Chapter 17: Dreams

After returning to the guest room and organizing the information gathered during the day at the desk, Lina impatiently rushed into the bathroom.

Although Lina had repeatedly tried to decline, Sibyl still instructed the inn to arrange the highest-grade guest room for her.

Not only did this place have a comfortable soft bed and bright lighting, it also had a hot water supply!

In this life, Lina had not enjoyed a single hot bath yet!

The water supply at Tal Inn was drawn directly from the small stream beneath the inn. It was said to use Solennam’s latest magitech water pump technology, which was much more convenient than traditional waterwheels.

After washing up and drying herself off, Lina threw herself onto the soft bed in a flying pounce, then quickly wrapped herself into a caterpillar shape with the big quilt.

“Damn it! What were those expressions all about!”

Lina poked her little head out from the blanket, puffing her cheeks in anger.

What had the Slacker Witch ever done to you! Was it really that funny!

Alright, it really was a little funny...

These young people didn’t understand the beauty of the slacker life. After they had struggled and scraped around in society’s muddy mire for a few years, they would understand!

But no matter what, at least she finally didn’t have to sleep on the streets or in a stable anymore.

Although Sibyl said Lina could stay at this inn all the ti, Lina still politely declined her kindness and paid the room fee.

Even between friends, Lina did not want to owe the other party too many favors. After all, no matter how you put it, she was an adult who had lived for two lifetis.

More importantly, now that she had obtained the identity of a witch, Lina already had enough capital to support herself.

Ah, right, she had to see what was in the association’s complintary gift pack!

Of course, Lina had not forgotten the “promotion gift pack” stored inside the storage ring.

She kicked off the blanket, jumped off the bed, activated the silver ring, and dumped out all the items stored inside in one go.

A set of witch uniform, a silver D-rank witch badge, a magic enhancent ring, a short wand, two blank spellbooks, and three magic item discount vouchers.

These three vouchers could only be used at association-certified magic item shops. Their validity period was three years, and they could unconditionally deduct twenty percent off the price of any item or material.

Simply put, they were three no-threshold twenty percent discount coupons.

Lina ca before the full-length mirror beside the wardrobe and began changing into the uniform from the gift pack.

The upper garnt was a pure white shirt, with dark blue gradient bands spliced into the collar and cuffs. At the collar was a narrow tie in the sa color sche, embroidered with fine silver pinstripes. She straightened the tie and fastened the topmost button.

This uniform clearly used so kind of special fabric. The mont she put it on, it fit Lina’s figure perfectly.

A wide shoulder cape was linked across the chest with an exquisite button. The low-cut shirt revealed her fair collarbones just right, while the waist-cinching design displayed the perfect curves of her chest and abdon to the fullest.

The outer garnt was a long cape-style coat, its main body made of dark blue, nearly black heavy fabric, with two neat rows of golden buttons arranged down the center.

The robe sleeves were wide, with a light blue lining, and the edges were embroidered with intricate silver astrolabe patterns. A fine chain hung at the waist, with a small golden six-pointed star pendant attached to it.

On the lower half was a pleated skirt in dark blue and black, the hem adorned with the sa silver-thread patterns, paired with a narrow belt that held the waist tight and flat. The hem of the white shirt was neatly tucked into the skirt, giving the lines a clean, sharp look.

She put on black semi-sheer silk stockings, stepped into black short boots lined with cashre, and turned around once before the mirror.

Mm! Not bad, not bad!

Lina turned around and picked up the silver witch badge, pinning it to her chest.

At the top of the pure silver badge was a large “D”, beneath it was a neat relief of evening primroses, and in the background was the six-pointed star engraving that symbolized the association.

Lina forcibly suppressed the urge to sell the badge. With this badge, she could save herself a lot of trouble when acting as a witch.

After putting on the magic enhancent ring and picking up the short wand, Lina once again called up her status panel:

Title: 【Slacker Witch】

Good grief! Her combat power had more than doubled! But could this title please be changed!

Excellent standard witch set... it was a little higher than her current level.

In this world, all weapons and equipnt were divided into six grades: Common, Excellent, Fine, Epic, Legendary, and Divine Artifact.

The recomnded level for Excellent-quality equipnt was level 20 (most D-rank witches had magic levels between 20 and 30). Because her level was insufficient, Lina could not activate all of its abilities.

But Lina was confident she could reach level 20 within a month.

Mm... she still had to get another witch hat. If she rembered correctly, the hat was the most expensive part of the set.

No wonder they had given her three discount vouchers. This Witch Association was way too black-hearted!

After viciously roasting the association a few tis in her heart, Lina put away the other extra items and ca to the table, spreading out that special qualification certificate.

Fantasia... what exactly was she thinking?

In Lina’s mind, the image of that petite girl surfaced, the one who looked half-asleep every single day.

Even among the Ten Great Witches, Fantasia was the one Lina found the hardest to figure out.

Ever since Lina had t her, the only ti she had left The Astrania Grand Library was when they went together to subjugate the final boss. Normally, she basically only stayed within the Radiant Courtyard on the library’s top floor.

The attribute her magic was attuned to was “fate”, or rather, “causality”.

She rarely ntioned her own past, and even in the original ga, her text introduction had only been a scant few lines.

“A witch who existed at the end of ti, weaving the already closed loop of causality, yet still unwilling to give up searching for the branching paths of fate.”

Since she had already discovered , why didn’t she co find directly?

Lina sat cross-legged on the bed, unable to make sense of it no matter how much she thought.

It seed that the current Ten Great Witches also had no intention of troubling her. Otherwise, that heavenly thunder would not have struck only Norsen.

Sigh, thinking this much was useless anyway. A slacker witch like her still was not worth making those S-rank witches stir up such a big commotion.

She might as well treat it as compensation for killing her in her previous life...

But... why was it that she could not feel even a trace of hatred toward these people who had “killed her once”?

The day’s exhaustion swept over her like a tide, and Lina felt her eyelids growing heavier and heavier...

Was I... really killed by them?

That final thread of thought dissolved into nothingness amid the sound of steady breathing, and Lina sank firmly into slumber...

……

“Star, what are you spacing out for, nya?”

The urging voice of a young girl pulled Lavinia’s thoughts back to reality.

What had she just been thinking about again...

Oh right, she was going to find the Witch of Fate and have her reveal a new prophecy.

Sunlight passed through the outer wall of the cathedral hall, filtering through the carved window lattice and casting patches of colored light onto the marble floor.

Lavinia turned her head and said to the cat-eared girl with short brown hair behind her, “Wind, you’re not coming with ?”

“I’m going to the temple, nya. Those things suppressed by the divine statue are acting up again, nya.” The cat-eared girl shook her head helplessly. Then she suddenly leaned in close and began sniffing Lavinia all over.

“Eh? W-what are you doing!” Lavinia was startled by her actions and instinctively tried to avoid her, only for the latter to grab her arm.

“Mm... I suddenly feel like there’s a strange sll on you, nya?” The cat-eared girl tilted her head and looked Lavinia over carefully, then shook her head again. “I probably saw it wrong, but that tired sll isn’t fake. Star, you need to get so proper rest.”

Lavinia lightly snapped her fingers, and a water mirror appeared before her.

Her pupils instantly shrank.

The girl in the mirror had long black hair, a pair of gleaming golden eyes, and a brand-new Fine Association Witch Uniform.

“Lavinia” rembered everything, rembered everything of herself as “Lina”.
