Chapter 765: Chapter 767 A Basin of Buns

Hua Yuan left the library contentedly, casting a glance at the sky as he stepped outside.

“Junior brother, your senior brother will pave a grand path to the heavens for you.”

The old man was Hua Yuan’s martial uncle and Elder Hua’s fellow disciple. In his youth, he was soone obsessed with Cultivation.

Later he was lured by Elder Hua with a pile of ancient books to watch over the library, most importantly, he was to guard the Imperial Military Academy.

And the old man’s strength, of course, goes without saying.

Such people, just as Nian Shutong had surmised, definitely weren’t limited to just one.

Ever since Admiral Yun He’s untily death, the position of Commander had remained vacant. Only the leaders of several major Legions had been jointly deciding on certain matters.

But such an arrangent obviously couldn’t last forever. The Royal Family had long been considering appointing a Commander, but the position was too significant to be filled by rely assigning soone.

Thus, the position of Commander was to be filled by recomndations from various factions, and the final Commander needed to receive the wholehearted support of all before successfully assuming the position.

Previously, Hua Yuan was one of the factions. He disagreed with choosing a Commander so quickly and had been dragging it out until now, Fu Yunhe’s ergence.

The mont he confird Fu Yunhe was indeed Yun He, he knew the path he had to take.

Commander.

This ti, he wanted to clear the path ahead for his junior brother, to ascend to that position as quickly as possible, and more importantly, to identify who had hard his junior brother from behind the scenes.

Nian Shutong didn’t know Hua Yuan’s thoughts, but she was aware that Hua Yuan had been Fu Yunhe’s senior brother, aning this person was soone Fu Yunhe trusted greatly.

However, Nian Shutong did not use this connection to interact with Hua Yuan – not because she distrusted Fu Yunhe, but because she trusted herself more.

Also because Fu Yunhe’s death in his previous life had been so ambiguous, who knew who was good and who was evil.

Nian Shutong, who had left the library, originally intended to find a spot or a table to copy so ancient books. However, there were quite a few people studying in the library, so she decided to return to the small courtyard arranged for her by the school.

Just as she arrived at the gate, the door to the neighboring courtyard was pushed open, and soone ca out.

“Hello, you must be new here?”

A woman with slightly dark skin but strikingly good-looking features and short hair erged with a buoyant spirit, holding a basin.

Nian Shutong didn’t turn her away but nodded and replied, “Yes, I’ve just moved in.”

“That’s right!”

The woman, holding the basin, walked up eagerly and lifted the white cloth covering it, revealing a small basin of plump white buns.

“Take these to eat. I noticed soone was planting things around, so I knew soone new had arrived. Our garden’s chives were ready, so I made so buns. We’ll be neighbors from now on, so don’t be shy.”

Nian Shutong hadn’t expected this, and she was sowhat at a loss. She had never experienced this kind of neighborly interaction.

“Go ahead, take it. Don’t be shy. My husband is a teacher at this school, in your Physical Education Departnt, teaching the senior class.”

The woman pulled Nian Shutong’s arm and forcefully placed the basin she was holding into Nian Shutong’s embrace.

“Eat them while they’re hot; they’re better that way.”

The hospitable woman left as soon as she had delivered the buns, closing her door and waving from her courtyard, “Hurry and eat, they’re delicious!”

Nian Shutong didn’t get a word in from beginning to end, only managing to call out a “Thank you!” to the woman in the courtyard.

The woman in the courtyard, with a hearty laugh, waved and went inside.

Holding the basin in her arms, Nian Shutong’s mood lightened compared to before as she returned to her own courtyard.

Back in her courtyard, Nian Shutong stared at the basin of buns for several minutes before finally picking one up and taking a bite.

The taste, of course, couldn’t compare to Master Fan.

But this kind of freshness was sothing Master Fan couldn’t offer.

“I’m really living the life now, I even have neighbors.”

Nian Shutong genuinely found it amusing because, in the Cultivation World, everyone’s residence spanned hundreds of miles and was never disturbed by outsiders, so having neighbors wasn’t really having neighbors at all.

On Blue Star, neighbors were even more unthinkable.

A bowl of stead buns had been polished off by Nian Shutong, who stared at the empty dish, feeling like she should reciprocate the gesture.

Looking at the sky, it had darkened a bit already; it felt like Fu Yunhe had just left, but in reality, only half a day had passed.

Nian Shutong chose not to cook herself but instead brought out a piece of at, a chicken leg, a bag of sunflower seeds, and a bag of peanuts from her own space, placing all of them in the bowl and walking next door.

The neighbors at this mont were also discussing their new neighbor.

The man of the house had returned ho and, looking at the big white stead buns, his appetite surged. After washing his hands, he grabbed one to eat.

“Eat slower, we’ve got plenty. I made extra today because we have soone new next door, so I sent so over.”

“Huh? Soone new next door? I didn’t hear about any teacher moving in to live on campus?”

The man choked a bit, and his wife handed him a cup of water. After drinking, he added, “But no matter who it is, it’s right to send sothing over. We’re neighbors after all, and both teachers at the sa school, we should do it.”

“Of course! I don’t need you to worry about these things.”

The woman handed him another big bun, cautioning, “Eat slowly.”

“Tasty.”

The two shared a smile, warmth flowing between them.

“Knock knock knock!”

The sound of knocking ca, and the woman wiped her hands on her apron before calling out,

“I’m coming!”

The woman walked to the door, her cheerful laughter ringing out.

“You’re too polite! Co in for a bit, co inside.”

“It’s fine, we’re going to be neighbors from now on. You can’t be so shy.”

Nian Shutong, being called shy, genuinely didn’t know what to say. The lady was just very warm-hearted neighbor, and it wasn’t that she didn’t want to talk, but considering she was younger and the lady was quite chatty, she temporarily found no opportunity to speak.

The man in the house wiped his hands and mouth, pushed open the door, and ca outside to see which teacher had moved into the school.

“Professor Nian!”

“et again, Teacher.”

Professor Nian looked at the man who erged, who was the sa teacher from the class she had attended for training that afternoon.

At that mont, the man was wondering what the connection was between his wife’s use of the word “shy” and the Professor Nian standing in front of him.

“Oh, you know each other! In such a big school, it’s really remarkable that you recognize each other.”

The woman pulled Nian Shutong toward the house.

“Co in quickly. How can you not co inside when you visit?”

The man watched his wife’s actions, and he really wanted to ask her: Honey, do you realize that you’re dragging an Artifact Refining Master who’s at least at the SS level?
