261 Her Loss [4]

***

Amon road the stalls with Alia, his eyes observing every detail and movent.

He was pushing [Void Eyes] to the max right now.

This wasn't just to take in their experience so he could do things better later on but to also be aware of everything.

Even though there were no other academies this ti around, the Cultural Festival was just as big of an event as the mid-terms.

And just like the midterms, this was also just as big of a chance for the outside forces to create havoc inside.

With no Arthur left and the trust and cooperation between the public and managent at its weakest, Eldergrove was the lowest it had ever been in years.

And this was the best chance for all of the enemies to attack.

However, at the sa ti, despite there being a chance, it didn't an that they could just blindly attack so.

There was Akane, a figure only a tad bit weaker than Arthur.

It was to be kept in mind that the public was still unaware of Arthur's [Ti] elent.

After all, the public had not seen the scene of destruction caused by him.

It was the Imperiac–the only party that knew about Arthur's elent–which investigated the incident and took in Arthur as the cause of it.

The public had no proof on how their closed ones died or what happened inside the infirmary.

It was all re speculation.

And since the group had been completely erased from ti as well, with no survivors left to report on what happened, the organizations were also unaware.

Akane probably knew about Arthur's [Ti] elent as well.

This was just a guess but considering how influential and important she was, it was probably known to her.

As Amon was lost in his thoughts, he was nudged awake by Alia who shook his arm.

His eyes t her golden ones, which looked up at him.

"Hmm?"

Alia pointed to a cooking station in the distance, where various chefs worked at food.

"You want to eat?" He asked and Alia nodded her head.

Amon gave her a smile.

"Alright."

They both moved towards the stall where the chefs effortlessly worked on beast at on grills.

Several piping hot beast skewers were set at the side for people to buy.

There was also a long queue in place, clearly showing the popularity of the shop.

Amon looked up.

The na was Ken Carson's Skewers.

'Hmm..' Amon squinted eyes as if he was familiar with the na.

But he was too occupied to think about it currently.

Regardless, he moved forward with Alia.

Due to there high positions, one privilege granted to them was that they could cut queues.

And this was exactly what Amon did, shoving aside the long queue as Alia walked to his side.

Arriving at the front, Amon looked up at the main chef that was catering to the custors.

Imdiately, the chef felt the pressure of his stare as his face turned to him with surprise.

Amon was about to give him a nod and introduce himself but…

There was no need as imdiately, the chef's eyes lit up.

"Wait!? Aren't you Amon Ashford!?" He asked, shock etched on his features.

Amon was taken aback by the sudden change of emotions on his face.

He wasn't used to such recognition and shouting.

But he slowly nodded his head in affirmation.

"Yes. I am."

Imdiately, he noticed excitent run through the chef's eyes as he jumped.

"Holy hell! I can't believe that you would co to this stall sir! I'm sorry to waste your minute but I would like to tell you how much of a fan I am of you. Every performance from you made literal chills run down my spine in mid-terms!"

He said it so fast like an excited child that had just been given his favorite candy.

anwhile, Amon was left speechless by the sudden appreciation.

This was…

Sothing new.

But the worst part was when due to his shouts, so other people turned as well and imdiately their faces contorted with recognition.

"Wait, that's Amon from the mid terms!?"

It was mostly the stall owners from outside, who knew him from the mid-terms and were seeing him for the first ti.

All of them fixated their stares at Amon, with the latter being too surprised by the sudden change to speak.

"I'd like for you all to step back, you can clearly see he's uncomfortable." Alia stepped forward, raising a hand to halt them.

Unlike her usual cheerful and playful deanor with Amon, there was a simple coldness in her eyes now.

It was clear to everyone.

It wasn't a request but an order.

And the only thing they could do to an order was comply with it by stepping back.

As he finally got so space, Amon snapped back to his senses.

His eyes turned to Alia, a grateful smile forming on his lips.

"Thanks. I owe you one."

Alia giggled.

"Hehe, no problem."

But then, she shoved her elbow into him with a smirk on her face.

"But, looks like soone's famous now."

Amon coughed.

"Don't know how that happened."

In order to save himself from her teasing, he quickly turned to the chef, who was now patiently waiting for his order.

"We'll take two skewers please." He raised two fingers.

The main chef quickly nodded like a humble servant, completely ignoring the queue at the side.

Rather than giving them the ones at the side, the chef personally whipped them two fresh from the grill.

After a minute, he handed them the skewers with utmost care and preparation.

Amon relished in the soft and spicy aroma of the skewers.

He handed Alia hers before taking a bite of his along with her.

"Wow, this is pretty good. The stall precedes its reputation." She took another bite, carefully chewing on the at.

anwhile, Amon supported her thoughts with a nod while chewing on his bite.

"True. This is pretty good. I'm impressed."

Both of them took another piece of at in their mouth before Amon turned to her.

"What would you rate it?"

But rather than giving him an answer, Alia looked expectantly at him with a smile.

"What would you rate it?"

Amon raised his brows at her smirk.

"I asked first."

Alia shrugged, hearing none of it.

"I don't care. Answer it first for ."

Amon put on a thoughtful expression for a second before turning to her.

"Hmm, I'll give it a 5. I can make this a lot better. Probably." He looked at the final at chunk before taking it in his mouth.

Surprise ca on Alia's features that Amon noticed.

'Guess she's surprised by my harsh rating despite liking it.' Amon thought.

He was about to clarify to her that he was a food connoisseur but Alia's next words made literal shock run through him.

"That high? I'd give it a 3. Yeah, that much."

Amon froze in his spot, his expression unreadable such that he couldn't hold his words.

"Huh?"

Even the chef behind Amon, who was already broken a little from his rating, was left in disbelief by her words.

'Did I hear that right?'

Alia gave him a shrug, seriousness etched on her features now.

"I an, it's good. Quite a light snack. The spicy level was a little low for my taste, but quite well balanced for an average custor. The salt level was also quite moderate, though I'd like a bit of flavor…" And she just went and on.

Amon heard it all while being completely frozen.

This girl…

She was even more of a critic than he was.

When she finally finished, Amon was only able to nod slowly.

"I-I see..I thought you hated spicy foods though?" He asked.

This was true.

Unlike him, who loved spiciness, he expected Alia to love sweets more.

Especially since she was always with a chocolate, lollipop or a milkshake.

But Alia shook her head.

"In terms of drinks and appetizers, yeah I prefer sweets but nobody loves spice more than in terms of main food." She clarified.

"Oh."

Amon handed the money over to the broken chef with a comforting smile.

"Welp, let's move on then." He said, but as he was about to step forward, Alia suddenly grabbed his hand from the side.

Amon turned with a questioning expression.

"Hmm?"

"Wait, previously.."

Alia looked him in the eyes with seriousness and expectations, surprising Amon a little by the sudden change.

"You previously said that you can make it a lot better if you wanted to right?"

Amon slowly nodded his head.

"Uhh, yeah. It's quite easy." He said.

A delighted expression ca on Alia's slightly red face now.

"Then…"

She pointed to the stall.

"Cook for ."
