290: Chapter 297 Father Lin and Mother Lin 290: Chapter 297 Father Lin and Mother Lin As they were finishing up their al, Jas Brown’s phone rang.
It was a call from Helen Wilson, and Jas answered it in front of Sarah Utah.
“Helen Wilson, I’m having dinner with Sarah Utah.
Want to join us?” Jas Brown imdiately ntioned he was with Sarah Utah, to prevent Helen Wilson from saying anything inappropriate.
“Oh, you two are together?
Then continue your al.
I just have sothing to discuss with you, but it can wait until you’ve finished eating.”
Jas agreed and hung up the phone, smiling at Sarah Utah, “Helen Wilson, your old classmate.”
Sarah Utah smiled sweetly and said, “It seems you two are also on good terms.
She got really worked up when she heard you were arrested today.
I even heard from the police that she attacked the officer who was questioning you.”
Jas Brown nodded, “Yeah, Helen Wilson really has a fiery temper.
She didn’t like how the police were handling things, so she just lashed out and knocked that guy out cold.”
Sarah Utah grinned, “I never imagined Helen Wilson could be so fierce.
She had quite a good temper back in school.
It’s hard for to picture her hitting soone.”
Jas Brown laughed, “It’s a pity you didn’t see it, but it’s not good for a woman to be so violent.”
Luckily, Helen Wilson didn’t hear Jas Brown’s words, or she would have bitten him for sure.
If it weren’t for his sake, Helen Wilson wouldn’t have been so enraged.
“After all, Helen Wilson was trying to help you out.
She’s seeking you out for sothing; you better go over there early.
Helen Wilson isn’t the type to easily ask for help.
If she’s contacting you, it must be for sothing important.”
Jas Brown also felt that Helen Wilson must have sothing urgent, and since Sarah Utah was being so considerate, he smoothly suggested, “Then let’s go.
I’ll drop you off first, then head over to her place.”
“No need, my place isn’t too far from here.
I can just take a cab ho alone.”
Jas Brown still didn’t feel quite assured but eventually let Sarah Utah go, dropping her at the entrance of her residential complex.
Only then did he drive to Helen Wilson’s place.
As soon as the door opened, Jas Brown saw Helen Wilson’s anxious face and asked in confusion, “What urgent matter has got you so worried?”
Helen Wilson pulled Jas Brown into the house and said urgently, “My parents are coming over tomorrow.
Isn’t this a big deal?”
“What?” Jas Brown’s eyes widened, then he grinned, “Seems like it indeed is a big deal.”
Helen Wilson paced around the living room, saying, “Yes, that’s why I called you over to discuss this.
They are coming here, and they’ll definitely want to see the house we bought.
But we don’t have a house to show them right now.”
Jas Brown sat down on the sofa, lighting up a cigarette.
Helen Wilson sat down next to him, urging, “How can you still be in the mood for smoking?
You’ve got to help figure out a solution.”
Jas Brown blew a ring of smoke, “This is easy.
We can just say we haven’t found the right house yet.”
“What about the money?
We’ve already spent our money.”
“Even the money is not a problem.
Isn’t it just one million dollars?
I’ll help you sort it out.”
“You can sort it out?
We’re talking about one million dollars here, not just 1400 dollars.”
“No problem, I dare not boast about more, but I can still co up with one million dollars.”
“You can co up with it…
I knew it, you’re going to borrow it from Gina Lopez, right?
For her, one million dollars shouldn’t be a big issue.
Hmm, she really is good to you, even willing to lend you one million dollars.”
Jas Brown chuckled, “Why do I sense a strong note of jealousy in your words?”
Helen Wilson pursed her lips, “Don’t flatter yourself.
Don’t think just because sothing happened between us that day, I’m now soone to you.
Let tell you, I am , and you are you.
I would never be envious of what you have.
Now just solve the one million dollar issue.”
Jas Brown was just testing Helen Wilson and felt much relieved knowing her thoughts.
He was concerned that their relationship might change because of this issue.
“Okay, I’ll make a call right now.” Saying that, Jas Brown took out his phone and dialed Gina Lopez.
Contacting Linda Campbell would have been easier, but Helen Wilson didn’t know Linda, and Jas Brown didn’t want just anyone to know about Linda’s identity, as it wouldn’t be a good thing for her.
Besides, casually taking money from Linda could make Helen Wilson suspect there was sothing between him and Linda, which would be another hassle.
“Gina, I need your help with sothing right now.”
Gina Lopez was at ho when Emily Lopez saw the incoming call from Jas Brown.
She hurriedly snatched it, tilting her chin up in a show of defiance towards Emily before answering.
Hearing what Jas Brown said, she responded in a very gentle tone, “Go ahead, why so formal with ?”
“Helen Wilson’s parents are coming, and the one million dollars we got from her parents, we’re using it now.
So, we don’t have any cash on hand.
Could you lend one million dollars to get us through their visit, and then I’ll pay you back right after?”
Gina Lopez imdiately agreed, “I may not be able to provide more, but I just happen to have one million dollars available.
I’ll transfer it to you right away.”
Before long, Jas Brown received a ssage notification: one million dollars was transferred into his bank account.
Helen Wilson finally breathed a sigh of relief; at least she could now give her parents a satisfactory explanation.
But imdiately added, “They’ll be arriving tomorrow morning, you have to go pick them up.
I have an important eting in the morning and can’t get out of it.”
Jas Brown nodded and said, “Absolutely no problem.”
“Oh, right, should we prepare anything at my place?
I don’t have any of your stuff here.”
Jas Brown couldn’t help but smile wryly as he said, “Leave that to .
I’ll move so of my clothes to your place first thing in the morning, and then move them back out after your parents leave.
I’m pretty good at handling this kind of thing.”
“Good at…” Helen Wilson looked at Jas Brown, puzzled.
Jas Brown simply explained the matter of pretending to be Gina Lopez’s boyfriend to her.
After listening, Helen Wilson scoffed, “Now it seems you’re actually getting quite into the act.”
“That’s not true at all, could we not bring that up?”
“Fine, we won’t talk about it, but what’s going on with you and Sarah Utah?
I saw everything today with my own eyes.
Don’t tell you have nothing to do with her.
Humph, having a date with her in the evening, don’t you have a girlfriend?
Aren’t you playing with Sarah’s feelings?” Helen Wilson grew angrier as she spoke, eventually glaring at Jas Brown.
Jas Brown sighed and said, “This whole situation caught off guard.
I didn’t expect Sarah to do that…” He then recounted everything that had happened today to Helen Wilson, concluding with, “Sarah publicly confessed her feelings to .
If I hadn’t responded at all, wouldn’t that have made her a laughingstock at the company?”
Helen Wilson frowned and said, “So what you did spared Sarah the ridicule, but what about the future?
How will you treat her?
Are you playing with two won at the sa ti?”
“Of course not.
I’ve always considered Sarah a good friend, like a sister, nothing more.
In ti, when people stop paying attention to this, we’ll gradually tone it down.
I’ll explain everything clearly to Sarah, and I think she will understand.”
“Humph, quite the Casanova, aren’t you?”
“It’s not my fault, okay?
I never pursued Sarah.
It seems like I have never really pursued anyone.”
“So you an to say, all those girls shalessly threw themselves at you, huh?”
“It does seem that way.”
Helen Wilson glared harshly at Jas Brown, feeling that he was far too full of himself.
But then she thought about her own situation; he had never actively pursued her, and she had sohow ended up getting close to him, even having gone so far as to be intimate with him.
“Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore.
If there’s nothing else, I should head back.”
“Sure, go ahead.
I’m counting on you for tomorrow.”
Jas Brown cheerfully agreed and left Helen Wilson’s ho.
By the ti he got back to his own place, it was already late.
He packed up so things to take to Helen Wilson’s house the next day and then washed up and went to bed.
The next day, Jas Brown was very busy.
He first took his belongings to Helen Wilson’s house and arranged everything in its place, then went to the company, borrowed a company car, and drove to the train station to wait for Helen Wilson’s parents.
Around ten o’clock, Jas Brown finally picked up Helen Wilson’s parents.
He thoroughly did what a son-in-law should do, driving them to Helen Wilson’s ho.
Helen Wilson’s parents were quite pleased with Jas Brown, especially in terms of respecting the elderly.
Jas Brown had clearly done well there.
Seeing how tidy Helen Wilson and Jas Brown’s living place was further reassured them.
They knew what kind of person Helen was; even if she wasn’t a slob, she couldn’t possibly keep the place so neat, which was obviously thanks to Jas Brown’s efforts.
“Little Lee, I talked to Little Rachel on the phone a few days ago, and she said you’ve almost finished looking for a house.
We’re here to help you think it through.”
Jas Brown imdiately replied, “The house we were looking at was indeed nice, but these past two days I found a new housing developnt that seems even better, so we haven’t settled on anything yet.
With you here today, we can go take a look and you can give your opinions.”
“Great!” The two elders couldn’t wait and were so impatient that they didn’t even stop for lunch, urging Jas Brown to take them to see the houses.
Jas Brown was prepared, taking the elders to two newly opened housing developnts.
Although it was his first visit, he was able to make it seem like he’d been house-hunting there nurous tis, impressing them with his responsiveness.
After a busy afternoon, Jas Brown finally brought the elders back ho.
They had seen houses, but which one to buy ultimately required a good discussion back at ho.
Just as they got back, Helen Wilson rushed ho.
As soon as she entered, she felt the harmonious atmosphere in the house, which greatly eased her mind.
Seeing Jas Brown gesture an ‘OK’ sign to her secretly, she felt even more confident.
The two elders were eager to pull out the brochures they had brought back and discuss them with Helen Wilson, and she pretended to consult with them.
“Joanne, go buy so beer.
I’d like to drink a couple with Uncle tonight,” Jas Brown called out as he was almost done preparing the al.
Joanne promptly stood up to agree, but her mother quickly grabbed her, saying anxiously, “You child, you’re pregnant now, how can you be rushing about like this?”
Joanne imdiately sat back down, inwardly groaning in distress.
She had completely forgotten about this pretend pregnancy, which was totally unprepared for; now, how would she deal with her parents?
