Vacuse went to his room after he finished giving orders. He wanted to wash the blood and dirt off him. On his way over, mbers of the Dragon Guards who were still whole accompanied him, as well as those from the New Dawn.

Vacuse didn’t really mind or tell them anything. He let them do what they wanted. It seed they were all seeing him in a different light now.

"What a shitty night," Vacuse muttered as he washed himself in the large tub in his room. The water was prepared to a warm temperature by the servants.

He sat up in the already muddy water, then got out to move to another tub, this one clean and ready to complete his washing.

He soaked his head in water and rubbed his face before he sighed. "Ti to do so thinking. There are a lot of people involved in tonight’s execution. First is the Vassals faction, and apparently they brought the intruders with them, but then betrayed the Vassals by trying to kill all Vorrakyn.

"Then, there’s soone out there who wants the Vorrakyn dead. I an, everyone wants us dead, but soone actually acted on it." Vacuse frowned. Things weren’t making as much sense as he would have hoped.

"Let’s draw it back. The Vassals wanted to kill and Drenvar and install Fenris Vorrakyn. But are the Vassals actually working for Fenris, or did they just set him up as the figurehead to use?

"But the intruders that the Vassals employed betrayed them by killing Fenris, and then tried to kill the Vorrakyn and Vassals as well. That ans the real masterminds are the intruders. They just used the Vassals to gain leverage into the Dragon Castle.

"But who infiltrated all the Dragon Guards, the normal guards, the New Dawn, and a lot that I don’t even know for now? This is not as simple as it seems," Vacuse muttered to himself.

The water in the pool was cooling quickly. "And they tried to kill Duke Frexon, which removed him from the list. Killing the Duke would have ant war between us."

Vacuse frowned. He felt as if he was missing a lot of things.

"What about the orcs? Where did they fit in all of this? In my past life, I know they were attacked and used for putting pressure on us. It seems as if a new player that wasn’t present last life is playing now.

"Or do people just get more aggressive with bounding a Dragon?

"Is that why they wanted to kidnap ? And then kill later?" Different thoughts ran through Vacuse. "But at least I managed to keep things under control. I also took out Captain Yemi and Shadowwind. No matter what, they would feel the sting."

The one person that was instruntal in Vacuse’s plan was Kagerou. That was why Vacuse appointed him as his ssenger in public and let the news spread.

Because he needed Kagerou to carry his ssage where he couldn’t reach himself.

The blood fog was an artifact of the family. It was sothing used in war during the peak warring ti of the Vorrakyn family. Now, it’s sothing used for ceremonial and history lessons.

Vacuse got it from Kagerou through Zorathian.

Vacuse’s face twisted as he rembered the commander. He felt an ache in his heart. "My investnt, wasted just like that. The eye of the Blood Dragon would have been better given to Harkon then. Fuck it all. I won’t let wasting my resources slide just like that."

Then he sighed. "I need to find a useful tool like Zorathian again. But I doubt I’ll find it. The one thing we have to deal with now is the aftermath of this shit.

"After I eat."

He nodded his head firmly and got out of the tub. He dressed himself in clothing that was more in line with the present situation.

He wore black trousers and a shirt.

The door opened, and Harkon followed the servant bringing the food. "My Lord, the Dragon Lord summons you."

"Is that so?" Vacuse asked as he reached for the at on the plate. "I wonder what he might need for. We don’t want to keep him waiting though, so I’ll only eat a small portion of the food."

Vacuse lied.

He ate all the food, and he took all the ti he needed to finish it. Then he yawned. "Harkon, sleep usually follows this type of food, but not today. We shall not keep the Dragon Lord waiting anymore!"

Vacuse stood up and then strode out of the room.

"My Lord, the Dragon Lord has sent more people over for extra protection. They shall be protecting you for now, together with the New Dawn."

They were mbers of the Dragon Guards, but they were the sa age or closer to Drenvar’s age. The aura that clung to them was one of strong danger.

They didn’t join the New Dawn as they walked towards Drenvar’s wing of the palace. They ford around the New Dawn like an extra layer of protection, like a shell over a shell.

"Have you found Lyra?" Vacuse asked.

"Yes. She was knocked unconscious when she was coming to the dinner party yesterday night," Harkon replied.

Vacuse raised his brows. "They didn’t kill her?"

"I assu killing anyone would draw attention before the dinner. They didn’t kill anyone before that. We found so servants knocked unconscious as well."

Vacuse nodded. "That makes sense. Everything was planned too well."

Drenvar called the eting in his study, not the usual private study but one he usually used for such matters as etings that shouldn’t be held at court in the hall.

His guards waited outside, joining the others in attendance. Harkon bowed to him and opened the door.

Vacuse sighed softly as he strode in, ntally preparing himself for what was to co.

The lighting in the room was low, but Vacuse imdiately saw the table that dominated the center and the one that sat at the head.

Drenvar. The Dragon Lord.
