291: Chapter 298: The Second Ti 291: Chapter 298: The Second Ti “Joanne, mom wants to ask if you went for the check-up?” Helen Wilson asked lovingly, holding her daughter’s hands.

Helen responded subconsciously, “Not yet.”

Her mom imdiately glared at her and said, “How could that be?

You must go for a check-up.”

“No need, no need!” Helen hurriedly exclaid.

She wasn’t actually pregnant; if she went for a check-up, her lie would be exposed.

“How could you not need it?

The early stage of pregnancy is very important, especially the first three months.

If not handled well, it’s easy to have a miscarriage.”

Helen felt miserable inside, initially only thought of deceiving her parents, forgetting about the lie she had spun.

Now wanting to continue the deception, she couldn’t think of a suitable reason at the mont, mainly because she had absolutely no experience in this regard.

Jas Brown ca out from the kitchen with a dish at this mont and said, “Look at you, I told you to clear things up with your uncle and aunt early on, but you insisted on not doing so, and now you have to lie to cover it up.”

Helen was startled and stared wide-eyed at Jas Brown, while her parents looked at him with confusion at this mont.

Jas Brown said with a smile, “Uncle, aunt, you haven’t eaten much all day, co over to eat.

I’ll have a couple of drinks with uncle and explain everything during the al.”

Helen quickly helped Jas with the dishes and while heading to the kitchen, she pinched Jas and whispered with a lowered voice, “What are you doing?”

“Just telling the truth, how could we keep hiding this from uncle and aunt?

I’ve told you before, you just didn’t believe it.”

Jas’s voice wasn’t subdued, and Helen’s parents, who were coming over, heard everything, making them even more confused and unsure of what this young couple was up to.

As Helen’s parents settled down, Jas Brown poured wine for Helen’s father and they both had a drink.

Then, Jas proceeded to say, “Uncle, aunt, let tell you the truth, Joanne is not pregnant.

However, we didn’t an to deceive you.

Before the last visit, her period was late and she also had a bad stomach, constantly feeling nauseous.

We thought she was pregnant, but a few days ago, her period ca, and we realized our mistake.”

Helen’s parents were stupefied, while Helen secretly breathed a sigh of relief inside, discreetly kicking Jas Brown; however, it was a kick of appreciation.

“Joanne has just beco a station chief, and she’s been very busy, so these past few days she forgot to tell you, uncle and aunt, I’m sorry to have raised your hopes in vain, it was our fault.

But rest assured, we will work hard and try to conceive as soon as possible.”

While Helen’s parents were initially upset to hear the pregnancy was false, Jas’s declaration diffused their discontent.

Helen’s mother glared at her daughter and said, “Look at you, such an adult, yet you can’t even figure out whether you are pregnant or not.”

Helen chuckled and said, “Mom, I’ve never been pregnant before, how would I know?

It felt similar to pregnancy, so I just told you.”

“Hmph, really haven’t grown up yet.

Alright, if you aren’t pregnant, you aren’t pregnant; sooner or later, you will still need to have children.”

Helen’s father shared another drink with Jas and said, “Actually, there’s no rush to have children so early.

You’re both still young, now is the ti to focus on your careers.

Having a child now would just be another distraction, and it wouldn’t be beneficial for your current developnt.”

Helen’s mother imdiately glared and retorted, “What nonsense are you talking about?

They don’t have to raise the child themselves; I will take care of it.

How would it affect them?

Besides, the earlier the child is raised, the better; waiting until older to have children and then raising them, you’d be in your fifties or sixties, how hard would that be?”

The family was heatedly discussing the issue of children, and in the end, under the absolute authority of Helen’s mother, Helen still promised to try for a child this year.

Only then did Helen’s mother give up.

Finally pacified the elder, it was getting late, everyone tidied up, ready to rest, Helen Wilson’s place did have two rooms, and Jas naturally ended up staying with Helen.

Once in the room, after closing the door, Jas felt sothing odd.

These situations had happened many tis with Gina Lopez, and he didn’t think much of it usually, but being with Helen, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander.

At this mont, Helen also felt sowhat uncomfortable, but still pretended to be calm and said, “Let’s hurry and sleep, we have to work tomorrow.”

Jas agreed and jumped onto the bed, while Helen turned off the light before climbing into bed herself.

The two lay apart, with so distance between them, neither spoke, but their breathing was clear and sowhat troubled.

“Helen…” Jas was about to say sothing, when suddenly Helen flipped over and pressed him down, startling Jas who quickly asked, “What are you doing?”

“Doing…

you!” Helen said two extrely bold words that made every man’s heart race.

Helen said nothing more and just snuggled into Jas’ arms, but just as Jas was about to fall asleep, Helen suddenly pushed him, forcing him to groggily open his eyes and ask, “What’s wrong now?”

“I need to tell you sothing.”

“Go ahead.”

“You mustn’t tell anyone about us, especially Sarah Utah.”

“Okay, I understand,” Jas quickly agreed.

“Also, from now on we’re still just friends, you can’t treat like your girlfriend.”

This suggestion indeed made Jas breathe a sigh of relief, he asked, “So does that an I should consider myself your boyfriend?”

“Keep dreaming, I’m not thinking of getting married so soon.

But as a woman, being alone is a bit lonely, so I’ve decided, I’ll just treat you as my ****.”

“****…” Jas was sowhat speechless, hearing this from Helen sohow made him uncomfortable.

“Don’t worry, I won’t be jealous of your other won, but you have to accompany once a week.”

“Do you think this arrangent isn’t so bad?”

“It’s tolerable, barely acceptable,” Helen said disdainfully, but it was clear she ant the opposite.

Jas pinched Helen’s cheek, finding her really quite adorable at the mont, and smiled, “No problem, as long as you want , I’ll co and spend ti with you.”

“That settles it, let’s sleep,” Helen said, and closed her eyes decisively, yet her body moved even closer to Jas’.

Jas gently stroked Helen’s back a few tis.

A question that had been troubling his mind seed to suddenly clear up; matters of the heart are best left to fate, why cling so stubbornly to them?
