Chapter 118: Chapter 118

"Well, the most important thing is that the two of you are reunited. Cyrus, you can take the rest of the day off since I am going to be in my room finishing with my packing until dinner, and then after that, I am just going to sleep," Alia said then gave Jahi a look after she snorted. ’I know she must have gone through a lot but this attitude is going to get old quickly,’ she thought.

The last thing Alia had on her mind was dealing with petty argunts when she had to finish packing, prepare for the truce eting first thing tomorrow morning, and say her goodbyes as she would be heading for the north with Killian where they would imdiately have to start preparing for their wedding.

"I am going to leave you to have so alone ti. Goodbye to all of you," she looked at Killian as she said this since she was not here to spend any ti with him. Alia proceeded to walk away, already forgetting about the interactions she had with the woman.

Not caring about Cyrus or the woman beside him on a personal level, Killian walked away.

"You’re really trying to convince

to like her," Jiha pointed at the back of Alia’s fra as she walked away.

"I am not trying to convince you to do anything. I am just telling you she is not the enemy and the king that you so love would not have been marrying her if she was. Alia is a good person and it won’t be long before you see what I saw but I am warning you once again to stop being rude or talking about her," Cyrus said and then glanced over his shoulder where Killian was staring at him.

It was evident that Killian could hear every word they were saying and would not be pleased. Cyrus did not know if Killian had already inford Alia of what was said earlier.

"Co this way," Cyrus took Jahi’s hand to lead her back to his room. It would be a little bit better for them to speak there.

"Must have been nice to live here," Jahi comnted as they walked through the castle. "Had we not gotten separated I wonder if I would have ended up here or does the princess only care to save a man? You did not sleep with her right? These people here seem to love sleeping with their servants though they are promised to each. They are worse than demons."

Cyrus said when passing by maids gave Jahi a look for the words she said out loud. "Jahi, the princess and I do not have that sort of relationship and it would be best if you do not talk about her out loud. The castle maids indulge themselves in more gossip than you can imagine. I’ve heard too much nonsense about the princess and

but it upsets

more coming from you."

"Right. I shouldn’t expect you to take interest in her when you have been with

once before. I hope that your feelings towards

have not changed since you have been here." Jahi knew Cyrus had always loved her but she denied his advances as she did not see him that way. He was simply a friend so wished to keep it that way but now that Alia was in the picture, she considered being with Cyrus romantically.

"I still consider you a good friend," Cyrus replied.

He once loved Jahi but after she told him about remaining friends, he let go of it. It was Alia and Gina who misunderstood his feelings for Jahi. He would always love her but he had long moved on.

Jahi’s shoulders dropped as his response was not what she wanted but she would take it for now. His response was most likely like that now because her appearance was not the best. Once she fed on sothing, she would look better than the princess and any other woman here. She did not mind how the maids they passed by would look at her attire and laugh. They will eat their laughter once she gets all cleaned up.

"This will now be your room under the princess’s orders," Cyrus stopped at the room beside him. Many tis he and Jahi had talked about what it would be like to live in a castle and now they would both experience it. The castle Jahi wanted to live in was the one in the underworld but the Blackwell one wasn’t so bad.

Cyrus opened the door to let her see how much better it was than where they lived back ho.

Jahi inspected the large room she could have all to herself but she did not want any because of the princess. "Can I stay in your room? I don’t want to be all alone yet. I will feel safer knowing that you are nearby. Just until I have eaten enough for my wounds to start healing. The king was handing out souls he has been pulling out from the underworld for us to feed on. After a couple more, I will be back to normal."

Thinking nothing of it as they slept in the sa room once before when the weather was strong and destroyed Jahi’s ho, Cyrus closed the door and led her to his bedroom. His only focus from right now was to help her forget about this entire experience and heal.

Jahi entered Cyrus’s bedroom and frowned when she found his scent in the room to be faint. "Are you not here often?" She asked.

"If the princess is sowhere safe I retire to my room or if she forces

to do so. I normally stand guard outside her door because it is not safe for her here," Cyrus explained.

Jahi found everything she was hearing about the princess to be funny. She was angered just by thinking about Cyrus not getting any rest. Luckily, that would all end when they returned to the north. "When we return ho we should move and start fresh far away from the border so this can never happen again. I should be healed by nightfall so you should tell the princess you are quitting before then. We should get a head start before the king leaves."

Cyrus scratched the back of his head as that was not in his plans. He wanted to follow Alia to the castle to make sure she would be safe and once she had settled in, he would move on with his life. "I am going to follow the princess to the north-"

"Why?" Jahi exclaid. What more did he need to do for the princess when he was already her guard far longer than he needed to be? How much longer did the princess intend to use Cyrus when there were capable n from both kingdoms to protect her? Why Cyrus? Jahi started to think that there was sothing romantic going on from the princess’s side. "That bitch-"

"Alia. Princess Alia and our future queen," Cyrus corrected her. He did not allow anyone to disrespect Alia even if it was Jahi. He spent a lot of ti with Alia. Seeing her at her best and worst. He saw her vulnerable side many tis and did not want anyone to hurt her. "She wants to be a good queen and based on what I saw there is no one more qualified. She will work hard to make sure what happened to you never happens again."

"Ha!" Jahi scoffed and angrily ran her hand through her hair. "The underworld must be freezing over since you are going so hard for a human. A human whose people hurt our people. She has you and the king under so spell. I know a witch when I see one."

Cyrus clenched his fist to refrain from yelling at Jahi for all the nonsense she had been saying since she laid eyes on Alia. It wouldn’t hurt for her to just listen to what he was saying about the type of person Alia was and trust him. He didn’t like the position it would put him in to have two won he cared for in different ways be at odds with each other.

He deed it useful for Alia to take Jahi by her side as a personal maid just like Gina. Jahi’s status would increase and she would not have to go back to her old life of farming to make money. It was hard to sell what they grew in the past. They could have a better life once Jahi released the person behind her suffering was already dead and Alia could not be blad.

"I will give you so space to clean up. I will bring you back warm food and a dress to wear. Do not ask about where I will be getting the dress from," Cyrus quickly spoke when he saw her open her mouth to reject the dress. He intended to get it from Gina. "I will be back."
