Chapter 348: Chapter 348

Alia was awoken by sothing or soone pulling on her hair. She knew that it couldn’t be Killian since it wasn’t how he liked to play with her hair and she heard soft noises. Noises that she could never forget.

"Mara," she said, opening her eyes to be greeted by her daughter. "How long have you been here?" Alia asked, pulling Mara close to her. "Did your grandmother or Gina try to put these ribbons in your hair?"

Alia pulled out the pink ribbon that was barely holding onto Mara’s hair. It was sotis useless to put them in Mara’s hair because of how much she moved around. "Your hair seems to have gotten longer," Alia said, pushing back Mara’s ssy hair. "I hope nothing else has changed about you while I was not around."

Alia stared at Mara who sat nibbling on the foot of her toy and staring back at her mother. Alia wondered if Mara was curious about her eyes which were now red or if she had forgotten her own mother. "Shouldn’t you be crying after not seeing

for a few days? I’m certain you cried for your father. Where is he?" Alia asked, sitting up.

Mara put down the toy and tried to crawl to get closer to Alia, but she remained in the sa spot.

Alia smiled and lifted Mara to have her on her lap. "It is not ti for you to start moving on your own, but it will co soon. I hope that it starts off with you crawling and not flying around. I hope that it is so years before you start flying because you will worry

if you fly like your father. We must find him.

Alia slipped off the bed with Mara to look for Killian. She could already hear noises in the ho and sll his scent she had gotten used to after having long hours to themselves to start giving Mara a sibling.

Alia looked out the window at the dark sky. It was never bright in the underworld because there was no sun and it was mostly the light from fires. There was also a redness to the outside which made Alia want to go outside and look up at the sky to see what made it red.

Alia was happy that Mara’s abilities didn’t spiral and her feet ca off the ground.

Alia followed the noise she heard and eventually found Killian dragging around a chair in a space that was empty when she toured the house. "I don’t know whether I should say good morning or good night. I don’t know how to read the sky. How long has Mara been here?" She asked, carefully entering the dining room which had three chairs at the table now.

"For over an hour. She was sleeping when she ca so I placed her in bed with you. I will have her bedroom put together soon. I’ve finished the library for you and placed the dresses Gina packed for you in the room beside our own. I am almost done here," Killian said, leaving to get a painting he took from the Blackwell castle to hang in here.

It needed to start looking like their third ho.

Alia sat down at the table with Mara who had much to look at as she chewed on her little finger. Alia couldn’t believe how many changes he had made while she was sleeping and she was not awakened by the noise.

Killian was fast to make the house that was full of human treasures change from looking like no one lived there to looking like a ho fit for a family. Alia couldn’t help but wonder what he had done with the things he collected over the years and hoped he had not thrown them away.

Alia wanted to hear the stories of his travels and why he kept sothing from that place. She had never ventured out of the north and Blackwell kingdom so his stories would be the push she needed to travel when her ti as queen would co to an end.

She could spend her days living at the border of the two lands, here in the underworld, or travelling with Killian. Whatever they decided when the ti ca, she would be happy as long as Killian was with her and she got to visit her family frequently.

"You must have been awake for a long ti. Co have a seat with us," Alia said when Killian walked back into the room. "I will help you. I only need to find sowhere to put Mara. Maybe I can get her to go back to see for an hour or so."

"That would be impossible now when there is so much to see. Just sit, Alia. I am almost finished," Killian said, stopping to look at his wife and child.

Alia sat pleading with her eyes for him to let her help him while Mara was looking around. It was dark here compared to the brightness in the Blackwell and North castle. Killian walked to the walls where there were lanterns he never used and lit a fire to bring so light to the room.

"I think this is the part where I would be cooking up a al while you work, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t know where to start, and there is no food here. When you feel weak, do you just go out and grab a soul to feast on? What am I to do?" Alia wondered as she did not fully understand how her hunger worked now.

Did she still need human food to fill herself? Killian ate food with her at dinner, but she didn’t think he needed it.

"We won’t need to cook anything down here and I will get souls for all of us. Our ho would be surrounded by hellhounds trying to inspect the strange scent of human food and I would rather not have to bother myself with chasing them away from outside," Killian replied.

Food from the world above wasn’t allowed in the underworld since it might attract curious creatures trying to taste it. The most he would ever bring to the underworld in his ho was the wine. There were a few bottles that were many years old that Alia could drink if she wanted.

"Then I am just relaxing here?"

"Yes," Killian stated what should be obvious. He didn’t want her to worry about the kingdoms while she was here. That was all being taken care of by people they trusted.

Alia slowly nodded her head. It wouldn’t be an easy task to just sit and do nothing while Killian changed around this ho to suit her and Mara.

"Is that hard for you to do?" Killian asked after noticing how uncomfortable Alia beca after being told that she had to sit and do nothing.

"A little bit, but I will get used to it. I’ve always said that I want to be able to just sit around with Mara and now I can. I need to enjoy it as much as I can before we need to go back to our duties. It is also wonderful to see you walking around fixing up the ho. I will rember this side of you tonight when we are trying for another," Alia said, chuckling when Killian looked her way.

"Maybe you should try to put her to sleep," Killian replied, seeing it as a good option now. "Night and day doesn’t matter here. We can make love to each other when we want to."

Alia shook her head as she placed Mara on the ground for her to have a go at crawling again. Of course, what she said would make Killian want to stop what he was doing and get their daughter to sleep.

Killian could get Mara to go to bed by doing what he did to get her to go to sleep in the past, but Alia didn’t think he would ever do it just so they could make love. Not unless he was desperate.

Alia sat back and watched Mara try to decide what she wanted to get her hands on first. The mont she learned to walk, they would have to change up this ho again since she would be pulling at everything.

Alia looked away from Mara to Killian who moved faster to finish what he was doing. Mara wasn’t going to go to sleep so soon when there was so much to see and play with so he could take his ti.

Alia stood up, careful not to get in Mara’s path to disturb her, and walked to where Killian put up a portrait of the three of them. One that was done when Mara was just a few weeks old.

"We need to get a lot more portraits done to fill the walls here. One with my mother, Leonard, and my grandmothers. Then one including Lilith, Edith, Gina, and Alastor. They are also a part of our family. Lucifer will want to join us," Alia said, imagining him already getting dressed for it.

Killian stood with folded arms looking at the portrait he put up. He remained silent since there was no way Alia could convince him to put up a portrait of Lucifer in his ho. He had long thrown out the statues Lucifer made of himself and gifted him.
