Chapter 37: Those Who Understand the Tis Are Outstanding

“Enemy attack!” Sariel covered her eyes, temporarily blinded by the intense light, and shouted loudly. She quickly raised a wind shield around her body and retreated toward the wall.

Who was the attacker? How did he know the family’s code signal! Where was Jack, who had been keeping watch?

“Buzz——!”

A piercing hum followed, and several ordinary people without magic instantly collapsed to the ground, beginning to convulse.

A sonic shock trap! Damn it, who could activate two magic arrays in such a short interval!

Sariel suppressed the ringing in her ears and the urge to vomit, imdiately crushing the recovery potion she carried with her.

Yet the scene before her made her heart sink.

Fog had risen.

At so point, the entire restaurant had been engulfed in dense mist.

Damn, her hearing had been disrupted… she couldn’t precisely control her magic. Using magic rashly to disperse the fog might even injure her own people…

Suddenly, a shadow flashed through the mist!

“Bang!” “Ah—!”

A scream cut off abruptly. The voice belonged to Nick, a wizard—he seed to have been struck by so kind of blunt weapon!

“Bang!” “Bang!”

Two more muffled sounds followed. This ti Sariel didn’t know who had been attacked, but she had already locked onto the attacker’s position!

“Whoosh!”

A sharp wind blade split through the mist and shot toward the attacker!

However, as if the attacker had predicted her move, she slightly tilted her body and effortlessly avoided the wind blade capable of slicing steel, then turned and fired a fireball back at her!

When had she gathered that magic?!

Sariel had no ti to be shocked before the fireball slamd into her wind shield. The powerful impact forced her to stagger back several steps, though it caused no actual damage.

Yet the attacker’s target didn’t seem to be her. By the ti she reacted again, the opponent had already disappeared into the dense fog.

---

“Bang!”

With a swift strike… the staff fell. Lina knocked out another witch who was clutching her eyes and wailing in the mist.

This military staff was indeed much more useful than a breadstick…

Just as Mira had said, that C-rank witch wasn’t easy to deal with. She even carried an expensive rapid recovery potion.

She was a wind-elent witch. Although her hearing had been disrupted, preventing precise control of her magic, the strength of her spells was still not low.

A C-rank witch—at least level 30 to 40… In a head-on fight, Lina might not necessarily be her opponent.

But Lina had never planned to confront her head-on.

Crimson threads wrapped around her forearms. Lina raised her hand, forming the posture of drawing a bow, and blood swirled before her, condensing into a bowstring and arrows.

“Whoosh whoosh whoosh!”

Lina shot three arrows in succession toward Sariel’s direction, then quickly rolled to cancel the recovery of her movent, followed by launching two fireballs!

Sariel had just steadied herself from the aftermath of the fireball explosion when the blood arrows and two more fireballs arrived one after another!

She raised her shield again, her mind in chaos.

There were at least three people on the other side. Two of them were fire-elent mages, and the other’s attribute was unknown!

According to the intelligence they had obtained earlier, the other side should have only had one helper—a little blue-haired girl… wait… the girl who had delivered the fruit earlier! She had covered her hair color with a headscarf!

But since these three had been hiding in the fog the whole ti… it ant they were wary of facing her head-on!

She turned slightly and saw the open window of the private room.

“Blessing of Wind!”

Carried by the wind field, Sariel shot toward the open window like an arrow released from a bow!

Suddenly, three figures appeared in front of her to the side!

As expected—they didn’t want her to leave!

Sariel gathered her magic again and slashed another wind blade toward them!

Lina dismissed her clones. With the aid of divination, she perford a sliding dodge, easily avoiding the incoming wind blade. Blood threads condensed simultaneously on both arms, forming a pair of crimson twin swords in her hands.

“Heh heh, trying to run?” Lina leapt forward, raising both swords high above her head, and brought them down toward Sariel in a jumping slash: “Lightning Whirlwind Cleave!”

Sariel clearly had no idea what Lina was talking about. She took a step back, gathering magic into her right arm!

“Spirit of Wind, grant your blessing!”

“Bang!”

The wind-enhanced uppercut collided fiercely with Lina’s twin swords. The shockwave instantly overturned all the tables and chairs in the private room and blew away part of the dense fog. Sariel also finally saw Lina’s face.

She saw those pair of vertical pupils that had turned blood-red.

A vampire! This little girl was actually a vampire!

Lina was blasted backward, but her movents did not stop.

The crimson twin swords dissolved into specks of light, and a fireball condensed in front of her!

“Boom!”

Caught completely off guard, Sariel was blown away. Under the protection of the wind field, she still managed to avoid most of the damage.

However, during the fight just now she had been constantly adjusting her direction, and now she had already reached the edge of the window!

Supporting herself with one hand, she suddenly rolled backward and, with the aid of the wind field, leapt out of the window!

She made it!

Yet at the very mont she leapt out, she noticed that Lina did not pursue again, but instead stood there, revealing a teasing smile at her.

What was going on?

Just as Sariel fell into the small stream beside the inn, two voices sounded from the bank!

“O Holy Spirit of Water, heed my wish!”

Sariel felt the water around her suddenly “co alive.” It clung to her like parasites and dragged her deeper down!

“Ice Crystal Art!”

“Shua!”

Almost in an instant, the entire stream froze into a mirror, beneath which remained a face still frozen in shock.

“Mission accomplished~”

Lina jumped down, stepped on the solid ice, nodded in satisfaction, and high-fived Amy and Annie by the stream.

“I didn’t expect this thod would actually work…” Amy exclaid in disbelief. “So magic can be used like this…”

“Of course, Lina is amazing!” Annie said proudly, hands on her hips.

“Uh, let’s not chat just yet… Annie, can you partially undo the freezing? This one’s about to suffocate—I still have questions for her.” Lina walked to the edge of the stream and looked at Sariel beneath the ice. “Just expose her head. In this state, she can’t use magic.”

Annie nodded and lightly flicked her finger. The ice around Sariel’s head quickly lted.

And then… she started blowing bubbles…

Lina hurriedly cleared the water around Sariel’s head. Fortunately, a witch’s body was different from that of ordinary people—choking on water wouldn’t cause serious problems, though the hostility in her gaze toward Lina deepened.

To be honest, Lina also felt she had gone a bit too far. During the fight just now, the other party clearly hadn’t used her full strength—at the very least, she hadn’t shown any intent to kill…

But what Lina had just done really did look like she had been trying to finish her off.

“Cough cough, hello,” Lina awkwardly cleared her throat. “What should I call you?”

Sariel rely stared at her coldly, saying nothing.

Though there was a scar on the face of this witch who had retired from the Holy War Army, it could not conceal her valiant and handso bearing. She made one involuntarily think of those upright and unyielding female knights from classical literature.

“Those who understand the tis are outstanding, big sister,” Lina crouched down and tapped the ice beside her. “As long as you cooperate with us…”

“Lina looks kind of like a villain right now…” Annie whispered softly from the side. Mira tugged at her clothes: “Shh, she’s interrogating a prisoner… although I also think it feels a bit strange…”

At this mont, Lina only hated that her hearing was too good. The key point was she couldn’t even refute the two girls’ muttering, so she could only keep a straight face and continue looking down at Sariel from above.

Sariel also noticed the commotion on the other side at this mont. When she saw Mira, her pupils suddenly shrank:

“You traitor!” she shouted angrily. “When has the family ever treated you poorly? And yet you dare—”

“I only take orders from the young lady,” Mira stepped forward and interrupted her without hesitation. “The young lady instructed to assist Lina. As for you… do you even know that Lina is the young lady’s close friend?!”

Whoa, “close friend” is a bit too much, sister!

Lina sucked in a breath. This girl was clearly fired up and still going on.

“The young lady rejected that Tal again and again, yet he still shalessly stayed in the household. When he harassed the young lady, where were all of you?!”

“The young lady was just… just bewitched by this Lina…” Sariel’s rebuttal wasn’t loud, as if she herself didn’t quite believe it. “The master must have his reasons for doing this…”

“Who are you calling bewitched?” A cold and imposing voice ca from not far away. Lina turned to look, only to see the Sibyl young lady walking toward them step by step, her voice as icy as frost:

“Have you made enough trouble, Sariel?”
