Chapter 85: Chapter 85
"You’re doing wonderful," Margaret complinted Alia. She thought Alia needed to hear it more often. For soone who didn’t have strong backing in the castle, Alia had done well for herself. Margaret couldn’t think of anyone else in Alia’s position who would have been able to kill the king and get away with it.
Alia had also managed to have Killian Bune like her. Killian calling Margaret intriguing was far different from how he viewed Alia. Margaret was barely able to convince him to not attack their land for a small ti. Killian had ordered Blackwell guards to be killed around two weeks later. Alia managed to stop him from killing all Blackwells. At least for now.
"The one thing I learned today is that I want to be like you, grandmother. You have so many interesting stories to tell. I feel a little bit better but I need to rest here for a mont," Alia laid back down on Margaret’s lap. To her, this was the safest place in the kingdom.
"Right, you must be tired after walking around. I heard you slept in this morning which is excellent news. Now you won’t be walking around like the dead when morning cos. Sleep and I will wake you up soon," Margaret continued to comb her fingers through Alia’s hair. "You should wear your tiara more to prepare yourself for the crown you will wear soon."
"People will think that I am showing off-"
"Let them. Alia, you are going to marry one of the most powerful and dangerous n across the lands. Your position and power have changed and it is ti for you to like it has. You already radiate confidence but to stand next to a man like Killian you must radiate the confidence as he does. If anyone tries to stand in your path from this mont on, command them to move," Margaret advised Alia.
"I wish I could do those things without needing a man. What if one day Killian does not want
abusing the fact I am his wife to make others listen and respect ?" Alia asked.
Margaret chuckled as she rembered a friend in her youth once worrying about this sa problem. That friend went on stealing everything from her right under her husband after he tossed her to the side and stripped her of her authority. "If you are truly my granddaughter, you will start building up your circle the mont you reach the north. It doesn’t matter that you’re a Blackwell. There will be people willing to be on your side."
"Hmmm. You’ve taught
well enough about building a circle. I won’t let you down grandmother. You and I should have a day out. The previous one ended too quickly. All I can think about now is those pastries," Alia licked her lips.
Margaret pinched her cheek because of the small action. "Why didn’t you get so while you were out in town? I will send soone to collect so for you. It’s too dangerous for us to be in the town a lot. Promise
that you will stay away from it for a while. "
"I promise," Alia lied. She had a feeling that if her grandmother knew she was going with Killian, she wouldn’t mind. Still, Alia was not going to ntion anything about it.
She was determined to show Killian a good side to the people he hated.
"Good. Now get so sleep," said Margaret.
Alia pretended to sleep while she laid down on her grandmother’s lap. So far, Killian was the only person to help her fall asleep.
Hours passed in the castle and the moon had its turn to shine. Dinner had long passed and as the castle beca quiet, Alia was inside her room putting on clothes to appear like a commoner. They were given to her by Gina after her plan to sneak out was told.
Alia wanted Cyrus to rest now that she wouldn’t be in the castle but he inford her of the fact it would seem suspicious if he was suddenly not by her side. She had to admit soone would think she was not in her room because Cyrus went everywhere with her. She promised him she would return in ti for him to get so rest after guarding her for so long.
"I’m ready," Alia covered her head with a coat to hide her hair and the vast majority of her face.
Whoosh!
The sound of sothing flapping was heard outside her window. Alia peeked outside to make sure it was Killian and when it was, she walked to open her balcony door.
"Why did you peek when you knew it was ?" Killian entered the room with his hand behind his back.
"What if it was another demon with wings? I have to be cautious. Not all of your people might enjoy the fact you want to marry
and try to kill
while I am supposed to be sleeping. Why are you smiling?" She stared up at him while he stared down at her.
"Because you have common sense. Good to know my future wife looks out for danger. Let’s go before soone spots us," he turned around.
"Wait! Before we go, I have to ask you sothing. I spoke with my grandmother earlier and she said you called her intriguing as you did with . If she was not married, would you have married her? Hey! Don’t laugh!" Alia poked him in the stomach when he hunched over and began laughing. "You’re the one that seems to like intriguing people. It’s weird to think you might have liked my grandmother when she was younger."
"I enjoy coming by intriguing humans but I have never thought about marrying all of them. If I wanted your grandmother, I would have stolen her away regardless of the fact she was married. Rest assured, I never once thought of marrying or being intimate with her as I did with you. She was far from my type," he whispered before going back to the balcony to double-check to see if he would be able to fly without getting caught.
"What exactly is your type? Please do not just say, . I don’t enjoy those cringy things," said Alia.
"Very well. Soone who throws a shoe at my face, demands I not kill soone when she is outnumbered, kills her own-"
"Enough!" Alia exclaid but then bit her lip as she realized her mistake as soone might hear her. "We should leave quickly before I honestly change my mind. I am ready," she jumped up and down preparing herself to fly in the air for the first ti. "Please make sure you hold
tight enough that I will not fall. If you do, I will crawl my way out of the underworld and kill you."
"I have no intention of killing you before we are married. If you were to sohow die, I would personally fly down to the underworld and bring your soul back myself. Co close for us to leave," he spread out his arms for her to co and approach him.
Alia cautiously walked into his embrace. She was more excited than scared when it ca to flying with him. Never had she imagined that flying like the birds was possible until now. "Oh!" Alia gasped when Killian lifted her.
"Wrap your legs around my waist. It will help with you not falling," he instructed her.
Alia did as she was told and hooked her legs around her waist. Doing this reminded her of the days she would climb trees. This was a very large, muscular, handso tree.
"See sothing you like?" Killian asked after catching her staring at his face. "It can’t be you only now notice how handso I am?"
"I wasn’t looking at your face," she lied and pushed his face away from staring at her. "Just fly."
"Make sure not to scream," Killian said.
Just as Alia blinked, two large wings appeared behind Killian but before she could get a good look at them, they had started to flap and they were lifted from her balcony. Looking down where her balcony was getting smaller and smaller along with the castle, Alia grabbed onto Killian tighter as the excitent faded away and she was starting to be afraid.
"Where did all that confidence from a mont ago disappear?" Killian chuckled, highly amused by how quickly her behavior changed. You should take this chance to look down at the land you own, princess. When will you get to see it again?"
Alia took a chance and looked down at the land once again. She was still scared but she found it interesting to see all of the hos around the castle from this high. "Wow," she stated.
It certainly was sothing a royal should get to see at least once. Seeing the land her family protected for generations created a new fire inside Alia. She knew the kingdom was big but to see it from this height truly showed her how many people depended on their decisions to survive.
