Chapter 99: Chapter 99
"Her precious grandchildren are in the castle with northerners. How could she not travel to make sure we are safe? If you wish to say hello to her, she is in her bedroom. You could join
when I go to spend ti with her. Oh right," Alia rembered sothing. "If you didn’t know she was here you must not have been told she will be looking over the decisions Fraser makes as king."
"What?" Beth frowned. Why on earth would soone who hated the castle want to give up their peaceful life?
"Killian was the one to make that arrangent. I think it is perfect honestly. My grandmother was an excellent ruler and the people would be glad to know that she is involved in the castle affairs once again. The throne is going to be in two safe hands," Alia smiled.
"Lady Margaret is quite old. Don’t you think it would be a burden to have her-"
"As a true Blackwell, her duty is to the throne and since Killian has requested she clear any decision Fraser makes, she accepted the job. Trust , if grandmother disliked this idea it would have been changed already. She will guide Fraser and make sure we do not have another fool on the throne. Sorry if that offends you but you must be aware he never had any training to be a king," said Alia.
"Just like you had no training to ever beco a queen," Beth retorted to defend her son.
"And you know what that feels like too. Luckily you were able to settle down and just marry a Lord. I hope to make everyone proud so instead of picking out clothes to wear as queen, I am going to start reading up to know what I will need to do to be an excellent queen. Please root for
alongside rooting for . Excuse ," Alia curtsied to bid goodbye for now.
Beth curtsied as she was taught when she was younger but she did not want to show Alia respect right now after she gave her this terrible news. Beth adored Alia because she knew what it was like to live as a princess in the castle. Beth believed she had worse treatnt than Alia because she was outcasted as the princess born from an affair. Beth envied that Alia was able to get the love she wanted from Margaret when she was Alia’s age.
Beth knew she could not be angry with Alia because she was the pure Blackwell blood that Margaret liked. Beth wanted Alie to succeed but not better than Fraser. After all the pain she endured in the castle, it was all paying off by Fraser becoming the next king. Her father must be turning in his grave now that his precious son Richard was dead and Margaret must be fuming with anger that Richard did not have an heir.
Alia walked in silence to the royal library. She could already feel how annoyed she would be when more of Fraser’s relatives would enter the castle. "I need to find out when Killian intends for us to head to the north," she made a ntal note.
There was a limited amount of ti for Killian to be away from his castle because his absence caused problems. His people must be confused as to why they weren’t hearing good news about the Blackwells being destroyed.
Alia entered the royal library and locked the door behind her as she did not wish to be disturbed by anyone at this ti. Before she could prepare a desk for her to work, she inspected every inch of the library to make sure there was no one around to spy on her. Once it was clear, she sat down at the largest desk in the room which had everything she needed.
Alia placed a blank sheet of paper in front of herself to write down important things she did not want to miss out in the official truce. "Let’s see. The north and Blackwells will be allies in the future as a marriage between
and Killian will happen. Both sides will aid each other in any conflict we face. We should have a eting place built at the border where both sides can et to discuss any disputes," she thought out loud.
If there were to be so tension in the future, either side might not wish to travel out of the safety of their land to speak with the other side.
Alia pushed back her chair and stood up to look for a map that would cover both kingdoms. "Where is the royal librarian when you need him?" She muttered as she found herself looking at a large number of maps tucked away on shelves. "This old one is outdated but I am not in the mood to look for the latest map created," she pulled out an old map of the two kingdoms.
It wasn’t like the land had changed over the years. It was just that there were walls and lookout towers built but Alia had an idea of where those things were as she kept up to date with the war.
Alia rolled out the small map onto the large desk and looked for the best to build a tower for a eting. "This is where the guard’s exit to go into the north. Now that they do not need to invade the north, we should use this road for both sides to enter and exit. We can turn this into a trade route also. Killian can build his watch towers to inspect anyone wanting to enter his kingdom."
Alia sat back down to draw a replica of the map and how she wanted everything to be done. "Wonderful princess as well as a talented artist," she said, feeling proud of the map she made. "We should have a council to deal with affairs concerning the north so that they don’t just have Fraser acting on his emotions. Should Fraser and our grandmother be a part of this council? It should probably be people neither can control. I wonder if there has ever been a council like this in the past."
"That would be the priest-"
"Ah!" Alia scread but quickly clasped her hand over her mouth to avoid alerting anyone outside of any danger. "Killian, would it kill you to stop doing that? I just saw you a mont ago so why are you here?"
Killian looked down at the weird drawing Alia made and then at the map. "I ca to see your progress or if you started at all. Do you need any help?"
"I am doing well so far so no thank you. What were you going to say about the priest and council? My grandmother told
the story of her relatives," said Alia.
"Quite interesting humans they were to hunt us. I have to give them credit for creating weapons to kill so of us. There was never a council to create peace between the two lands but the priest had councils around many lands where they would decide whether to kill people they assud to be not normal. This was to keep peace in their lands. It just led to us killing more of them," Killian explained.
"Hmm. That does not help with what I plan to create but it was interesting to hear. Is there anyone on your side who will be willing to have a civil conversation with people on my side? To keep the peace."
"A demon wanting peace?" Killian chuckled.
"You have given up war and chosen peace," Alia reminded him.
"I want you not peace, princess. It is your side begging for peace because you are sure to die if we choose to attack. It is only because I do not wish to have you screaming in my ear, calling
a murderer that I am going along with this truce but I have also inford you of my other plan for marrying you," said Killian.
He sat down on the desk and took the brush from Alia to draw over the map she recreated. He knew the lands like the back of his hands because of his ti in this world.
"Right. You want to have one of your children sit on this throne. It must bring you so joy to think of your child sitting on the throne that past kings who wished to kill you sat on. They will certainly be rolling around in their graves because of this. By the way, there has been no news of slaves being brought back in. You can do as you wish to free your people," Alia permitted him.
"What if I have to kill soone to free them? Are you okay with that?" Killian asked.
"I am not against you killing bad people like the ones from last night. This kingdom has a few evil people we can do without. It would be beneficial for you to et with a lot of my father’s friends. I have a feeling he turned a blind eye to the slave trade because of how much money they were making. How about you and I have a celebration for our marriage to bring them to the castle?" Alia proposed and had a devilish idea in mind.
