254 The Party & The After Party [3]
***
Suddenly, the lights died out and the conductor's voice echoed loudly in the hall, catching everyone's attention.
Amon's and the group's heads turned to the stage where they saw a middle aged man standing with a bright smile on his face.
His blonde hair were neatly combed to the side, and he was wearing a tight formal suit.
"Greetings everyone! May I have your attention for a mont?" He asked, his voice echoing in the hall despite him having no microphone.
Amon's eyes squinted as he realized the reason.
'Sound magic.'
It was obvious. Though it required quite a bit of mana to maintain and a lot of control, Amon could also do it sowhat.
Everyone remained silent at his words as the hall ca to a quiet.
Taking it as an affirmation, the man nodded with his smile still plastered on his face.
"Thank you, now without any wait for you all, let formally announce the start of this party today. A heartiest congratulations to you all for passing your midterms with astonishing grades!" He shouted.
A wave of cheers erupted through the hall at his words, signifying everyone's happiness and relief.
Amon's eyes swept through the hall with so suspicion.
There was sothing unusual. That gnawing feeling on his back was just growing stronger and stronger.
But there was sothing else to notice as well.
He turned to the conductor with a surprised gaze.
Did he just say congratulations to everyone?
But that ant…
As if understanding what he was thinking, it was Katherine who spoke from behind.
"Yes, they chose to pass everyone this ti."
Amon turned to her with shock in his gaze.
But it wasn't as if he didn't understand the intention behind it.
Katherine nodded at his face and her next words just confird it, her voice coming out in a serious tone.
"Yeah, in this way, they can make all students happy and relaxed, letting them forget the incident that happened a month ago.
They don't care about compromising a small event like the midterms for the children's mindset. They want to move their minds off of Arthur, especially with how the students are now starting to side with him."
She explained everything.
Amon's eyes widened a little for a mont.
For sure. This was an impressive strategy by the people on the top to make the students move on.
Whoever had implented it must have thought this thoroughly.
From the corner of his eye, Amon saw Alia getting down a little from Arthur's ntion but she kept herself composed.
Turning back to Alia, he asked her the question on his mind.
"Who ca up with this strategy?"
Katherine put a finger on her chin in a pondering expression.
"From what I have heard, it was the acting principal. Akane Blackheart, that's her na I believe.."
A pensive expression ca on Amon's face.
Akane Blackheart…
She certainly had to be a cunning one to do this. Unfortunately, he didn't know anything special or exclusive about her from the novel.
Mistaking his expression for curiosity, Katherine put a hand on his shoulder with a smile.
"Don't worry, she's going to be on the stage in a few minutes to distribute the awards so you can just see her there."
But then, as if she rembered sothing, her smile spread a little wider.
"Or much better, et her in person for being the 1st ranked." She gave him a proud smile.
Amon restrained a cough.
He really hated this title.
But Katherine loved it, feeling proud that her brother had done such a big achievent.
Despite there being a large audience around them, Katherine gave him a little hug, not being able to restrain herself.
"My little brother~! I'm so proud of you~."
Amon did a roll of his eyes.
Focusing his attention back to the conductor, Amon saw that he was done with his speech or whatever.
"Before we start with the reward ceremony, I would like everyone to please settle down on their chairs." He said, gesturing to the seats in front.
Nodding, everyone started slowly settling down.
The group also started to move but Katherine stopped them.
"Wait."
All of them turned at the words.
"Yes Miss Katherine?" Charlotte asked with a kind voice.
Returning her gentle smile, Katherine gestured to all of them to follow.
Taking them all to the nearest row possible, she gestured to the seats beside her.
"You guys can sit here."
"Let's gooo, sweet!" Ren did a small whistle, settling into a seat.
Even though there were close seats for the group for placing in the first ranks, Katherine was able to get them as close as possible.
"Thank you so much for this generosity, Miss Katherine!" Charlotte did a grateful bow before settling into a seat as well.
22:21
Katherine had just settled down as well, leaving him, Alia and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth went ahead and settled down.
Amon turned back to Alia, who seed to be a little out of it.
"Let's go." He called her out.
But she didn't respond, as if she couldn't hear him.
A concerned expression ca on his face as he moved closer, grabbing her by her arm.
"Let's go." He said closer to her ear to make her snap out.
And she did as her body shuddered because of the sudden voice.
"Oh, yeah. I'm sorry."
Amon gave her a simple nod, pulling her by the arm to the last two seats as he settled first and then Alia.
It was only after that he turned to Alia, now that people couldn't focus on them.
"You good?" He asked.
Alia gave him a comforting smile and nodded, but Amon didn't miss the worry lines on her face.
"Yeah, I'm good, don't worry."
Amon tightened his grip on her arm slightly.
"Still having problems with the incident?" He asked.
Alia turned silent for a second with surprise, not expecting him to still suspect her.
But after a mont, she shook her head.
"No, it's not that. It's just that since the mont I arrived at this party, there's been a strange feeling in the back of my mind.
It makes fall out of reality for a few seconds as it grows and grows." She finally told him.
Amon's eyes widened montarily.
The description sowhat matched what was happening to him as well?
"Did it only start at this party?" He asked to confirm.
If it was false and had been happening since yesterday as well, then certainly sothing was after them two.
But unfortunately, Alia shook her head.
"Yes, I didn't feel anything before coming here." She said,
Amon's brows furrowed in a deep frown.
Then was it only happening to him and Alia's case was different?
Nevertheless, he had to ensure her safety and health first.
"You want to ditch and get so fresh air?" He asked.
But Alia gave him an assuring smile and shook her head.
"No no, I'm fine, it's not that uncomfortable. It would be weird to co and leave anyways. Besides all that, I have to watch you get an award. That's important."
Amon gave her a nod, asking for the final ti.
"You sure?"
She nodded and Amon chose to let it go, but the matter was still on his mind.
Elizabeth was fine but he wanted to talk to a more comfortable person right now.
He gave Ren a quick ssage to ask.
But Ren replied back with a confusing nope on his watch.
Amon's frown deepened more and more. The more he dug into it, the more it was getting weird.
Maybe there was a chance that n weren't affected?
Sure, he was a man but he was a different matter right now.
[Yes, a different matter cause you are a femboy. You aren't included in n.]
A vein bulged on Amon's forehead.
'Shut up.'
He focused back on the matter.
Left with no choice, he turned to Elizabeth.
"Hey." He said.
Elizabeth turned to him with a confusing gaze.
"Hmm? What's up?" She asked, sweeping a strand of her hair back.
Amon was montarily taken aback by her nonchalant attitude.
But he had no ti to ponder upon it.
"Do you feel any weirdness or any strange feeling on your back or sothing?" He asked.
Elizabeth tilted her head in confusion, remaining silent for a mont as she tried to see.
"No? Is sothing wrong?" She asked.
"Oh, alright. It's okay, don't worry." He turned back, hiding his disappointnt.
But before he could, Elizabeth pulled his sleeve.
"Hey."
Amon turned back to her with a confusing gaze.
"Yeah?" He asked, finding Elizabeth with an embarrassed expression.
"I-I wanted to say sorry for my behavior back at the mall. I didn't know what got into at that ti." She said, her face red.
Amon was taken aback by the sudden words.
He wasn't expecting this to happen.
But…
He couldn't say that he was against it or hated it.
Giving her a gentle forgiving smile, he replied.
"Nah, it's fine. Don't worry." He replied, satisfied that he could clear it up with Elizabeth.
Maybe she was on her periods or sothing at that ti.
After all, Elizabeth was never a character like this in the novel.
But before she could reply back to him, the conductor shouted again now that everyone had settled.
"And now, I'll finally invite the Acting Principal of Eldergrove Academy, Miss Akane Blackheart on the stage to give the top rankers their rewards for their excellent performance in the midterms!" He stepped back.
And at the ntion of 'Akane Blackheart', everyone's attention was taken.
At the sa mont, the clicking of heels sounded on the right side of the stage, making everyone's head turn.
In the next heartbeat, Akane finally entered the stage with a noble and graceful gait, instantly turning the whole hall silent.
As Amon laid his eyes upon her, even he couldn't help but be left completely speechless.
