"Perhaps you could take the hit without wetting your pants, but you can't take a joke, I guess," Aion said. "Well, don't take it too seriously now... my bad."

"This is the first thing you say to your father after over a year without seeing him…" Lexus said. "Well, let's put that aside for now. Continue your training until noon. Then we will talk."

Georges and Elio didn't feel like sparing since they didn't want to lose to Aion. They still needed to mature a bit to understand that sparing wasn't about winning. It was about learning. Still, they learned a bit by observing.

After that, Aion went to talk with his father in his office. It didn't feel like he wanted to scold him for his joke. Regardless, the atmosphere was serious, so Aion could tell the topic.

"First of all, Congratulations on the developnt of your territory. Having access to a dungeon helps, but we can see that you are doing a good job," Lexus said. "Still, I want to hear what happened in the night of the attack… You don't have to hide the fact that her own people invaded your mother's room."

"So, you knew that her people weren't exterminated completely," Aion said and then showed a pissed expression. "She ended up suffering a lot because people thought that she was the last one."

"The king never declared that she was the last of her people, only that she was the last of a direct bloodline," Lexus said. "They had ten thousand people in their territory, it is clear that so of them would escape. Does your mother know the reason for the attack?"

"No…" Aion said.

"She wasn't the first on the line of succession, so it wouldn't be surprising if she didn't know a lot about the secrets of her family," Lexus said. "Still, her father had many close friends in which he probably shared so secrets, and they are related to those who invaded your house. If only we got anything of their knowledge…"

"The winners of the war got nothing from it? Were they that wise?" Aion asked.

"Yes, they invaded your mother's room using a magic relic, right?" Lexus asked. "Not everyone can use them like that. Moreover, it requires so much mana that only the people of that kingdom could use them effectively. They also had done much research over the centuries regarding magic and magic relics, but they disposed of everything once they realized that they were going to lose the war. Now that almost their entire royal family is gone, the survivors will use their knowledge without restraint to get their revenge."

In Aion's opinion, the world deserved to suffer a bit since they tried to decimate an entire race of people, and that would never be justified. However, he didn't think that lunatics passing the judgnt was a good idea. Moreover, they tried to do sothing to his mother, and that was more than enough reason for him to kill them… Even if they ca from the sa place as his mother.

"I imagined that you were going to ask for a magic relic to help her, and while I can think of a few, there are magic relics and magic relics," Lexus said. "Moreover, the people of that kingdom know well how to use them, so they might find a weakness in those."

That was annoying, but it made sense… In the end, Aion decided to reset so classes and then use the materials, experience, and energy to make the Paladin class reach the requirents to be upgraded.

"I suppose that your mother might be targeted during the ceremony, I will tell the guards that I trust to stay with her all the ti," Lexus said.

"That won't be necessary. I have already done the necessary preparations for that," Aion said. "While they might not be useful, I would like to buy from you so magic items."

"Are you planning to study them? Suit yourself," Lexus said. "We have a few that we never use and probably never will. You can take them for free and share the results of your research."

That was a fair trade, but Lexus was putting too much faith in Aion's learning capabilities. He might learn how to fight fast, but studying wasn't his forte… still, it was sothing he had to do for the future of his mother.

Aion headed to the armory and then looked for the magic items. Things like the armor that could store two short swords couldn't even be considered magic items. Still, the ability to take them away with a single push of a button interested Aion. Was it a coincidence, or was that sothing that soone from Earth created?

Aside from that, Aion found a spear that could beco lighter when the strength of the grip increased, a sword that freezes things slowly upon touch, and a shield that beca sturdier and heavier when the user wished for it.

"I guess father and the other leaders of the family were too stubborn to buy those and use them properly," Aion thought. "They either didn't know how to use them well or thought that such things would hinder their progress."

Starting with those would be a good beginning, but Aion was thinking of buying more of them with more practical effects. While Lexus said that the research of his mother's people was lost, the magic items that they used should have been picked by soldiers once they were defeated. Aion thought that he wouldn't need them since he has those linked to the classes, but they might be useful to the process. Once he gets the materials, Aion will have a good lead.

When Aion did that to the shield, he got a peculiar result. The process took a while longer to finish, and aside from so iron ores… He got a single brownstone with random marks on it, and the system called it: earth rune.
