Chapter 240: Chapter 240

"Leonard always wants to do the right thing and he’s no longer in the castle. It’s sowhat not surprising he would try to help find the rest of the northerners. He wouldn’t want a war to start because our people were not returned to the north. Leonard would never listen to Fraser so it was only a matter of ti before he left anyway. He only stood by my father to watch over . His last deed for my mother," Alia said.

"A war will start despite his efforts. Your cousin will never let the north be after we invaded the castle. The Blackwells have sothing to prove before other kingdoms think they are weak and try to take over their land. They missed out big by not signing a truce with us. It would have guaranteed no one would want to fight against them for a while when they believed the North would join the fight," Killian said, touching the mirror to make it stop showing them Leonard.

"If we go to war with Fraser, it just ans a lot of people from that side will lose. Neither kingdom needs war at the mont. At least we can keep an eye on what Fraser is doing and stay ahead of whatever he intends to do. I don’t know much about what you plan to do with Fraser, but please don’t bring the innocent people who already lost so much into this. Focus on Fraser and the n in the court. Can we magically appear in our room now? I’m tired," Alia said, holding onto Killian’s arm and resting her head against him.

"I need to cover this first. Will we be attending dinner or are you too tired? I am not exactly in the mood to see or listen to Lucifer at dinner. I am considering sending him back down into the underworld soon," Killian replied whilst covering the mirror just as they had found it.

"I don’t mind going down to dinner. We’ve already abandoned our guest once. It wouldn’t be fair to skip out on dinner. You don’t have to join

if you don’t want to. I will say you are sick," said Alia.

"They’ll know you’re lying in two ways. One, you forget we’re good at picking up on lies, and two, a demon like

would never get sick. Still, I appreciate your willingness to try lying for . Co with ," Killian held her hand to lead her out of the room. Since the room was well protected so no one could steal what was inside, he could not take her to their room from the inside.

"Wait," Alia said when they got outside. "Before we leave, there is sothing I need to do. Please wait here for a mont. Cyrus!" She called to him when she spotted him for a slight second. Alia had not gotten the chance to speak with him because she was so distracted and then she had left with Killian.

Alia left Killian’s side to try reaching Cyrus in ti before she would lose sight of him.

"Queen Bune," Cyrus addressed her. He heard the faint sound of Alia calling after him and thought it to be a trick of his mind, but was surprised when he slled her so far down near the gates of the underworld. "Isn’t it too hot for you?"

Alia wiped her forehead and felt sweat coat her fingers. "It is, but it isn’t unbearable for now. Killian and I were just taking a walk," she said, pointing behind her at Killian who ca closer to keep an eye on her. "We were supposed to talk after the coronation. Wait, why are you so far down? Were you going to the gates?"

"Not exactly. I was going to ask a question. What do you want to speak about, Queen-"

"You know that it is alright to call

Alia. I always give you that permission when we are alone. You’ve been acting strange recently Cyrus. It started when you were to send Jahi out of the castle. Did that anger you?" Alia inquired since it could not have been easy for him to send away soone he loved, but she had given Jahi chance after chance.

"It didn’t. You had to look out for yourself and Jahi might have hard you if she stayed in the castle. She has not gotten over her anger yet. I am concerned with the things she is doing to get at you. I know that I promised to stay by your side, but I will need to leave to look for Jahi," Cyrus said, looking away from Alia as this wasn’t sothing easy to do.

"I see. So you will be living down the mountain with her or did you co here to learn what you needed to do to go back into the underworld? It is fine honestly," Alia said, smiling to hide what she really felt. "I can’t keep you back from doing what matters most to you. I’ll ask Killian to let you and Jahi enter the gates to go ho when you are ready. So, when do you plan to leave the castle?"

"Tomorrow morning," Cyrus answered. He needed to start his search for Jahi as soon as possible before she ended up anywhere near Agramon again.

"I see," Alia said. She was hurt by the fact Cyrus knew he wanted to leave tomorrow morning, but he had not co to her to inform her earlier. "Had I not seen you now, would you have just left in the morning? Leaving a note or have Gina tell ?"

"No, I would owe you a proper goodbye. I ant to tell you earlier than this, but Gina did not want

to ruin your day," Cyrus replied.

"Gina already knows you’re leaving? I feel this has been on your mind longer than I realized. Would I be able to plan a goodbye party for you now? I don’t think I have ti and I don’t have a gift. I suppose I can find one in ti for when you return to enter the gates. It was nice having you by my side," Alia stepped forward to hug him. She would cherish the ti she spent with Cyrus.

No one could ever replace Cyrus in the future when she would need to get another guard. There was a bond between the two of them that was unexplainable. She could not count on both her hands how many tis Cyrus had kept her safe and guarded her door for many hours during the night.

"I hope this will not be a goodbye forever. You could co back once in a while to pay a visit or maybe I can visit you in the underworld one day. It’s too soon for our trio to be over with," Alia said as she pulled away from the hug. "It is alright if you do not wish to return-"

"I will be back before you know it, Alia. I just need to get settled in with Jahi and help her find the person she once was. When she no longer holds any hatred toward you, I will co up to visit. There is no need for you to find

a gift. You have other things to deal with. I do not want to keep you two waiting. It is too hot for you here," Cyrus said, watching her continue to sweat while he and Killian were unaffected by the heat.

"Right," Alia looked at Killian once more. It was a bit disappointing that there was not much Cyrus wanted to say when his departure was eating her up inside. It could not be helped that it was always so hard for her to say goodbye to the people she cared for.

Alia turned around to walk back to Killian. It was becoming too hot for her to bear and this conversation with Cyrus was not what she expected when she approached him.

Alia thought he was having a hard ti adapting to the fact she was now a Queen and after they talked, she expected everything would be back to normal. Instead, Cyrus was leaving and she didn’t have ti to get used to this since he would be leaving in the morning.

Alia didn’t expect him to stay by her side forever and was beyond thankful he stayed longer despite his original plan of leaving the mont he found Jahi, but this was so soon.

"Thank you, Alia. For saving

in the past and taking care of

more than you needed to. I will forever be indebted to you," Cyrus said just as she reached Killian. He hated to leave her side now when she needed all the people who supported her by her side, but he had to leave before Jahi would do sothing foolish. He did not search high and low just to let her die.

"You aren’t indebted to , Cyrus. It is

who owes you. Thank you for always protecting . Killian, I want to go back to our room now," Alia said, looking away from Cyrus as this goodbye would soon be t by tears.
