"How can such a woman stay in our laboratory? She’s too disgusting." Their voices beca louder and louder.
Anita, who was standing in the middle of the crowd, suddenly beca the target of everyone. She could refute what one person said, but when so many people around her who didn’t understand the situation started making comnts about her, Anita couldn’t accept it.
She thought that she was usually quite good to the people around her. She was happy to help any classmate who needed her help, but she didn’t expect everyone to hate her so much in private.
"Anita, you see? Everyone can tell. If you admit your mistake to now, I’ll reluctantly keep it a secret." Eric saw that Anita clearly didn’t look happy, so he leaned closer and whispered.
"Don’t talk nonsense. Do you know the situation? Do you know who Anita is? You just heard this man talking nonsense here." Jack couldn’t listen anymore and stood up.
"He’s Anita’s lackey, right? Does he think he’ll win her over by sucking up to her?"
"This person seems to be called Jack. I heard that he’s quite good at experints. Is there a need to suck up to Anita?"
Seeing that soone had spoken up, everyone turned their attention to Jack.
"Don’t you guys say that about Jack." Susan stood in the middle of the crowd and heard everyone criticize him. She stood up angrily.
"Susan, why are you here? Go back," Jack said quickly while listening to Susan.
"I don’t want to. How can they say that about you?"
"Go back. This has nothing to do with you," Jack said again, looking at Susan.
"Then you’re coming with ." Hearing Jack’s words, Susan glanced at Anita, who was standing beside, and then looked back at Jack.
"No, I can’t go. Go back. Anita can’t be here alone." Jack rejected Susan without hesitation.
"But... Jack, what can you do here? This man is Anita’s sister’s ex-boyfriend, right? You don’t know their relationship. What will you do here?" Susan said softly as she listened to Jack.
"Susan, what are you talking about? Anita is my lab partner. Whether this man is telling the truth or not, I can’t let her stay here alone."
"Anita, please let Jack co with . Today’s matter has nothing to do with him. He still has to be awarded an outstanding scholarship at the end of the year. His reputation can’t be damaged." Seeing that she couldn’t persuade Jack, Susan took two quick steps and stood beside Anita.
"His reputation can’t be damaged, but isn’t mine important as well?" Anita said softly as she listened to Susan.
"Anita, that’s not what I ant. Jack has nothing to do with you. Why should everyone point fingers at him here?"
"You’re right. I did implicate Jack." Anita listened to Susan and forced herself to look up at her before walking toward Jack. "Jack, thank you for what you’ve done today. This has nothing to do with you. You should go first. We’ll eat together another day."
"How can I leave you alone? Did Susan just tell you sothing?" Jack didn’t know what Susan had just told her, so he asked agitatedly.
"No, she didn’t say anything. Jack, go. The two of us are just lab partners. I don’t need you to stay here," Anita said coldly while looking at Jack after calming down.
"Partner. So in your eyes, we’re really just lab partners," Jack said softly.
"Jack, let’s go," Susan said while standing beside Jack again and pulling his arm gently.
"Go, I really don’t need you," Anita said again while looking up at Jack and Susan.
"Okay, I’ll go." With that, Jack pulled Susan out.
"Anita, why are you so ruthless? You chased away the only person who protected you." Seeing that Jack had finally left, Eric leaned forward and said to Anita.
"Eric, isn’t it good that he’s gone? Tell , what do you want? I know you’re not here today just to reconcile with ." Anita closed her eyes tiredly and cald down before looking at Eric.
"You’re asking what I want? Don’t you know that Miranda not only deleted the ssages on my phone, but she also gave you the copyright to the song and even kicked out of the house I live in? What do you think I can do?" Eric said fiercely as he listened to Anita.
