, otherwise the trip would be wasted.
Lin Yang and his two friends headed straight into the shop, which was not very large and not too crowded, so they directly chose a small private room for more convenience in talking.
Inside the private room was a small round table.
In the middle of the table was an induction cooker built into the table, upon which sat a soup pot.
"Oh, looks like it’s a hotpot restaurant. I knew about northern-style at hotpots and Sichuan and Chongqing hotpot, but I didn’t know Yunnan had hotpot too?"
In response to Yue’er’s query, a waiter smiled and explained, "Hello, you can say this is a kind of hotpot, but also not really. This pot is used for boiling mushrooms and fish because so of the most delicious mushrooms and fish require strict control over the heat and cooking ti. We cook them on the spot, and once cooked, they are directly served to the custors’ plates."
"I see, what kinds of mushrooms and fish do you have then?"
The waiter imdiately continued with an introduction of the available mushroom varieties and the most popular and delicious fish.
In terms of mushrooms, the variety was vast: Chicken Mushroom, Bull’s liver, Dried at Fungus, Green Head Mushroom, milk mushroom, bamboo mushrooms, Chicken Oil Mushroom, red mushrooms... Just hearing the nas made the three salivate while also piquing their curiosity.
Yunnan’s mushrooms truly lived up to their reputation.
As for the fish, Yunnan Province, known for its variety of fish species, naturally also had many delicious fish types.
One particular type of fish caught Lin Yang and his friends’ eyes imdiately.
"Seven-star fish? You have this fish in your restaurant?"
Li Xiaopeng saw the na and corresponding picture on the nu. It indeed was Seven-star fish, which he rembered clearly was worth 5 points in the morning’s competition, more valuable than so of the bigger fish.
Since this fish was nicknad the ancient living fossil and was quite rare in Erhai, Li Xiaopeng assud it was a very precious type of fish.
Lin Yang chuckled and said, "From what I know, although the Seven-star fish is of great biological research value and very tasty, it’s not particularly rare. It mainly lives in so stream pools and even in water-rich areas in the south like water ditches next to paddy fields. It might be considered more valuable in the competition because it’s rarer in Erhai and of scientific interest."
"I see, then today we absolutely must try it." Li Xiaopeng smacked his lips, eager to taste the Seven-star fish.
Lin Yang nodded in agreent, indicating that it indeed must be tried: "It should taste good, as it’s claid to be one of the tastiest types of fish."
