An iron wall was coming toward . One that should be used to protect, but was now a weapon used for murder. But it lacked the speed and flexibility of sothing designed for killing. So I exploited that weak point and ducked under and dashed beneath his legs.

A screeching sound scratched my ears, as the shield made contact with the wall. My feet pushed forward, burning from constantly moving in all sorts of ways they were designed to be able to do. Of course, the worst of the worst was my spine, but that was already clear, it was practically broken at this point, I could hardly move my waist anymore, each ti I felt like I was being impaled by a bunch of needless.

I gazed up, in front of . Victory. I smiled as the shine reflecting from the clear tal of a sword hit my eyes. A weapon was exactly what I needed at the mont, as I was fighting barehanded.

But suddenly, the air around tensed, I almost choked trying to guide it inside my lungs. And because of its thick viscosity, it moved slower inside my body, not being able to oxygenate all my organs, so my powers were slowly depleting.

I hardly even had the power to turn my head slightly, to see what had caused this sudden change. I cursed at the sight of the hamr-wielder towering over . He had been the only one who I had not immobilized in any way, so I should have expected it. I got carried away.

So what now? I was being carried by my montum straight into his attack. And as much as I wanted to, no twist of my body would have stopped it. I also don’t think I could have taken it, both ntally and physically. I felt like I was being cut up from the inside out, I wanted to throw up, and I could hardly breathe, I had to end this, or just stop prolonging my suffering.

I stretched my hand, my finger reaching for the hilt of the blade, but as my finger touched the wood, I could feel the pressure caused by the hamr breathing on my back. I was out of ti, I couldn’t reach it in ti.

A purple aura appeared around my body, a burning fire that ward it in the darkest tis. This purple aura developed the sword, creating a link between us, and with a twist of my body, that almost caused to black out, hence my eyes slowly turning blurry, I gave the sword enough montum as it flew in the air and straight into the head of the human. I watched, as his body slowly descended beside .

But this wasn’t over. I turned back at the wall, which had recovered from its embarrassnt and was ready to crush to a pulp. ’I have developed a deep hatred for the Shield because of you.’ I tried getting up, but my body started to shake at every one of my attempts. My spine couldn’t continue anymore, it had taken too much damage. But I couldn’t stop when I was this close to victory. So I forced it, one last ti.

I managed to get up on my feet, groaning the whole ti as my body shook uncontrollably. ’Co on, run all you want. I’m done playing around.’

As the wall surged towards , I started running to where the captain was, and with the shield following my every mont, it was easy to bait him.

I moved toward the leader, and as the wall got closer and closer, I pivoted my gravity in my right foot, letting the shield run past . And as his back was turned, a sword flew inside the back of his head. That was two down and two that didn’t have their weapons anymore. Wait... I’m missing one!

I turned around just in ti to guide the sword straight into the arrow that had been aid at my heart. And now, I had the advantage. A bow is an amazing weapon, allowing you to dominate the battlefield while remaining safe, but reloading takes so ti, even though it’s not a lot, it was still too slow, so as he desperately tried loading another arrow, I used the sword to penetrate his skull.

Now, it was ti to end this.

[Activating copied skill [Devourer of Radiance] remaining duration, 250 seconds.]

I dashed forward, heading towards the captain. Seeing this, he tried running around, but due to the fear that was dragging him by the feet, he fell to the hard ground. As he started crawling, I slowed down, so I didn’t run him over.

Now where did he hold his lanterns? Ah there, I see! I slowly grabbed it with my left hand, the one that wasn’t affected by my skill, and looked at the now crying face of the human.

But for the first ti, I didn’t smile at the despair of another human. Not because I felt any bad, no, I was guilt-free. But for the simple fact, I was too disappointed to even laugh. The one standing in front of was really a leader? I have seen so that disgusted , but none on this degree. I didn’t even feel any feeling toward it, just pure disappointnt.

For soone who was supposed to lead his people, not hide behind them, and for soone who even in the fact of death, his instincts only make things worse, is life even worth living? I guess it is. But to be so weak that whenever the reaper cos for you, even running is sothing you can’t do properly do, that is truly what I call embarrassing.

’I’ll end your misery.’ I said while my right hand touched the lanterns, and within a fraction of a second, all the light that was held inside had escaped into the thick air flowing around this labyrinth.

’Why did you decide to go on this path? Or did you even have the chance to do otherwise? Was a pure soul like you played by fate to create this road?’ And even more, why did he choose to co inside The Core in the first place, he could have just stayed ho in bed all day, spending ti with his family...

But I guess I could have chosen that too, so who am I to judge when I’m worse than the one I’m judging?

The lanterns soon lost all their light, causing the mbers of the team to all fall to the ground. But this wasn’t just a gesture of defeat, but one that ant they were already dead.

I... I had done it. I had defeated a whole team on my own barehanded. Take that Dusk! This definitely gained so influence, there is no way people watched give it my all just to laugh it off like sothing they see every day.

But I couldn’t celebrate. As my adrenaline wore off, I felt a tide of pain wash over . I fell to the ground, clenching my heart as I hardly took a few breaths. Even shallowing my saliva seed like I had razors fall down my neck.

I tried laughing it off and tried to get off. But that only amplified the pain. I felt it all through my body, from my spine to my toes and fingers, every part of had been on the edge of death, so they were all hurting like hell. I regret every last one of my actions I have done until now that may have led to this, as it was the most unbearable pain I ever felt.

But I had done it, I have proven one of my theories correct. That this skill does absorb only the supposed light humans have, but any type of light, and in this case, real light.

As proud I was of myself for discovering this, I have to say that it was completely reckless. I based my whole plan on this idea, so if it didn’t work, my plan would have fallen apart.

However, in a dangerous situation, as a leader you have to guide your team inside rciless darkness, you can always make safe decisions. And if you can, they aren’t always the best decision. You have to crawl out of your comfort zone whenever you’re fighting in an unknown battleground, as they know the field better than you, and the only way to catch them by surprise is by doing sothing that even you don’t expect.

You only have to have the courage and natural feeling of leadership running through your veins. You have to be proud of what you are, to think you’re better than anyone else, and that is the reason why they follow you. Because their weak and need soone strong to help.

There is... just one more person in this scenario that could compete with for that title. The one that ets all of these conditions better than and so more of his own. But that didn’t matter, because today, I had won.

’Were you watching... Dusk?’
