168: Chapter 168 Joint Efforts 168: Chapter 168 Joint Efforts After a full two-hour battle, it was only with the joint efforts of Jas Brown and Emma Campbell that Emily Jenkins’ kennel-like room was finally cleaned up.

As Jas looked at the pile of results before him, he could only feel the proverbial black lines shooting up his forehead.

The large supermarket bags packed four bags full of trash.

Besides that, there were six pairs of stockings, seven pieces of underwear, and five bras—all found under beds, in between sofa cushions, and the like.

Looking at these items and then at Emily Jenkins, Jas was speechless.

Right then, she was lounging in the chaise on the couch, cushioning her head on a pillow with her chubby little feet crossed, swinging them back and forth comfortably as she hugged a bag of crisps and watched TV with great contentnt.

“Emily Jenkins, you really think we’re your housekeepers?” Jas went over and slapped Emily’s thigh.

Imrsed in watching TV, Emily was startled by Jas’s sudden slap, letting out a scream and sitting up straight.

Seeing Jas’s stern face and the newly tidied room, she stuck out her tongue sheepishly and said, “You’re all done?”

“You’re really sothing else, we’re here working for you, and you’re acting like the boss.”

Emily shrank her neck guiltily, sticking out her cute little tongue, “Can’t I act like a boss?

At most, I could be a boss lady.”

Emma imdiately burst into laughter, and even Jas albeit trying to maintain a serious expression, couldn’t help but show a smile.

Annoyed, he said, “Keep kidding around with .

I’m telling you, if I ever see your room in such a ss again, I won’t let you co over for als anymore.”

“No, it won’t happen again,” Emily quickly assured him with a loud voice.

At this point, Emma chid in, “Sister Jenkins, do you still want these?” pointing at the underwear, stockings, and bras next to the trash bags.

“So many huh, I wondered why they seed to be decreasing,” Emily stuck out her tongue again, then sneakily glanced at Jas and said, “No need for them, they’re too dirty.”

Emma, seemingly feeling sorry for the waste, said, “You could still use them after a wash, most of these look almost new.”

Jas shook his head and responded, “Throw them away.

She won’t wash them herself, are you going to wash them for her?”

Emily quickly intervened, “Yes, yes, just throw them away, I can’t take them.

I’ve already bought new ones.” There was no way she would take those things back; she never had the habit of washing her clothes right after taking them off.

Knowing that Jas and Emma had found these unwashed items was embarrassing enough—she couldn’t let Emma wash them.

Then she got up and stuffed all the underwear into the trash bags.

After dumping the trash downstairs, Jas and Emma returned ho, and seeing Emma’s sweaty face, Jas said with so concern, “You’ve worked yourself too hard.”

With a sweet smile and squinted eyes, Emma said, “I’m not tired at all, and I’m happy.

This is the first ti I cleaned up the house with Big Brother Brown.”

Jas tore off a paper towel and gently wiped Emma’s sweat away, softly saying, “You silly girl, what’s there to be happy about doing chores together?”

Basking in Jas’s affection, Emma indulged, “I want to cherish many ‘first tis’ with Big Brother Brown, rember them for a lifeti.”

“Silly girl.” Jas’s heart surged, the paper towel slipping from his fingers as his hand softly stroked Emma’s delicate cheek.

A girl like Emma was too precious and worth cherishing, and he was increasingly feeling that spending a lifeti with her wouldn’t be so bad.

Emma, like a little kitten, rubbed her face against the palm of Jas’s hand, fully feeling the affection he had for her.

Happiness swirled in her heart, spreading warmth throughout her body, indescribably intoxicating.

“Alright, go take a shower, you must be exhausted,” Jas withdrew his hand and gently hugged Emma.

She nodded, smiling sweetly at Jas before darting into the bedroom, then taking so items with her into the bathroom.

Half an hour later, the bathroom door slid open, and Emma walked out, heading straight to where Jas was sitting in the living room.

Clasping her hands together and looking a bit nervous, she asked, “Big Brother Brown, do you think my new clothes look nice?”

His eyes brightened—Emma was dressed in a pure white dress, looking like a pristine angel.

He nodded repeatedly, “Very nice, very nice.”

Emma imdiately bead with joy, “I was afraid you wouldn’t like it.

I spent nearly seventy dollars on it.

I didn’t want to buy it, but Sister Jenkins insisted I do.”

His heart ached; the won he’d recently beco acquainted with, like Gina Lopez and Emily Jenkins, were well-off and would buy anything they fancied without batting an eyelid.

Seventy dollars for clothes would not even make them pause, but for Emma, a poor girl, it was a reluctant expense.

He pulled Emma to sit next to him, and she carefully straightened her dress, sitting up very straight.

Seeing Emma Campbell’s careful deanor, Jas Brown felt even more distressed and said, “Lemon, don’t be so hard on yourself.

Big Brother Brown isn’t short on money.

Whatever you want to buy, just buy it, and Big Brother Brown will get it for you.”

Emma Campbell revealed a sweet smile to Jas Brown and said, “Big Brother Brown, having a couple of outfits is plenty for .

Besides, buying so many clothes, I wouldn’t even have the ti to wear them all.”

“I really am wealthy.

If we get married in the future, I’ll buy you a house, buy you a car, whatever you want, I’ll buy it for you.”

Emma Campbell nodded repeatedly and said, “Alright, let’s work hard together.

Once I graduate and start making money, we can save for the down paynt and then slowly pay it off.

I think that with our efforts, it won’t take long to pay it all back.”

Jas Brown was montarily speechless.

When he said he had money, it was clear that Emma Campbell didn’t believe him.

However, this was understandable since the first ti she t him, he couldn’t even co up with Four Thousand Dollars, so naturally, talk of buying houses and cars could only be seen as a beautiful aspiration.

And the money that Jas Brown spoke of wasn’t in his hands at the mont.

It was impossible for him to take it out and prove it to Emma Campbell, so he could only laugh and say, “Alright then, we’ll work hard together in the future.

But we can’t skimp on ourselves now.

What girl doesn’t like to look pretty?

Besides, I like it when you dress up nicely.

That way, when I take you out, it’s a good look for both of us.”

Emma Campbell hesitated for a mont, then nodded and said, “Alright then.”

“Mhm, next week when you co, I’ll take you shopping for clothes.”

“Okay!” The reason Emma Campbell was excited wasn’t that Jas Brown was going to buy her a lot of clothes, or very expensive clothes, but because she could go to the mall with Jas Brown.

Just the thought made her exceedingly thrilled.

When Jas Brown finished his shower, Emma Campbell had already changed into her pajamas, the sa set she wore while cooking, a light pink silk nightgown that was very pretty.

Wearing it, Emma Campbell looked like an adorable doll.

The two lay in bed together without any excessive actions, which made Emma Campbell all the more smitten with Jas Brown.

A man who could hold back in bed either didn’t like you, or he was incredibly fond of you.

Otherwise, he definitely wouldn’t act like this, and Emma Campbell knew that Jas Brown’s behavior was a sure sign of his affection for her.

The next day, Jas Brown went straight to the job market.

He had put the things he needed in the car yesterday, so there was no need to return to the office.

The job market hadn’t fully opened yet, only those responsible for hiring like Jas Brown could enter.

Finding his booth, he had just finished setting up when a throng of people rushed in.

Jas Brown’s booth was in the most conspicuous place.

Since the company planned to make a big push, choosing the best booth made sense, even though it cost a bit more.

It also reflected the company’s strength.

Moreover, the recruitnt board in front of Jas Brown’s booth listed the largest number of job openings there, totaling up to three hundred people.

Before long, Jas Brown’s booth was surrounded by people.

He distributed forms one by one to those interested in applying to the company.

It was a wide net, and whether they would be useful to the company would require careful selection later on.

“I want to apply, too,” a girl with a pleasant voice said at Jas Brown’s booth.

Jas Brown looked up and saw Grace Lopez.

He was certain it was Grace Lopez by her smile, a playfulness that Gina Lopez simply didn’t possess.

“Sandra, what are you doing here?” Jas Brown asked with a smile.

“I’m here to apply,” Grace Lopez said, grinning.

“Apply for what?

Co in and help ; can’t you see I’m swamped?”

Grace Lopez imdiately crawled under the table to join Jas Brown behind the booth, pulling up a chair beside him.

“Brother-in-law, why did you co by yourself?” Grace Lopez sat very close to Jas Brown, her arm touching his.

Jas Brown shrugged his shoulders and said, “Your sister didn’t assign anyone to help , so I had to co alone.

Luckily you’re here to help .”

Grace Lopez smiled proudly and said, “See, now you know the benefits of having as a little sister-in-law, don’t you?”

“Yes, yes, Sandra is the best.

But let’s not chat now, everyone is waiting.

Let’s get to work.”

The “beauty effect” was no joke.

Seeing Grace Lopez sitting at the booth instantly drew the attention of many young n.

Initially, due to the crowd, they couldn’t get a detailed understanding of the recruitnt situation at Jas Brown’s booth.

Now, they were willing to wait their turn to possibly have the chance to work with a beautiful woman.

J Corporation offered decent salaries.

Though not excessively higher than average companies, they were marginally better, and even if it was just A Few Dollars more, for most it was a significant attraction.

So, in less than an hour, Jas Brown had already collected over a hundred job applications.
