The man gave his hand a flick, and a dagger flashing cold light appeared in his hand. Realizing that John Brown had silently appeared behind him, he knew John Brown was a master, so he didn’t dare to act presumptuously and imdiately revealed his weapon.

Lowering his body, the dagger struck at John Brown like a vicious snake flicking its tongue.

John Brown was taken aback, realizing at once that this person’s first move displayed a powerful strength, not just strong but extrely strong, comparable to the level of Martin Miller, at least.

There weren’t many masters like this, John knew, and although he knew of most of them, from this person’s figure, they didn’t match any of the people he knew.

With a shift in his steps, John Brown lifted his leg to kick towards the opponent’s wrist.

The opponent’s wrist shook, and the dagger changed from a straight stab to a horizontal slash towards John’s ankle. The speed of the move change was sothing John had to admire.

John changed moves even faster; his foot quickly sank downwards and he punched towards the opponent’s chest.

The person couldn’t use the dagger to counterattack at this ti; their body seed to be blown away by John’s punch, drifting straight back.

The two had just crossed paths, already displaying their strong abilities, and that guy snorted, saying stiffly in SSUP Country’s language, "Didn’t expect soone as formidable as you protecting her."

John Brown did not make another move, just looked at him coldly.

Their gazes t for a few seconds and the person’s body suddenly moved, darting past John Brown’s side, leaping out the window as if committing suicide by jumping off a building.

John Brown didn’t stop him. If it were a life-and-death fight, he was confident he could kill the opponent, but if the opponent intended to escape, John had no way to keep him. Since he was leaving, John saw no point in expending energy to stop him.

"Are you alright?" John Brown sat down by the bed and asked Lucy Campbell.

Lucy Campbell was already awake when John Brown was fighting with that person. At this mont, her bright eyes looked at John, smiling, "If you had co a little later, there would probably have been a problem."

"Haha, then go back to sleep. I’m leaving."

"Give a kiss!" Lucy Campbell stretched her arms out from under the covers playfully, and seed not the least bit scared about the earlier intrusion.

John Brown bent down to gently kiss Lucy Campbell on the cheek. Lucy, satisfied, released him. His sneaking into her room made her feel quite excited, as if he was sneaking in for a midnight tryst.

Before leaving, John Brown rearranged so things in Lucy’s room — these were so alarm devices. Without them, he wouldn’t have known soone was breaking in. He had set them up after Lucy moved in but had never used them until now.

John Brown didn’t discuss the intrusion with Lucy, just bypassed it. But when he climbed back into his own room through the window, the bedside lamp suddenly turned on, and Gina Lopez awoke.

Gina hadn’t known when John Brown left, but now she found him missing when she returned from the bathroom, and noticed the window was open. The commotion at the window prompted her to quickly turn on the bedside lamp.

"Honey! What is this..." Gina Lopez was stunned to see John Brown jumping in through the window.

John closed the window and softly said, "Soone broke into Lucy’s place; I chased them off."

"Ah?" Gina was startled, the thought of an intruder in the house giving her a chill.

"It’s alright now, go back to sleep." John Brown gently patted Gina’s shoulder and lay back down.

Gina, however, was quite worried, saying, "Is this really okay? Lucy is sleeping alone in that room, what if sothing happens?"

"It shouldn’t happen again. Knowing I’m here protecting her, they failed once and won’t be back so soon. Besides, if soone does break in, I’ll know imdiately."

"Really... Who are these people?" Unlike Lucy, Gina hadn’t encountered such things often, so she was very anxious.

John Brown smiled and said, "With Lucy’s status, there are so people in the country eyeing her, and so foreign forces too. If they could kidnap her, they’d gain huge benefits."

"Then it’s too dangerous for her." Gina frowned tightly.

"Don’t worry. I have set up arrangents in her room, if anything happens, I’ll know."

"But that’s not okay either, your nerves will be tense and you won’t sleep well. And if you slip and sothing happens to Lucy, it would be terrible. It’s not acceptable, just not."

"Do you have a better idea?" John Brown asked with a smile.

"Well..." Gina, never having done protective work, was just anxious and didn’t have a good idea. She couldn’t answer John Brown’s question right away.

"Alright, go to sleep. You don’t need to worry about this. I’ll protect Lucy. Don’t forget what your husband does. Protecting people is my forte."

Gina said no more but couldn’t fall asleep, her mind racing for a solution. After more than half an hour, she suddenly nudged John Brown. Although asleep, John woke imdiately when nudged, asking, "What is it?"

"Honey, I thought of a solution."

"Oh? What solution?" John Brown asked, puzzled.

"Let Lucy live with us, then you can protect her," Gina said seriously.

John widened his eyes, "Have her live with us? There’s not much space here, where would she live? In our room?"

"Of course not, what are you talking about." Gina gave John a reproachful look, "Haven’t we felt cramped here for a while? Why not buy a bigger house, then let Lucy live with us. It would be safer."

John shook his head, "Those large houses like villas are actually less safe."

"Why?" Gina asked, confused.

"Simple, a villa just puts us behind a big door, giving experts more ways to get in. It’s actually harder to enter a high-rise like this."

"I see... then... then let’s buy a bigger apartnt, four bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. That way there are more rooms. Lucy can move in and our daughter Emily can have her own room. Even Emma and Charlotte can stay over with extra rooms."

John imdiately said, "That idea seems pretty good."

Gina was thrilled, saying, "Then let’s do it. Start house hunting tomorrow. You can take a break from work to handle this important matter first."

"Is that necessary?"

"Absolutely, nothing’s more important than Lucy’s safety. Your work at the company is for Lucy, isn’t it? This is far more critical. It’s settled; you’re on a deadline to find a place quickly, preferably fully furnished. If our money isn’t enough, I’ll borrow more from my parents."

John grinned, "Gina, don’t forget your husband isn’t exactly broke."

Gina smiled proudly, "Even better, choose the biggest, most furnished one - haha, we’ve been married so long, it’s ti for a new ho."

Seeing Gina so excited got John interested too. Buying a house as their ho seed quite nice.

Early the next morning, Gina announced the plan. Emily Lopez was very happy; she wanted her own room to avoid overhearing John and Gina being affectionate, which was a struggle.

Little Violet was also ecstatic; a big house ant more fun things for a child.

Lucy Campbell was surprised, hesitantly saying, "This doesn’t seem good. Staying next to you already bothers you. Moving in would be less convenient."

Gina imdiately said, "What’s inconvenient about it? More people ans more lively, and discussing things can be easier. Plus, you won’t always stay here, but when you do, I need John to ensure your safety. If sothing happened, I’d feel terrible. You’re like our benefactor, this is settled."

Lucy looked at Emily, who smiled wryly. If both lived here, sneaking intimacy with John would be harder. Yet Gina’s determination added to the previous night’s events, left no room for them to object, leaving them both sowhat frustrated.
