94: Chapter 94: A Man of Courage 94: Chapter 94: A Man of Courage “Beat him up!” Brian Johnson roared, and the two bodyguards charged forward first.

He and two other friends also rushed up, making it five against one—a surefire group assault with not an ounce of danger, hence they had no reservations.

In the past, he had done similar things, letting the bodyguards knock his adversary down or beat them until they were powerless, and then he would step in, displaying his so-called heroic deanor.

Lucy Campbell was such a captivating beauty that with her presence, he had forgotten all about Emily Jenkins.

To impress Lucy, who liked watching fights, he was eager to put on a show to win over her heart.

He was even imagining how Lucy would look at him with adoration, how she’d throw herself into his embrace, and how he’d relish the company of such a beauty.

Wishes are splendid, but reality is brutally disappointing—not only bone dry but not even a scrap of skin left.

He hadn’t seen what happened when two dark figures flew over his head, and suddenly, Jas Brown’s face eerily appeared in front of him.

He couldn’t even emit a startled “Ah” when a large hand had already made intimate contact with his face—twice.

The imnse force instantly made him uncontrollably turn left and then right, his head buzzing with noise and his vision exploding with stars, his brain almost void of thought, and then he plopped down on the ground, seated.

The fight was over too fast; within less than fifteen seconds, five n lay on the ground.

Emily Jenkins was dumbfounded; this was not at all what she had expected.

She thought it was Jas Brown who was supposed to be beaten, but now all five n were down.

Lucy Campbell, on the other hand, was thrilled.

She loved seeing this kind of heroic air from Jas Brown.

Watching his back reminded her again of the incident in the jungle—this was the back that had carried her through bullets and saved her life by blocking a deadly bullet.

Lost in the sight, she found herself entranced.

At that mont, Jas Brown turned around.

Lucy quickly regained her composure, looked at Jas with a smile, and said, “These guys really can’t take a punch.”

Jas Brown gave her an annoyed look, then said to Emily Jenkins, “Let’s go, let’s head back.”

Emily hazily followed Jas Brown out, with Lucy trailing behind.

anwhile, Brian Johnson finally regained his senses, struggled to stand, and cursed loudly, “Fuck, you dare to hit ?

I’ll fuckin’ end you!”

Jas Brown swiftly turned back with a frigid stare that froze Brian Johnson in place, who felt as if predators had locked their sights on him.

Goosebumps covered his skin, and he involuntarily took a step back, tripping over a comrade’s leg and letting out a horrible yelp as he tumbled awkwardly to the ground—looking utterly disgraceful.

By the ti he managed to get up again, Jas and the others were long gone.

“Who was that kid?” Brian Johnson raged, questioning Emily Jenkins’ two colleagues.

“We don’t know either; we’ve never seen him before,” they responded in unison, equally shocked by what had just happened.

A bodyguard struggled to his feet and murmured softly, “Mr.

Johnson, he must be that lady’s neighbor; that’s what they said earlier.”

“That prick, acting all tough just because he’s a neighbor?

I’m fucking done playing; I’m gonna wreck him, damn it, both of you are useless!” Brian Johnson was inflad by the bodyguard’s words, and his curses grew louder.

Both bodyguards felt bitter—they had no clue Jas Brown was so formidable; they hadn’t even seen how he struck before they were downed.

“Mr.

Johnson, that guy must be a pro.”

“No shit, don’t I know he’s a pro?

But what can he do about it, no matter how good he is?

I don’t believe I can’t deal with him!” Brian Johnson was spiteful.

He wasn’t afraid of a good fighter—he could deal with one head-on, but if Jas Brown had no power or influence, Brian Johnson wouldn’t consider him a threat.

anwhile, Jas Brown had already taken Emily Jenkins back ho.

Lucy Campbell and Emily sat on his sofa, while Jas squatted beside Emily, treating the cuts on her hand.

Biting her lip, tears swirling in her eyes, Emily said, “Big Brother Brown, be gentle, it really hurts.”

Jas grasped Emily’s wrist firmly, preventing any movent, and replied, “You’ll have to bear with it.

If I don’t remove the glass shards, you’ll have to go to the hospital and have a nurse do it.”

“But it’s really painful.”

“Now you know it hurts, how co you didn’t feel it earlier?”

“At that ti, I was just thinking about fighting them, so I didn’t feel the pain,” Emily pouted, feeling wronged.

“You’re pretty tough to take on three guys like that.”

On that note, Jas genuinely admired Emily; most girls would likely be scared stiff in such a situation, but she had the courage to fight back.

“Yeah, I’m tough.

When I was a kid, I’d fight with those boys, and they couldn’t beat .

But after I started middle school, I couldn’t beat them anymore.”

Both Jas and Lucy couldn’t help but laugh; the girl had a heroic past of her own.

Jas finished treating Emily’s wound quickly and with ease, as he was accustod to such tasks.

In the field, injuries were inevitable, either to himself or to his comrades, so basic dical care was a skill he couldn’t do without.

Emily lifted her hand to inspect it and said, “Not bad at all.

You know, Big Brother Brown, you’d make a good nurse—lots of pretty ladies would want your services.”

Jas rolled his eyes, “Why do I feel there’s sothing off about that remark?”

Emily Jenkins chuckled and said, “Really, isn’t that the trend now?

Like at those won’s clubs, where all the service staff are handso young n.”

Jas Brown glared at Emily, saying, “I really shouldn’t bother with you, coming back and daring to talk to like that.”

Emily stuck out her tongue cutely and apologized, “Big Brother Brown, I’m so sorry, I truly am grateful to you.

Here, you’re the only one I can turn to for help, and you’ve really been there for .”

At this mont, Lucy Campbell asked, “Don’t you have any family here?”

Emily pouted and replied, “My parents have passed away, now I’m all by myself.”

Lucy imdiately apologized with guilt, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know about your parents.”

Emily wasn’t sad but appeared sowhat despondent.

However, she quickly let out a light laugh and said, “It’s alright, I was very sad at first, but now I don’t think about them as much.

They have each other over there, and I’m still young, capable of taking care of myself.”

Emily then turned her gaze to Lucy and said, “Sister Campbell, you’re so beautiful, definitely the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen.

Compared to you, those so-called big stars are nothing.”

With a glance at Jas, Lucy smiled and said, “Being pretty isn’t always a good thing; it can bring a lot of trouble.”

Emily imdiately nodded in agreent, emphatically responding, “Right, right, it’s such a hassle now.”

Jas stood up at that point and said, “Alright, have you two had enough chat?

If you’re done, then go back to your own hos and stop hanging around here.”

Emily imdiately pouted and pleaded, “Big Brother Brown, look at my hand, I definitely can’t cook tonight.

Can I have dinner at your place?”

Jas looked at Emily both annoyed and amused, questioning, “Have you ever cooked for yourself?”

“Does making instant noodles count?”

“What do you think?”

“Then I guess not…” Emily shalessly looked at Jas, grinned, and said, “Big Brother Brown, you should help out to the end.

How about I mooch als at your place for the next couple of days?”

“You’re so shaless,” Jas chided her with a laugh.

Lucy imdiately squinted her eyes playfully and propositioned, “Can I join in too?

I also can’t cook.”

Jas was rather speechless; these two neighbors really treated his place like a cafeteria.

Lucy chuckled mischievously and said, “Hehe, I won’t eat for free, I’ll pay for my als.”

Jas stretched out his hand and stated, “That’s more like it.

Fourteen dollars a day, pay as you eat; fair is fair.”

Lucy was about to agree when Emily exclaid, “Big Brother Brown, that’s so steep!

It’s too expensive.”

Jas boasted with a smirk, “You can choose not to eat, you know?”

“But I’m already out of money,” Emily said with a pout.

“You just got paid, didn’t you?” Jas widened his eyes.

The last ti he saw Emily, she had said she’d be getting her paycheck in a few days, and it had been over a week now.

The airline company was doing well, and it was unlikely that there would be a delay in paynt.

Emily stuck out her tongue sheepishly and explained, “I loaned it to a workmate.

She needed the money urgently for so family issues.”

“Didn’t you consider how you’d live afterward?”

“I…

I was thinking of borrowing so from you,” Emily said, her face turning red this ti.

Jas was completely defeated by Emily; not only did she want to freeload als and drinks, but she also intended to borrow money from him.

Lucy laughed softly and offered, “Emily, I’m your neighbor too.

If you need money, I can lend you so.”

“Really?

That’s great!” Emily exclaid excitedly, but she quickly stuck out her tongue again and said bashfully, “I’d still rather borrow from Big Brother Brown.”

Lucy, sharp as ever, realized from Emily’s words that Emily definitely felt closer to Jas.

If she were an ordinary woman and saw that Jas had a good relationship with Emily, she might feel uncomfortable.

But Lucy didn’t think that way; she rarely fell for a man, and she would have been disappointed if he’d been too ordinary.

Now it seed that despite Jas being just a corporate employee, attracting won like Emily and Gina Lopez was validation she hadn’t been wrong about him.

Emily, oblivious to the fact that she’d already beco part of the reason Lucy favored Jas, had no idea what was going on in Lucy’s mind.
