Chapter 100: Chapter 100
Alia considered it to be a win-win situation for holding a celebration. They could use it to show that the war was now over with and let her people interact with the northerners here. On the other side, Killian could et the people who no doubt would hide the slaves in their possession.
"There must be a way for you to tell when soone is hiding sothing shady or is evil right?" Alia asked as it made sense in her head for a skill a demon should have.
"Of course. That’s how we pick out the best humans to control. What’s in it for
to go around and see who is hiding sothing?"
Alia was puzzled by this and said, "You would be able to find your people who are slaves."
"I am able to find my people without taking care of a look at the rich. In fact, a couple of my n are already on the good side. Since I return to the north soon, they are moving quickly. I am going to get my people back whether it is willingly or by force. So I ask again, what will I get out of this celebration? I can inspect your father’s friends for you but I will need sothing in return," Killian pushed the new map he drew towards her.
Alia kept her eyes on him. "I am not doing anything sexual with you."
Killian grinned, amused by where her mind went. "You have a low opinion of
if you think I would force sothing sexual out of you with favor. It is sothing you can do as a princess."
Alia didn’t buy that was what he wanted initially but she would go along with it. She wanted to weed out her father’s friends and get rid of them before they could have Fraser enable the things they do. "What is it?"
"If anyone cos to you with the idea to kill
in the future, go along with it."
Alia frowned, confused as to why he would want her to take part in that. "There has to be so other way for you to find out who is involved in that plan. What if this all backfires and it reaches the north that I was trying to kill their king?"
"Trust , it won’t backfire. I have been keeping an eye on the n here who intend to break the truce you are writing to him. I hate to be double-crossed so I will teach them a lesson and give a warning to others. I’d hate to have to co down from the north again to kill anyone."
"Can’t you just fly down? And I’ve been aning to ask. Why do you trust ? Why do you trust that I won’t try killing you? Please do not say it is because you think I am desperate to sit on a throne," Alia closed her eyes and held back her anger.
"I wouldn’t say you are desperate. You just feel the need to prove yourself. I do believe you won’t let the opportunity to prove yourself as a good ruler fly by but that’s not the reason why I trust you. One day after we have married I will tell you. Would you care for a gift princess?" Killian showed her his empty palm where smoke ford and a necklace appeared. "It’s a bloodstone created in the underworld."
"How romantic," Alia muttered but she was interested in the red stone. "It won’t harm
right?" She asked before attempting to touch it.
"No but it will slowly kill anyone who wears it," said Killian.
"Yet again I feel the need to say how romantic. I am not taking that from you. I am not into that I will kill myself for you to prove my love kind of thing. I want to live," Alia said and pushed her chair back to get away from the necklace. She learned today that demons had a backward idea of a gift.
"I am not giving it to you for you to wear it, princess. If there is anyone around you that you seek to get rid of secretly, you can use this. Your people will not be able to detect that the death ca from the stone. You can save it for the future whenever you visit this castle. It will be quite useless in the north as it does not affect demons," he squeezed it tight to show he was not worried about it. "You won’t be hurt as long as you touch the string part."
"I see. It may co in handy one day but you should hold onto it until I can find a small chest to store it in. I have a question. Since demons are much stronger than everyone else, why haven’t those made as slaves been able to run away? How were they easy to catch in the first place?" Alia asked. It had been on her mind since Killian inford her of demons.
"There are different levels with demons. The lower-level ones are not that strong which makes it easy for humans with great fighting skills to attack them. Those demons were normally bottom feeders in the underworld. If not for their ability to enter and exit the underworld, you would think they were humans," Killian explained.
"So my father attacked a village of harmless ones?"
"Yes. They tend to stick together or a few of them will attach themselves to higher-level demons. So of them might try to beco your allies to climb up the ranks. You should make good use of them as they are willing to do anything and they are quick at getting information," Killian inford her. There was much for Alia to learn about his world and she needed to learn it quickly.
"What is Cyrus?" Alia asked at the mont and then hoped he wouldn’t be angry she asked Killian this instead of going to him.
"He seems to be one level up from being a bottom feeder. A regular demon in simple terms." Killian was curious about Cyrus and where he ca from but it wouldn’t be long for him to find out when they all return to the north.
"I see. The north is fascinating to learn about. It was fun chatting with you but I need to get back to making this truce. Please go away," she scooted the chair forward to go back to what she was doing.
"I will see you later for training," Killian said before he vanished.
Not too far from the library, Beth had found and dragged Fraser into an empty room. There was a lot of information he had left out in the letters he sent to her.
"You did not inform
your grandmother is here?" Beth glared at her son. Fraser knew well enough how bad her relationship with Margaret was. Fraser also did not get along with his grandmother so why would he leave this out?
"I knew you wouldn’t have co if I told you she was here. I did what was right. Your son is about to beco king so it is only right you co to the castle. I can’t stay here for a long ti, mother. Alia has created a ss by calling off her engagent," said Fraser.
"I ran into her before coming to find you. I need you to be better than everyone expects you to be. She spoke so highly of being able to get the king of the north to have that whore’s child beco king-"
"Impossible!" Fraser yelled but bit his lip when his mother glared at him for being loud. "She can’t make him take back what has already been announced."
"Fraser, she has the king of the north as her future husband. I’m sure your cousin has figured out how to charm a man and have him listen to her every word. She is not an easy opponent anymore. You cannot play childish gas with her as it will cost your life," Beth warned him. Alia found herself a dangerous shield.
Fraser scoffed, believing his mother to be overreacting for nothing. "You speak as if Killian Bune has fallen for her. She was just picked to warm his bed."
Beth pinched the bridge of her nose. "She was picked to be his wife, you fool. He could have killed everyone in this castle and taken Alia back as his prize if he only intended to sleep her with. Instead, he’s calling for peace and marrying her. Unless he has other motives, that man has fallen for her. I am certain Alia knows it too. No one can ss with her now."
Fraser did not picture Killian Bune as soone to fall in love with so easily but his mother was hellbent on it. He had been talking as he pleased to Alia with Killian present. His palms began to sweat as the panic settled in. "What should I do about their relationship, mother?"
"Nothing. From this mont on, you must play nice with your cousin until you have enough power to kill her husband and free us from the north."
