Chapter 86: Chapter 86
"I think I swallowed a bug or sothing," Alia wiped her mouth the mont Killian placed her on the ground. She didn’t know if flying was that wonderful if she had to wipe bugs from her face when it was done. "How do you endure this?"
"I don’t have any bugs on my face. Perhaps they found your face to be a good place to hitch a ride. Let
see," he scanned her face for the bugs. "It might have only been one. Next ti, close your mouth when we are flying."
"Noted," Alia turned around to spit out her saliva. "You need to put on your coat," she said as she fixed her own to cover her head once again. It had been blown off when they were flying.
"Are you the expert when it cos to sneaking out?"
Alia smiled as she did consider herself an expert when it ca to sneaking out. "Let’s just say there are quite a few tricks you can learn from . When your father doesn’t like you to have any fun, you have to co up with all kinds of plans to get out of the castle walls and then not be spotted in town. Did you ever need to sneak out?"
"I am king," Killian simply replied. "Who would ever try to stop
from going where I wanted?"
"Right," Alia muttered, slightly jealous of Killian’s freedom. "At least I won’t have to sneak out in the north. I’ll consider this the grand finale of my sneaking-out days. My mission is to not let you get caught."
"I wonder what sort of entertainnt a princess can find herself in so late in the night," Killian placed his hands behind his back and began walking down to the town.
"All sorts of things. Why do you keep placing your hands behind your back each ti you are around ?" Alia questioned whilst looking behind him to see if there was anything odd about his hands for him to hide them. She found nothing out of the ordinary. "You first started it the day we t. Is it because I was scared when you offered
your hand?"
She rembered the day they had t his hands were covered in blood and she had refused to touch them. Alia wasn’t terrified solely because there was blood on his hands. She was terrified because there was an enemy standing before her.
"I thought it might be hard for you to see my hands. How many princesses see blood and easily forget about it after living their entire lives without seeing death? My hands have been covered in blood," said Killian.
"Well, I am not like other princesses so there is no need for you to hide your hands from . Besides, they are not covered in blood when we walk together and I assu there is no one in the castle you are secretly killing. Right?" She looked to him to make sure he confird this truthfully. One strange expression and she would find him suspicious.
"Not that I have personally killed. I am ant to be getting to know my future wife therefore I don’t have ti to kill anyone. Though I am tempted to kill your cousin if he keeps buzzing around . I can see right through his smile."
"Don’t even think of killing Fraser. If anyone is going to kill him it’s going to be
but I suppose he is foolish enough to kill himself. I don’t want to talk about him or anyone else. We’re here to have so fun. We’re almost there," Alia said as there were so lights in the distance.
Killian had stopped in the midst of trees to hide the fact they had flown there. They had to walk a little to get to the busy part of town.
"Let’s get to know more about each other while we walk there. How old are you?" Alia asked, still very much curious about how long a demon like him could live.
"It is rude for you to ask a demon how old they are," said Killian.
Alia was surprised to hear this and felt sorry for asking. "I didn’t-"
"I’m kidding," Killian chuckled, amused by how she easily believed his words. "You should not believe a demon’s words so easily. I truly do not know how old I am. For a long ti, I lived in the underworld and those that live there don’t keep track of years down there. It is only those who punish the souls who keep track of the ti. When you have the ability to live forever, keeping track of ti is useless."
"In other words, I am marrying an extrely old man. So one day when I am old and on my deathbed, you will still look like this," she pointed at his face.
"Perhaps or maybe I will consider giving you immortality."
"I don’t know if I would want to live forever," Alia replied. It would be sad to watch all the people she cared about leave this world. "I think when my ti cos, I want to go. I suppose the bright side of marrying you would be the fact our children will be half demon and able to visit
in the underworld? I have committed a cri that would make
be punished down there," she said, referring to her father’s death.
Killian found it amusing that she expected to be punished for killing her father. Most humans tried to either claim they were innocent or they should be rewarded for getting rid of soone evil. If only all souls could accept their punishnts as she did then the underworld would have fewer screams and cries.
Giving her so hope Killian replied, "Not all souls are punished. Many tis the devil has taken a liking to so souls and turned them into demons instead of letting them be punished. You never know who he might like."
Alia turned to Killian after hearing this. "Why aren’t you the devil? You are a king?"
"I am just a demon who took control of land in this world and other demons ca up to live there. If you are questioning why they follow another demon instead of the devil, it is because of my high position in the underworld. There are many ranks in the underworld. It pays well to be right below the devil," he replied.
’Right below the devil? He is more dangerous than anyone here has realized,’ Alia gulped. It was starting to beco hard to think she would survive living in the north.
There was silence between the two until they reached the road where carriages and people on horses were passing by.
Killian looked down at Alia by his side, wondering if he should have not ntioned his position in the underworld. He had not gone into detail but it had been enough to scare her even if she wouldn’t want to admit it. He quite possibly ruined the night before it even started.
While Alia thought over what he said, Killian looked around at what humans were up to during this ti. What could she possibly have to show him to help him see the bright side of this kingdom? Killian took in the sight of n and won getting ridiculously drunk with each other and could even predict who would wake up in each other’s arms the next morning. If only he could see their expressions in the morning when they realized who they slept with.
"You seem amused by sothing," Alia said after she had looked up at Killian. "I wonder how boring life must be if you find people sitting around drinking to be entertaining."
"Why wouldn’t I? So many bad decisions are made from drinking. That ans more souls will head down to the underworld. Show
what it is you do for fun when you escape the castle. Are you the type to indulge in drinking or do you visit places where a princess like you does not belong?"
"Are you trying to say I go to a brothel? That’s funny but no. If I don’t want to be seen by many of the n who visit the castle I wouldn’t go to the one place to head to when night falls. If only I could see the monts when so of their wives drag them out," she chuckled.
There was a particular story that ca to mind of a woman dragging a husband out in his naked attire. He was laughed at all night and without a wife when morning ca. He deserved everything that happened to him after cheating on his wife.
"Are you soone that enjoys being in a brothel?" Alia asked.
Killian leaned down to her level and whispered in her ear as they walked, "No. If I was ever in the mood to have sex, there were plenty of won around to warm my bed for that mont. Before you judge
know that my kind has a high sex drive. We love taking part in things others consider to be sins. I hope that you can keep up in the future, princess."
