Chapter 54: Chapter 54
"Ah! Thank you," Alia smiled when Cyrus caught her after she jumped from her father’s window.
It was three floors up but Cyrus was adamant he would catch her so she trusted him like always.
Cyrus kept Alia in his arms and ran away from below the king’s window before they could be caught. He was careful to run in the blind spots he used when sneaking around the castle. "We’re-"
"We’re under attack!" A guard yelled followed by a bell being rung.
"The castle is being attacked now? He’s here?" Alia looked at Cyrus with panic written all over her face. Killian Bune was the only person she could think of to attack the castle. The entire timing throughout the night was odd. "We have to get to my grandmother and Gina. We need to find Gina first."
Cyrus quickly changed their direction to go towards the servant quarters. Gina was the type of person to panic and find herself in a lot of danger. As soon as they found her, he would take the both of them to Alia’s grandmother and barricade the room until the castle would calm down.
’Should I speak with Killian as grandmother said? His enemy is no longer alive. Perhaps I can reason with him and et whatever demands he might have,’ Alia thought.
"Princess! Princess! What’s going on?" Gina yelled when she spotted Cyrus with whom she presud was Alia in his arms.
Cyrus swung around hearing Gina’s cries coming from behind them. "Gina, we have to find the king’s mother and then barricade ourselves in a room or flee the castle quickly."
"No," Alia disagreed. "A royal cannot run away while their subjects are in danger. Put
down, Cyrus. I will find Killian and speak with him."
"Absolutely not. Gina, follow ," Cyrus for the first ti since Alia had nad him one of her people, rejected her order. She would not take her anywhere near the king of the north when he was out for blood. He did not want her to be around Killian after he cooled down after learning the king was dead though he knew it was her duty.
"Cyrus put
down," Alia said in a commanding tone. This wasn’t the ti for them to be having an argunt. She could stop more innocent people from dying if she were to seek out Killian right now. "I cannot run and hide while the maids and other servants run around fearing for their lives. I’ve wasted the first run-in I had with Killian by not trying to talk to him about this war."
"It is extrely dangerous, Alia. Let the king deal with it," Gina tugged on Alia’s arm for them to get going to Margaret’s room to hide. The sound of n yelling was heard throughout the castle. For once, she agreed Alia should step aside and let the King do his job. This was not Alia’s fight to end.
Alia couldn’t ntion her father’s death to Gina yet. "Gina, run to where my grandmother is and not allow her to leave. Stay there with her until I return and if I don’t. Leave with her sowhere safe," she removed Gina’s hand from her arm.
"Princess," Gina cried.
"I’m not going to argue with the two of you. I’ve already said what needs to be done. I am going to find," Alia’s words died down when she turned around and saw the man whose words had haunted her since the ti they t. "Killian."
"This is a nice surprise princess. Why are you looking for
instead of hiding? I’m a little annoyed with you tonight," Killian stood with his hands behind his back. None of his n were by his side but Alia, Gina, and Cyrus knew that didn’t an he would be easy to take down.
"I want to create a truce between the north and the Blackwell kingdom. You see," Alia trailed off once again, unable to ntion her father’s death.
"Oh, I know what you have done and it infuriates . If only I had been here a little bit early, I would have had the satisfaction of ending everything. Tell your servant and guard to run along. Let’s have a chat as you wanted," Killian looked down at Alia due to the height difference.
"Princess-"
"Go, Cyrus. Take Gina with you to safety. You’ve said it before king Killian that you wouldn’t hurt soone who has nothing to do with this war. I expect you to keep that promise," Alia pushed her fear to the side and spoke with Killian confidently.
"Fuck," Cyrus cursed as he did not want to leave Alia alone with a man like Killian. "Gina, go to her grandmother’s room. I will protect the princess."
Terrified by Killian’s sudden presence, Gina nodded her head and ran off to find Margaret and keep her safe.
"I’m curious, princess. What did you do to make one of my own people so loyal to you? Loyal enough that he sided with you instead of his own king?" Killian still believed there was so sort of sexual relationship between Alia and her guard.
"I have been kind to him," Alia replied.
"And I have not? I am here on your land to save others like him who have been turned into slaves by your people. Is that not kind of ? He’s standing there with his hand on his sword like I am the bad guy here. It is your own father who started all of this and I am simply here to finish it."
"I agree that you are not the bad guy. As king, you should go against your enemies to protect your people. I would be a hypocrite to stand here and tell you to not harm innocent people in our castle when our n have hurt your people," said Alia. She would be foolish to say that. "However, I never agreed with my father hurting your people as they had nothing to do with the sour relationship you two have and I don’t agree with you hurting people here who had nothing to do with this."
"Who says that we are hurting innocent people? You have been here having a lovely conversation with your servants about running away or finding . What innocent person have you seen us hurt? If your guards run at us, we have no choice but to defend ourselves but we are not attacking those who are running away. We only have one reason for being here," Killian walked forward to be closer to Alia.
"Not another step," Cyrus unsheathed his stand in front of Alia to block her from Killian.
"Now now. Put your pointy sword away before you hurt yourself," Killian pushed Cyrus’s sword out of the way. A low-level demon like Cyrus was no match for Killian. They were both aware of this but it was amusing for Killian to see what lengths soone from the north would do to protect the Blackwell princess."
Alia stepped out from behind Cyrus to continue speaking with Killian face to face. "If my father is dead, will you return to the north? We can create a truce for our two kingdoms to leave each other alone. I can arrange for the court ministers to make it happen."
"Is that so? Do you have that much power to summon the court ministers and create a truce when they are sending you away to be married against your will? What is it that man said? He hoped to keep you alive to hear the princess scream while her husband had his way with her?" Killian looked at Cyrus.
’How long has he been in the castle?’ Cyrus thought. Killian would have to be close by that entire ti. ’Was he in the dungeon? Had he followed
from there?’
It would explain why there were little to no guards roaming around in the dungeon. Killian could have eaten their souls and sent them down to the underworld.
"It doesn’t seem like you have any power even though you are a princess. It amuses
even more you were bold enough to throw your shoe at
and instead of running away you wanted to seek
out. Change my mind quickly," Killian said.
He continued to say with a smug expression, "What can you offer
to change my mind about burning this castle down to the ground? It appears soone got a head start at it. Why are you ruining all of my fun, princess?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Alia feigned ignorance. She had nothing to admit or take credit for. "I take it that since you are entertaining this conversation with
there is sothing on your mind that can stop you from destroying this castle. What is it?"
"You should be the one giving a suggestion but since you have asked, marry ."
"Did you just say to marry you?" Alia asked as she was certain she heard him wrong. "You are aware I am being sent away to marry soone else."
"Break it."
