82: Chapter 82 Emma Campbell’s Trouble 82: Chapter 82 Emma Campbell’s Trouble Gina Lopez had been quite busy these last few days, with Jas Brown running around with her as her dedicated driver.
They rarely returned to the logistics departnt.
However, Jas hadn’t seen Lucy Campbell since.
When Gina was working, Jas knew that she had a good relationship with Lucy, who had agreed to invest in YODC City and had also reached so cooperative agreents with Gina.
The main focus for Gina these days was shuttling between the branch office and the headquarters.
With such an opportunity at the branch office, the headquarters naturally took it very seriously, and for them, it was like a pie falling from the sky.
Yet, Gina was sowhat displeased because the people from the headquarters were clearly there to take credit.
They interfered a lot, and if their interference had resulted in anything good, Gina might have accepted it, but from her perspective, they were only suggesting detrintal ideas and seeking benefits from Lucy.
If things went poorly, and Lucy got upset, all could be lost.
After several busy days, it was finally the weekend again, and Jas could relax for two days.
His plan was to rest well, go out for so drinks, and hang out at bars.
But plans change faster than they can be made, and Emma Campbell called, saying she wanted to co over.
Jas thought about refusing, but hearing the tone in Emma’s voice, which seed a bit suppressed, he gave her the address and let her co over.
About an hour later, Emma arrived at Jas’ place, holding a bag of fruit, which Jas accepted with a smile saying, “You didn’t have to bring anything, just yourself!”
Emma seed quite normal at that mont, her cheeks blushing as she said, “It’s my first ti at Big Brother Brown’s place, it would be rude not to bring a little sothing.”
“No worries about politeness, co in and have a seat.” Jas ushered Emma inside and fetched a pair of slippers for her.
After changing into the slippers, Emma began to look around Jas’ apartnt, and Jas comnted with a smile, “This place I rent is a bit small, isn’t it?”
Emma gently nodded, saying, “I thought Big Brother Brown being a manager would have a bigger place.”
“My manager position is just temporary, actually, I’m just a regular employee earning just a little over three thousand a month.”
Facing Jas, Emma said, “I believe Big Brother Brown will definitely beco a real manager in the future, then you’ll earn a lot of money.”
Jas laughed, saying, “You sure have confidence in .”
“Of course, I do!
Big Brother Brown is so capable, becoming a big manager or even a CEO in the future will be easy.”
Jas laughed heartily, “You little flatterer, now you’ve learned how to butter soone up.”
Emma suddenly beca shy, “Not really, I just think Big Brother Brown is capable.”
After chatting casually for a bit, Emma stood up, “Big Brother Brown, let help you clean up the room.”
Jas knew refusing would hurt Emma, so he said, “That would be a big help, thank you.”
“It’s no trouble at all, not at all.” Emma imdiately brightened, efficiently tidying up Jas’ place.
These days, being busy ant that Jas hadn’t had ti to properly tidy up his room, and it was sowhat ssy.
Emma cleaned vigorously, smiling as she washed clothes, including his shirt and the underwear he wore the previous night.
Girls like Emma are one in a million.
Beyond her beauty, it was her diligence that truly set her apart, outshining ninety-nine percent of other girls who are pampered and rarely do household chores, let alone as well as Emma.
With her gentle, caring nature and beautiful face, she really was a rare find.
Emma definitely was the kind of girl suitable for a wife, which Jas fully acknowledged and couldn’t deny.
“Emma, I sensed sothing was wrong when you called earlier.
Did sothing happen?” Jas asked from the bathroom doorway, looking at Emma as she hand-washed his clothes by the sink.
Emma paused for a mont then shook her head, “It’s nothing major, just so friction with a roommate.”
“Friction with a roommate, did soone bully you?” Jas couldn’t imagine Emma getting into an argunt; if there was friction, it must’ve been the others bullying her.
“Not exactly bullying.
My roommate likes a guy, and they are currently quite close, but he keeps… sneaking glances at .
Then my roommate gets angry and accuses of… seducing her boyfriend.”
Emma stuttered slightly as she spoke.
Though her words were few, Jas could tell the accusations must have been harsh, or else Emma, typically so gentle, would’ve let it go.
Jas felt a pang of sympathy, “Emma, do you want to stand up for you?”
“Ah, no need, we are roommates after all.
It’s just a little friction, she’ll understand eventually and won’t be mad anymore.”
Jas sighed.
Emma was just too kind, but so people always took kindness for weakness, especially those who were full of themselves and egoistic.
“Big Brother Brown, I’m not angry anymore,” Emma Campbell turned her head to Jas Brown with a sweet smile, then said, “Big Brother Brown, help find two clothes hangers please.”
Jas Brown found the clothes hangers, and Emma hung up all the washed clothes and cleaned up the bathroom thoroughly before coming out.
“You must be tired, co have so fruit,” Jas Brown offered Emma an apple.
Emma took the apple and thanked him, her eyes brimming with a happy smile.
She opened her mouth slightly and bit gently into the apple.
Jas Brown felt sowhat uneasy eting Emma’s gaze.
The girl was so good-natured that being with her, he felt like he was desecrating her.
“How has your father been doing lately?”
Emma looked worried and replied, “My dad has been okay; he hasn’t gambled recently.
But I feel that he’s suffering, trying to resist.
I’m just afraid that he might not be able to hold out and might start gambling again soday.”
Jas Brown knew that for soone like Emma’s father, quitting gambling wasn’t sothing that could be achieved once or twice.
Sooner or later, he would need to deal with him properly; otherwise, if her father relapsed, it would be bad enough that he hard himself, but if he hard Emma too, that would be truly regrettable.
At that mont, Emma’s cheap cell phone rang.
She took it out, glanced at the number, and her expression darkened.
Jas Brown frowned and asked, “Whose call is it?”
Emma bit her lip and responded, “It’s my roommate’s.”
“Then answer it.
I want to see what she really wants,” Jas Brown encouraged, patting Emma on the shoulder.
Encouraged by Jas Brown, Emma pressed the answer button and brought the phone to her ear.
“Emma Campbell, you slut, how dare you seduce my boyfriend?
I’m not letting this go.”
As soon as the call connected, a sharp voice screeched from the phone, loud enough for Jas Brown to hear.
Emma’s face turned pale, but she still spoke softly, “Emily Johnson, I really didn’t do it.
I don’t even like him; he always cos to talk to .
I thought he was your boyfriend, so I spoke to him.”
“Don’t play the victim here.
If you stayed away from him, would he still talk to you?
Hmph, you act so disgustingly on purpose, just to seduce him.
I’m right at the school entrance now; co here and explain yourself face to face, or don’t bla for being rude.”
“I…
I’m out right now,” Emma glanced at Jas Brown.
“I don’t care where you are.
I’m giving you 20 minutes.
If you don’t co, don’t think about staying in this dorm or having a good ti at university.
I, Emily Johnson, an what I say.”
Jas Brown, genuinely angry, patted Emma’s shoulder and said, “Promise her.”
Emma bit her lip, nodded, and spoke into the phone, “Okay, I’ll co right over.”
After hanging up, tears began streaming down Emma’s face.
She twisted her fingers in distress, her tears continuously falling onto her pants.
Jas Brown put an arm around Emma’s shoulders, and she imdiately buried her head in his chest and cried out loud.
“Alright, stop crying.
I’ll go with you.
I want to see what that little brat can really do to you.”
Feeling Jas Brown’s anger, Emma felt both comforted and anxious.
She quickly sat up and said nervously, “Big Brother Brown, please don’t hit her, no matter what.
She’s still a girl, and I think…
if we talk it out, everything will be fine.”
“Mm, I’m not one to hit people easily.
Go wash your face; I’ll help you resolve this matter.
No matter what, we can’t let you be bullied at school.”
Emma nodded, washed her face, and then left with Jas Brown.
Emma’s school was quite far from where Jas Brown lived; even by taxi, it took over 20 minutes.
Jas Brown believed Emma wouldn’t normally afford a taxi to co here.
Near the school, Emma found Emily Johnson, who was a fairly attractive girl but seed sowhat garish, with dyed yellow hair, a pointed chin, black-polished nails, and fashionable clothes that hardly seed befitting of a student.
Standing with Emily Johnson was another girl, smoking a cigarette and dressed in a leather outfit, giving off the vibe of a tough chick.
Upon seeing Emma arrive with Jas Brown, the two girls exchanged glances.
Clearly, the presence of an adult man was sowhat intimidating to them.
But seeing Jas Brown dressed very ordinarily, Emily Johnson didn’t take him seriously and haughtily said to Emma, “Emma Campbell, look at you bringing soone over.”
The other tough chick sized up Jas Brown, scoffed dismissively.
Emma said in a low voice, “Emily Johnson, I…
I didn’t bring anyone over; he’s my…
friend.
I really didn’t an to, I…”
