Today’s main highlight is the auction, and many people want to experience it. After all, such valuable items are rarely seen, and now there are so many gathered, with many wealthy individuals bidding here, thinking about it is quite thrilling.
However, so people are not interested in auctions at all, like Little Violet, a child who only likes the fun things on the ship. Coincidentally, Charlotte and Emma are not very interested either, so they took Little Violet out to play together.
Jas Brown led the others into the auction room, where he saw many influential figures. These were not only from YODC City but also included many wealthy individuals from afar. Jas Brown had seen only a few of them yesterday, but today, they all erged. People like them are not interested in playing on the cruise; their real interest lies in these treasures, so it is normal not to see them usually.
Additionally, Jas Brown saw so acquaintances, like Charles Goodman, Robert Johnson, and those few young n he had beaten up.
Except for Robert Johnson, who was relatively polite to Jas Brown, most others greeted Jas lightly before advancing with excuses to discuss business cooperation with Gina Lopez.
Charles Goodman walked over, stood beside Jas Brown, and said in a sinister tone, "Kid, just wait for to put a green hat on you."
Jas Brown squinted at this guy, too lazy to say a word to him.
Charles laughed again and said, "The won I want won’t escape. Don’t think just because we’re on this ship that I can’t do anything to you. Once we get off the ship, you’ll know the consequences." As he spoke, Charles winked at Jas Brown, feeling excited about soon dealing with him. Increasing the pressure on Jas Brown felt delightfully satisfying, believing that Jas Brown would be angry and unable to solve it.
"Get lost!" Jas suddenly shouted angrily, and with a lift of his leg, he kicked Charles Goodman in the stomach.
Charles hadn’t expected Jas Brown to dare to hit him here; he was completely unprepared, and the kick was quite heavy, sending him stumbling backward until he collided with two others and finally stopped.
Jas Brown’s roar was loud, and although the hall was noisy at the ti, many people still heard it. Two security guards quickly rushed over, standing between Jas Brown and Charles Goodman.
Charles jumped up, clutching his stomach, and cursed Jas Brown, "Jas Brown, damn your grandma, how dare you hit ? I’ll ruin you today."
The people around had no idea what was going on; they just saw Charles baring his fangs and claws at Jas Brown but was restrained by the security guards.
Jas, however, took a step back and said to the security guards, "Security, security, he’s hitting people. Why are your ship’s security so poor?"
Charles froze for a mont, pointing at Jas with anger, "Damn your grandma, it was you who kicked just now."
Jas imdiately put on an aggrieved expression and said, "I am a person of quality; how could I kick soone? Everyone is here; who saw kick him?"
Beside Jas were Emily Lopez and Lucy Campbell. These beautiful won were extrely displeased with Charles Goodman, so when Jas kicked him, they felt quite satisfied. Besides, even if Charles were justified, they would still stand by Jas. At this mont, they imdiately ca forward to testify.
Emily Lopez imdiately said, "We didn’t see it; we only saw this guy cursing and trying to hit people."
Lucy Campbell followed up, "Yes, we didn’t see it. Security, I want to complain about your cruise, having such uncivilized people here who can’t guarantee our personal safety."
Charles was usually arrogant and domineering in YODC City, notorious for beating and cursing anyone who offended him. He had sowhat restrained himself on this cruise, but today, being kicked by Jas Brown made him unable to hold back. The won beside Jas testified against him, while others didn’t support him, and when such beauties spoke, no one believed him, which infuriated him more.
A smart person would calm down at this point, but Charles was clearly not one. Instead of calming down, he wanted to grab sothing to hit Jas but couldn’t find anything. Seeing the security guard’s baton on his waist, he foolishly reached for it.
While grabbing, he cursed, "I’ll kill you today."
At this point, even if he was right, he lost all ground. The security guards didn’t care who Charles Goodman was; their responsibility was to protect the guests on the cruise. Moreover, the cruise owner’s background was not sothing a regular person could compare to, so they firmly held Charles down, not gently, making him feel almost broken.
"Ah! You bastards, let go of , let go of , or I’ll skin you alive," Charles was like a mad dog now, biting whoever touched him.
This put Charles in a disadvantageous position entirely, and two more security guards arrived to escort Mark Smith out. Charles was even more furious, cursing all the way. So who knew him wanted to diate, but seeing him like this, they backed off.
Two more security guards ca to apologize to Jas, resolving the matter.
Gina Lopez ca to Jas’s side, frowned, and said, "That guy is really annoying, are you okay?"
Jas squeezed Gina’s hand with a smile and said, "Those kinds of guys just need so discipline. Don’t worry, I won’t cause trouble for you."
"Even if there is trouble, we’re not afraid; just make sure you don’t suffer losses."
Gina Lopez had truly changed now. Previously, if Jas encountered any issue, she would bla him first. Now she sides with Jas entirely, prioritizing family before reason, demonstrating the deep bond between them.
John Brown felt quite pleased and chuckled, "It’s fine, just go ahead and take care of what you need to do."
Gina Lopez walked over to Lucy Campbell and whispered, "Lucy, keep an eye on him, this guy can really stir up trouble."
Lucy Campbell chuckled softly and replied, "Yeah, I know. Jas isn’t soone who acts without thinking."
After Gina Lopez left, Emily Lopez suddenly burst out laughing, "Brother-in-law, why did you just kick him once earlier, you should have kicked him a few more tis."
Emily Jenkins imdiately clenched her little fist and said, "Exactly, such people should be beaten up until they’re swollen like a pig."
Sunny Nguyen chuckled softly, "You two really aren’t afraid of causing a scene. That guy isn’t just anyone—if you beat him up in public, that would be a big problem. Now, giving him a little hidden jab is enough."
Sarah Utah, though she didn’t say anything, also felt that John Brown really should have beaten up Charles Goodman. How could such shaless people exist in this world? She had grown up without ever encountering soone like that.
Everyone found a place to sit because they weren’t there to participate in the auction, so they couldn’t sit at the front. They were just there to enjoy the spectacle.
The auction started quickly. The atmosphere wasn’t exactly enthusiastic. The real buyers only raised their paddles silently, while the auctioneer was the one getting excited, quoting prices and stirring the atmosphere.
Though the items being auctioned on stage were all priceless, everyone got to broaden their horizons. Each item sold for at least tens of millions, but after seeing a few, everyone beca sowhat desensitized.
"Gina, do you really like this vase?" Lucy Campbell asked Gina Lopez with a smile, her hand casually resting on John Brown’s thigh. Leaning over to talk to Gina Lopez was a bit tiring, and resting her hand on John Brown’s thigh felt very natural.
"I just feel this thing isn’t worth so much money. From a business value perspective, buying such items is too risky." Gina Lopez noticed but didn’t mind. She also felt it was more convenient to chat with Lucy Campbell like this, leaning closer to speak to one another, as it didn’t disturb others. One hand lay on John Brown’s thigh, but the other hand secretly reached behind to squeeze John Brown’s hand, preventing him from misbehaving.
John Brown just settled in when Emily Lopez leaned onto her sister’s shoulder, yawned, and said, "Boring, not fun. Sister, let’s go out and play."
Gina Lopez imdiately said, "With sothing so eye-opening, you still say it’s boring? Keep watching."
Emily Lopez pouted, "Brother-in-law, why don’t you co out and play with ?"
John Brown smiled, "Better not wander around."
"Brother-in-law, you won’t co with ." Emily Lopez pouted again, then secretly gave John Brown a wink.
John Brown understood that Emily Lopez wanted to slip away with him for a little while, but he didn’t dare agree now, feeling sothing was bound to happen today. He thought it better not to wander off, especially with Lucy Campbell; if soone recognized her, it would make her an easy target. So, apologetically, he said to Emily Lopez, "Sandra, let’s go together later."
Emily Lopez, upset, twisted John Brown’s arm slightly. It wasn’t as if she had to avoid others; it just showed that John Brown didn’t agree with her, throwing a little tantrum – just like a younger sister with her brother-in-law, which was normal. But John Brown knew there was a hint of grievance there.
Gina Lopez pushed Emily Lopez away, "Sit down properly."
Emily Lopez huffed but then giggled and leaned on Gina Lopez, her arm reaching behind Gina’s back, "Sister, let lean on you for a while then."
"You’re really troubleso, do as you like." Gina Lopez replied helplessly.
But this was just a pretense for Emily Lopez, who simply wanted to find an excuse to reach her hand from her sister’s back towards John Brown, her brother-in-law, who was sitting right next to Gina Lopez.
Just as John Brown settled in with Lucy Campbell, Emily Lopez reached over with her mischievous hands again. Although it wasn’t too malicious, brushing against John Brown’s arm could still be seen as a playful act.
Just as John Brown was about to push Emily Lopez’s hand away, the lights in the hall suddenly went out completely.
The lighting in the auction hall wasn’t very bright to begin with, mainly focused on the stage. But now, there was no light at all; the room plunged into total darkness, so dark you couldn’t see your own hand in front of you.
This sudden darkness didn’t imdiately cause chaos in the hall as everyone thought a more significant auction item was about to co. However, after a few monts, when the lights still hadn’t co back on and the auctioneer remained silent, the hall descended into a noisy chatter.
"Everyone, please calm down. There’s a small issue with the power; it will be fixed shortly," the auctioneer loudly announced. His microphone was still working, so it seed the problem was with the lighting equipnt.
At this mont, John Brown’s nerves were on high alert; it seed the thing he feared most was about to happen.
