The young man looked at the catastrophe unfolding before him. His tears overflowed his eyes with despair. This had been his fault, he had caused it, no one else. And yet a part of him was enjoying it. After all, the world had caused this with its own hands.
The screams of the dying echoed in his ears, feeding that growing joy hiding in the darkest place inside his soul. Is this really how a prince should act? It didn’t seem so royalty, and yet he felt amused by a nation falling all because of him.
He gazed over at the man dying on the floor near him, eaten alive by monsters created by his power. Dark monsters that hid in the dark, waiting for their prey to fall into its trap.
He smiled, seeing as one of the corpses was still alive, crawling to him.
As he felt the cold touch of the dying man on his smooth skin, he felt disgusted. But why did he? Shouldn’t he feel sorry for the man? He had a family and had done nothing to him, so why didn’t he feel any remorse looking at him? It reminded him of himself.
He had not done anything bad, yet the world had made his life a nightmare, making him bear all the darkness of the world by himself. He has been fighting for more than half of his life, death wandering at every corner. That was why the death of others didn’t matter to him, because he had seen it so many tis that he didn’t even care if the ones he killed, were innocent or not, after all, he was once pure as well. The world turned him into what he is. At that mont, the young prince had forgotten how to be human.
The world didn’t want him to be one, he was fated to beco a monster, there was no denying it now, he realized what he had been born to be. Not a charming prince, who is so pure that is considered a saint,
but a demon more evil than the world itself.
The young monster walked through the falling debris, and with each step he took, the monsters followed him like he was their one and true ruler, their king. He smiled as his revenge had finally co. This had been a happy accident or was even a mishap in the first place. Had this been fated to happen, for him to realize his true nature?
As the little monster started enveloping his body, he the cry of a little child. He froze for a second, caught off guard, but completely impossible he made his way to where the child was.
After walking for a minute, he finally found where the sound was coming from. A lonely child holding one of his toys while crying and screaming to his mother who was being crushed by the remains of their little ho.
As the mother noticed the prince, a bright smile appeared on her face as if she was staring at her savior.
One single tear brushed against the prince’s face, as the little child gripped the cloth of his pants, and was asking him to save his mother, but his tears made speaking almost impossible.
With the mother slowly dying, the prince had to make a decision, and so he chose the option that the world would pick if he were in the place of the child.
With one strike of his sword, the prince killed the child’s mother.

Closing the book, I let out a breath. ’Knew it.’ I said while staring at the last words of the Chapter. It made my blood boil, but I had long known this ending. Truly, this isn’t anything rare, it probably is the most common answer you would get if you put a human in this situation. Of course, if you asked them what they would, do their answer would be that they would save the mother, but that is just a lie. And so might try to justify their decision by saying sothing like "Oh I was just ending her misery." But that’s just taking the easy way out.
This book I was reading, took place in a kingdom that had two zones, one reserved for the noble and the rich and one for the opposite. So predicting that the prince would kill the mother was really easy, it wasn’t even related to the one doing it, but where? The lack of resources and food made people kill one another and take their stuff. So the child was stupid to even think soone would help him and his mother when they were such easy targets.
With this question covered, you may be asking why was I reading a book, and that would be an even easier question to answer. ’I was bored out of my mind.’ The system had decided to go silent, and not say anything about the third ga, and in my condition I couldn’t do a lot, not even train with my skill. So I just decided to read so books, since that was sothing that required almost no movent.
It had been so days now, but my body still hurt like hell, which is why I needed to train, and why I was so frustrated that I couldn’t. The only thing that would feed that hunger, was reading others do it, so as frustrating as it was, I just put my pride aside and turned the page to start the next Chapter.
But then a sudden light shone on my eyes, I raised my hand to try to block it, but to no good. It was like it was getting closer... but the sun can’t move.
"Hello there my dear Moon, what are you reading?" The Sun says, his words intoxicating the air with its overwhelming rays of happiness. It made the air thicker to breathe for people like , who try to not stand out, while he, definitely stood out...
’Eclipse... it’s just sothing I found recently and thought it was interesting, though, it pretty underwhelming on how predictable it is.’ I later found out I should have kept the last part out, as he forced to explain the whole book to him. I tried to reason with him, trying to limit it to only the parts I found predictable, but there was no way of negotiating with this guy, so for another hour or so, I stood blinded by the sun while trying to explain the plot of a book I had found recently and didn’t like much.
"It doesn’t seem predictable to , I definitely did not expect him to kill the won." Of course, he didn’t, soone like him had no way of knowing what a human can do when death creeps around him, while on the verge of starvation. A noble like him is used to having food being delivered to him at the snap of his finger.
’Ah, don’t worry too much about it. It’s not like anyone would expect you to understand.’ I said teasingly, which had beco sothing ordinary now, as for so reason, this guy had been following around for so reason since the elimination ga. Thought... this was the first ti seeing him bothered by teasing him.
Sweat dripped down my face, and I jumped a little at his sudden serious face. I had not seen him so focused and sad until now, it was definitely weird. Had I said sothing wrong? No, I had said a lot of things wrong and he never got mad, laughing at most of them. So then what was it, did I touch on a personal topic?
But as I was trying to figure out what bothered him I could apologize or at least make things better. He just turned to and smiled. However, I could tell he was forcing it. ’Even the brightest smile can’t cover soone’s scars.’
"I didn’t know you had such a view of Moon. You aren’t too far off thought." His laughter seems to hide his true feelings. But it seed so unnatural to that Eclipse would do this, that I even considered that I was going mad.
’Just forget it’ I said while closing the book and putting it back on the shelf. I was done reading it, I would just find another later.
"You know Moon, I think we would make good friends!" I glanced at him from the corner of my eyes, a little surprised, not by the comnt, but by how fast his mood changed, though I had gotten used to it.
’Yeah maybe.’ Truly, Eclipse probably has befriended everyone in this ga, that’s how much of a social butterfly he is. Maybe that was why he has been following , I’m the last one here who isn’t his friend, so if I accepted I would be left alone. And if this wasn’t the case, well at least I could study his skill for the next ti I copy it, if there is a next ti. Plus I don’t have anything else do to to spare ti. I was done with books after this last one. The system wasn’t going to probably announce the next ga soon either way.
[Grace period is over, the third ga will be starting tomorrow, good luck!]
’Give a break would you?’
