Chapter 293: Chapter 293

"This is a bad idea. Why are we sneaking into this castle when there is still light out? No one had the sense to help

stop her from coming to this castle after all it took for us to get her out of it. Why would you want to co back here, Anne? Do you not see the demons in the sky?"

"Why did the three of you force

out of my cave? I was making a special potion," said Sybil. She hated to be down where the humans lived. There was a high chance of one of them ending up in a fire.

"Oh, hush Sybil. No one forced you out of your cave. You accepted my help to get rid of that ugly appearance you had so you could look human. You should be thanking

that you are not as you looked before. And stop using that black magic," Cordelia argued. She was tired of seeing the many animals Sybil started to beco because of her toying with black magic.

"None of you had to co. All I said was that I was going to et my daughter and all of you said you were going to follow . You can turn back now since there is a lot of danger ahead. The demons are in the sky and walk on the land," said Anne.

She could no longer hide and wait for this body she was using to be normal. With Alia marrying a demon and now they were scattered all over the kingdom, Anne had to see her now.

"We need to think of how this can go wrong, Anne. You don’t want to eat us because we are witches, but what if you are suddenly in the mood to attack and eat your daughter? That is not a good reunion. For humans, at least. We are used to our mothers trying to kill us and drop us in a pot for a potion," Ramona said, looking at her missing finger.

"I won’t try to eat my daughter-"

"You’ve eaten anyone who has wandered near our ho. Have you forgotten that we did sothing that could have gotten us punished? We stole your soul from the underworld and the devil would not like that. With all of these demons flying around, the devil has to be here, and he will know that you are a soul in a borrowed body," Cordelia warned.

They should all head back now and wait to see what happens to this castle in the morning, or sneak in at night to avoid being seen by anyone.

"I cannot wait. I must see my daughter and make sure that she is okay. I should have taken her away from here when you awakened . I had been a fool to leave her here surrounded by those bastards. I don’t care who awaits us in that castle, I must find my daughter and get her out of it. Please turn back now if you will try to stop ," Anne said, continuing to push through the thick grass of the field they were walking through.

The back of the Blackwell castle was in view, and she could already see the demons flying around over it and the town.

Anne heard the tales of the demon Killian from her mothers and how Alia would be safe with him, but as a mother, she could not stop worrying about Alia. It was not the demons that she feared attacking Alia, it was the people in the castle, like Margaret. She wanted Alia to not have to go through what the priests called a cleanse. It didn’t make the body new, and all it did was torture the person the priests held captive.

Anne wanted to return when news of demons taking over the castle reached her ears weeks ago, but then news of Alia’s marriage was heard, and from what she gathered from Sybil, Alia was happy with her husband.

Sybil stopped walking since Anne said they could leave, and she expected the other two would follow her lead to go back ho, but they continued to run after Anne like two fools. Sybil sighed, knowing she had no choice but to follow them to keep them safe. Why couldn’t Anne have accepted the invitation to et her daughter before all of this? They could have t in her cave.

"There is a way to get in at the back of the castle. We won’t be stopped by any guards. They should all be running for their lives right about now. Here," Anne said, running out of the grass to the place in the castle wall that was sealed out with large stones. "Do any of you have a spell to move those or make them disappear?"

"Do we look like magicians to you?" Sybil asked, pushing Anne out of the way.

"Sybil," Cordelia warned in a low growl. "Do not push her again."

"I will never understand how all of you beca so attached to this human. Rember to not let any of our sisters know that I have been around you and not killed this human. Now, where does the tunnel go?" Sybil asked, hoping it did not go anywhere nasty. She did not want to ruin her new appearance.

"It takes us to where all the wine is stored. The hole was never properly taken care of, and a guard was placed to guard it from thieves. I doubt there will be a guard here now with all that is going on. Are you certain you are not like the people who call themselves magicians? You made the stones disappear," Anne said, amazed by how easily Sybil made the passage clear.

Sybil resisted the urge to give Anne a good smack over the head. How many tis did she need to hear that they were not magicians? They were witches. Those humans did not use real magic but simple tricks to fool the people watching. "They got magic from us. Witches are the true magic users-"

"Enough," Ramona said, covering Sybil’s loud mouth. "We don’t need every demon knowing that we are coming into the castle. We are sneaking in, rember?"

"She yelled out here when she saw the way in, and none of you shushed her," Sybil argued.

"Because we like her and you are being a loud nuisance. Stay out here to guard our way out if you will continue to annoy us," Cordelia said, following after Ramona and Anne.

"I am not staying out here when there might be a lot of dead bodies for

to collect pieces from. I will get a few fingers and then I will leave all of you to be burned. There are demons who turn everything on fire and then humans who love to start a fire when we co around-"

"Sybil," Anne sighed. She regretted not sneaking off so she did not have to hear them constantly worrying. She knew the dangers and accepted them because her daughter was here. If she died once more, she would be satisfied with just holding Alia once more before it happened.

Anne led the group through the storage area that had no light. It took so ti for them to find the bit of light peeping through a hole in the door and walk up the shaky steps to open the door. There were not any guards on the outside, as Anne rembered.

The demons were a perfect distraction for them to sneak in without being stopped by Blackwell’s guards. Anne stood still as she looked at the inside of the castle. This place was full of terrible mories from the very first ti she was brought here. Instead of being with the man she liked, she was forced to marry Richard.

The whore of a king who couldn’t fathom that she would never love him. Then she had to deal with his mistresses, who wanted to get a rise out of her. The only light in this castle was Alia, Leonard, and, at one point in ti, Margaret before she knew about the witches.

Aside from eting with Alia, she had sothing to finish with Margaret and her priests. If there was anyone who deserved to be eaten, it was the priests for taking her away from her daughter so soon.

It pained her to hear that Margaret was taking care of Alia. If Alia knew, she would not love her grandmother as she once did. Anne did not want Alia to know the truth of how she died and ca to hate their family even more, so she would kill Margaret in secret and hide what happened.

"She must be in her room, the throne room, or heading into town. We must be quick in case she is going to town. If we run into any priests, you can kill them as you like," Anne said, leading them to the throne room, and then they would head to Alia’s room.

From where they walked, Anne could see her tower covered in black marks and knew it must have been destroyed.
