Chu Ci was still in the ward, intending to have a natural birth, but her pelvis wasn’t fully dilated yet. The doctor said they had to wait a while longer.

When Han Xi pushed the door open and entered, Manman and Qin Mi were already in the ward. The n were all waiting outside in the corridor.

Chu Ci was in so much pain that sweat covered her forehead. It felt like all her ribs were being broken, so painful that she wanted to scream and cry.

Maybe it was because she was also pregnant, but seeing Chu Ci in such pain made Han Xi nervous, even scared.

Fu Bin held Chu Ci’s hand lovingly, wishing he could bear the pain for her: "Hang in there a bit longer, Mom’s gone to get the doctor."

Manman couldn’t sit still any longer, pacing back and forth in the room anxiously: "This doesn’t look like giving birth; it’s sheer torture. How could it hurt this much?"

Manman spoke to herself, her expression particularly heavy. She had heard childbirth was painful but hadn’t imagined it would be to this extent.

Han Xi grabbed a towel from the bathroom in the ward and helped Chu Ci wipe the sweat off her forehead: "Hang in there, you’ll soon et this little one."

In such pain, Chu Ci didn’t want to say a word, tears streaming down her face. She bit her lip until it bled and held Fu Bin’s hand so tightly that her fingertips turned white.

anwhile, Zhang Yawen brought the doctor in, and after a check-up, the doctor said she could be moved to the delivery room. Fu Bin carefully lifted Chu Ci into a wheelchair and wheeled her straight in.

Manman sat on the corridor bench, looking despondently at Feng Yi: "Let’s not have kids in the future, alright? It’s too painful, I’m afraid I won’t make it."

Manman was undoubtedly terrified.

Feng Yi helplessly pinched the bridge of his nose: "If you don’t want to, we won’t. Whatever you say."

At the end of the corridor, Lu Jinghan stubbed out his cigarette and walked over to Han Xi, interlocking his fingers with her slightly cool ones: "Scared?"

"Just now, Chu Ci... it really hurt."

Han Xi leaned her head on Lu Jinghan’s shoulder, instinctively placing a hand on her round belly.

"Don’t be afraid. I’ll be right there with you when the ti cos."

Lu Jinghan had gone to smoke by the window in the corridor, worried and reluctant for her to endure the pain after seeing what Chu Ci went through. He thought of how the girl would face the sa in a few months.

Fu Bin stood by the door of the operating room. He could clearly hear Chu Ci’s cries, feeling unspeakably distressed.

Zhang Yawen and Fu Bin’s father paced worriedly in the corridor—nearly an hour had passed, and she hadn’t co out yet. They couldn’t help but be concerned.

When the baby’s cries erged from the delivery room, Fu Bin’s heart, stuck in his throat, finally relaxed.

Han Xi and Manman happily stood up from the bench; the baby was finally born.

A nurse ca out of the delivery room, holding the swaddled baby: "Congratulations, it’s a girl, eight pounds."

Zhang Yawen took the baby with a beaming smile, her heart lting as she looked at the little face: "Grandma’s big granddaughter, such a good girl."

Fu Bin was in no mood to look at the baby, only worried about Chu Ci inside: "Nurse, how is my wife? When can she co out?"

"You’ll have to wait a little longer for her; we need to do so post-operative cleaning. But don’t worry, she’s fine."
