After greeting Xia Xiaoxue, she handed over a booklet and said, "Here, this contains the list of all participants in the Battle of the Kings, complete with detailed information, as well as so rules and precautions for the competition. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask ."
"Okay, I’ll take a look at it first."
After receiving the booklet, he returned to where Wang Feng was fishing, found a seat, and began to read about the Battle of the Kings.
The booklet stated that there were actually two Battles of the Kings, the first being dostic, which was to start tomorrow, while the other was international, set to begin in about half a month.
This dostic Battle of the Kings was also a fishing competition, but its main purpose was to select participants for the international fishing competition occurring in half a month. The top five perforrs in this competition would have the honor of representing our country in the international Battle of the Kings.
Lin Yang, reading this, was sowhat surprised. He hadn’t realized that a fishing competition could be so prestigious.
However, these concerns were montarily not his priority. His imdiate task was to morize the list of participants in this fishing competition, along with so information about their performances. Although, truth be told, even if he didn’t morize their scores it wouldn’t matter, as it was unlikely anyone would ask him about it.
How much of this information he rembered would primarily depend on how seriously he took this competition. If he wanted to slack off, he didn’t really need to prepare at all.
But clearly, that wasn’t the kind of person he was. Since he had taken on this work, he naturally wanted to do it as well as possible.
Moreover, Lin Yang noticed that as his physical condition improved, so did his mory. Although not yet perfect, he found that he could rember a lot of things after reviewing them a few tis.
He opened to the first page of the participant list, which showed Deng Lianyong, 52 years old, a National Class I Angling Master with over twenty million fans, currently referred to as the reigning ’Fishing King’. He had won nurous national fishing competitions and the seventh ’Fishing King Cup’ in 2001, earning him the title of ’Fishing King’. He was also the youngest to win this title since the event’s inception.
Deng Lianyong’s fishing skills were comprehensive, especially adept in speed fishing for small fish and mixed-species fishing. He was one of the top contenders in this competition and a favorite to win.
The second listed participant, Liu Changgan, a current National Special Class Angling Master, at 47 years old, has also won nurous fishing competitions. His na reflects his expertise in long-pole fishing for big fish.
The third, Li Damao, a National Class Angling Master and a featured guest on the "Fishing Across the Nation" show, was the champion of the first Shengzhong Lake Fishing Grand Prix and once caught a 150-pound blue catfish.
The fourth participant, Zeng Dapen...
Lin Yang carefully read through each profile and finally, on page thirty-four, he ca across the profile of Wang Feng, a competitor from XX Club, who had perford well in various fishing competitions...
Reading this, he felt sowhat speechless; compared to the elaborate introductions of other masters, Wang Feng’s profile seed rather modest.
And by now, Lin Yang finally understood why soone of Wang Feng’s capability was also able to participate in this Battle of the Kings.
The reason was that in this competition, each club could only send one participant. For clubs like Deng Lianyong’s, Liu Changgan’s, and Zeng Dapen’s, which all had several top-level masters, any one of them could possibly outperform Wang Feng. However, due to the competition’s rules, they couldn’t participate, giving the relatively unknown Wang Feng his chance.
After reviewing the list of participants, Lin Yang had made up his mind to help Wang Feng secure one of the top five positions in the competition.
Why?
Because advancing to the top five in this Battle of the Kings would allow him to participate in the international Battle of the Kings half a month later, where competitors could choose to bring an assistant.
Although fishing is an individual sport, in many competitions the assistant also plays a role, like in tomorrow’s match. The fishing master primarily focuses on fishing, while the assistant handles other tasks such as bait mixing, ground baiting, and netting. These tasks might seem simple but require skill and practice. Currently, Xiao Zhang, Wang Feng’s assistant, was practicing netting, responsible for netting the fish Wang Feng caught.
By this ti, Lin Yang had nearly finished reviewing the materials, so he went over to the lakeside to start setting up so rods and to teach Wang Feng so techniques.
He wasn’t initially qualified to fish here, but after identifying himself, the staff had issued him a fishing permit.
Upon joining Wang Feng, Lin Yang also examined Wang Feng’s fishing rods and finally chose a 8.1-ter composite rod, which basically wasn’t necessary at Heavenly King Peak.
Since the Battle of the Kings was scored by total weight, it was important not only to catch fish that scored high points but also to catch large ones, hence all the participants used rods suitable for big fish, Wang Feng included.
His primary rod was made of graphene carbon, nad ’Dragon Slayer’, a 9-ter rod costing 28,000 per piece, capable of effortlessly handling fish up to 120 pounds. He had three such rods along with a spare of 10 ters and another 8.1 ters, five rods in total.
Using the 8.1-ter rod was effortless for Lin Yang; it was only a lake, after all, with no killer whales or sharks to possibly break the rod.
