Chapter 402: The Calm After The Storm
After an unimaginable amount of ti…
The void split open, revealing a single figure who had stepped through, limping slightly.
Their cloak was shredded, one arm hanging limp. Blood trailed down their fingers. Clearly, they had been in a battle just recently.
And of course, that figure was none other than Neraxis.
He took a few steps forward, arriving in front of his house where he had lived most of his lifetis.
But as he reached out to open the door, he felt a slight tremor in his hand, which soon resulted in sothing a bit more.
A single crimson eye appeared on his palm, causing imnse pain to shoot throughout his body.
Despite the pain, Neraxis simply stared at the eye, and in the next mont, stabbed it onto the door handle.
The eye exploded, and what remained was a faint trace of mana that escaped his body, heading up into the air and eventually fading.
He had tortured Lagus for a very long ti, replaying the sa situation in many different universes.
It had gotten to the point where Neraxis would create a specific universe just for Lagus to experience even greater suffering.
They had fought a few tis, and because of their latest fight, Neraxis suffered serious injuries.
Those very sa injuries resulted in him bleeding mana. He was sure he could die of old age now, as ridiculous as that sounded.
After all… I’m still a vampire. It shouldn’t work, but it clearly is.
He had gotten weaker, that much was certain. But at least he didn’t need to worry about Lagus anymore. He was long gone, this ti for real.
After all, in their final battle, Lagus sacrificed his soul to inflict such a grave injury onto Neraxis.
“Hmm… I guess that’s what I get for playing with my food,” Neraxis remarked with a chuckle and entered his house.
He navigated through the familiar hallway, arriving in the kitchen.
As expected, it was dusty and abandoned.
Evangeline used to take care of it, but it seems like his actions were finally sprouting the consequences he had dreaded to see.
Still, he opened the fridge and took out a moldy pie. Using what was left of his Ti powers, he restored the pie to its peak form, and then ate his fill.
Truly, he didn’t rember the last ti he had eaten. He didn’t even know how long had passed in this world.
I wonder if the others are still alive…? Neraxis thought, his lips slightly trembling.
Why didn’t I just kill Lagus and co back? Why did I go through all of that… just to end up in the sa position as Lagus.
He was powerless, in a way.
At most, he could deal with soone at the Origin rank, but even then, that would likely use up all of his power.
After that, he would beco soone who could no longer wield mana—an unawakened individual.
But worst of it all was the fact that he couldn’t even rember Evangeline’s face… he didn’t even rember his sister’s na.
Neraxis stabbed the spoon through the table by accident.
He paused, his brows furrowed, as he picked up the table and tossed it straight through the wall, causing the wall and half of the house to collapse onto him.
But he wasn’t done, as he proceeded to destroy everything in sight. And less than a minute later, there was a huge crater instead of his ho.
Alas, he didn’t care anymore, so with the usage of his Ti powers, he restored everything back to normal and decided to take a walk.
The streets were empty, and more importantly, Dreamspire had vanished, not leaving behind even a trace.
It was almost like he was back to the ti in his previous alternate universe, but from the faint energies he felt, he knew that wasn’t the case.
There were several S ranks around, and even a few stronger individuals.
And all of that was within the city he was currently in.
Truthfully, he didn’t have the will to look further in fear of finding corpses of his loved ones.
Therefore, he strolled through the empty streets, reminiscing about the ti he had wasted.
It was fun at first, but shortly after, it beca dull.
Yet he held onto that dullness, killing Lagus over and over again, ruining his family and more.
But only after a few million years had his conscience been hit, making him change his strategies.
He let Lagus grow stronger. So strong that he was even able to contend with the gods that Neraxis had created.
Only after killing all the gods was Lagus prepared to fight Neraxis, but not once did he win.
It really was fun…
A single tear stread down his cheek as he arrived in front of a particular location—the cetery.
He had watched his sister be buried here. He mourned her, and yet as he looked around, he realized nearly all of the tombstones were abandoned.
Neraxis felt a slight pang in his chest as he went around, using his Ti powers to restore the cetery.
He thought of doing the sa for the other ceteries. However, as he took one step forward, he suddenly tumbled, falling straight into a dug-out grave.
It seed like he had dug it subconsciously, but for so reason, it seed extrely comfortable.
So as he felt the last of his strength zap away, he curled up into a ball and tried to fall asleep.
But before he could, a loud chi rang out in his ears, causing his eyes to shoot open in alertness.
“…”
It seed like even the system wanted to have a laugh at him. Yet as he tried to open his status screen to check his stats out, he wasn’t able to.
But as he thought that was the end of it, a few pop-ups fell that made his brows furrow.
