Hannah blinked, surprised, and turned sharply to Logan. "Brother... Why does it say my na?"
Jean looked at Logan too, curiosity softening the tension in her face. Even Henry paused, brows knitting in question.
Logan exhaled, a small, almost boyish smile tugging at his lips. "Your birthday is coming up, rember? and Dad wanted you to have a house... sowhere that’s yours, after landing your job."
Hannah’s lips parted, speechless. "Logan... you shouldn’t have..."
"Of course I should," He cut her off gently. "Every Kingsley deserves a piece of ho. Especially my annoying little sister."
A breathless laugh escaped her lips, eyes shimring. "And you never even told ," She whispered.
Logan’s smile turned soft, almost teasing. "Would’ve ruined the surprise, wouldn’t it?"
Henry pulled the van to a stop near the steps. For a heartbeat, silence hung between them all, their weariness mixing with a fragile relief. Logan pressed a light kiss to Jean’s temple.
"Co on," He murmured. "Let’s get everyone inside."
Jean nodded, leaning into him just a little longer before stepping out into the cool night air.
Henry carefully helped Emma out, his hand steady under her arm. Hannah trailed behind, still blinking away tears, eyes sweeping over her na on the gate like she was trying to convince herself it was real.
And as Logan unlocked the door to the penthouse, he threw one last glance at the group, silently vowing. Whatever was coming next, they’d face it together... under a roof ant to keep them safe.

The front door opened with a low groan, revealing a spacious, tastefully furnished penthouse. The living area glowed under soft recessed lights; pale marble floors glead, and large windows frad the city skyline far in the distance.
Emma stepped inside first, leaning a little on Hannah’s arm. Her eyes widened, lips parting at the sheer elegance around her.
"Wow... this is... beautiful," She whispered, almost forgetting the weight that brought them here.
Hannah looked around too, her na still echoing in her mind, fingers brushing lightly over a console table as if to prove to herself this was real.
"I can’t believe this is actually mine..." She murmured, voice a mixture of wonder and disbelief.
Jean watched them with a soft smile, grateful, at least for this pause. But the heaviness in her chest never fully lifted.
Logan turned to Henry, his tone quiet but edged with urgency.
"We can’t stay too long. If Alex or anyone in the Adams family is looking, they might trace Emma’s phone, old routes, even her hospital records."
Henry’s gaze darkened, jaw tight.
"Agreed. I left behind enough false trails to buy us a few days... a week if we’re lucky. But after that..."
Jean’s brows drew together, worry clouding her eyes. "And after that? Where do we go?"
Henry exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Sowhere quieter, maybe out of state. But we’ll need new IDs, papers, everything. I can arrange it but it’ll take ti."
Logan nodded. "Ti... we’ll have to make. For now, we stay here. It’s off the grid, and no one outside the family knows about this place."
Henry added, almost as if thinking out loud. "And Emma can rest. She needs to regain strength if she’s going to speak up about what she knows."
Jean’s shoulders softened at that, her heart easing just a little. She looked over at Emma, who was now settling onto the plush sofa, eyes still wide with cautious hope.
Logan’s hand slid over Jean’s back, grounding her. "We’ll protect her, Jean. And you."
She turned to face him fully, her voice barely a whisper. "Thank you... for all of this."
He caught her eyes, softer than ever, but his words stayed careful. "It’s not charity, Jean. It’s what family does."
Across the room, Hannah flopped beside Emma on the couch, laughing lightly as Emma pointed out the small details... The warm rugs, the discreet bookshelves, the city view. For a heartbeat, it felt almost normal.
But as Logan, Jean, and Henry exchanged looks... shadows of what was coming reflected in all three faces... they knew the reprieve wouldn’t last.
Yet for tonight, under this unfamiliar but safe roof, it was enough to simply have each other.

While Henry and Hannah settled Emma into the guest room, Jean quietly stepped out onto the balcony. The night air was cooler here, brushing against her flushed skin, carrying the faint scent of rain still lingering from earlier.
She wrapped her arms around herself, eyes wandering over the distant city lights. So much had happened in so little ti... Emma’s return, the danger that still hovered above them, and Logan’s quiet support beside her.
Everything will be fine.
Monts later, the glass door behind her slid open, and Logan stepped out. His silhouette paused at the doorway before he joined her, standing just close enough that their shoulders almost touched.
"You didn’t eat anything tonight," He murmured, voice low and warm.
Jean’s lips tugged into a faint, tired smile. "I couldn’t... I felt too restless."
Logan glanced sideways at her, his expression softening. "I know. It’s a lot. More than anyone should carry."
She drew in a shaky breath, her gaze dropping to her hands. "But I have to. Emma... she deserves it. And so do you, Logan. You’ve done so much... I don’t even know how to thank you."
"You don’t have to thank ," he replied quietly, turning so he could see her face more clearly. "You just have to let in, Jean. Really let in."
Jean t his gaze, the city’s glow reflected in her dark eyes. "I’m trying," She whispered. "Every day, I’m trying. But it still scares ... how much I want to rely on you."
Logan took a careful step closer, closing the last bit of space. His hand lifted, brushing her hair back behind her ear. His fingers lingered at her cheek, gentle, grounding. "Then rely on . It’s not a weakness to need soone, Jean."
"And if I break again?" Her voice trembled, raw with honesty.
"Then I’ll be there to help you put the pieces back together," He promised, his thumb tracing lightly over her skin.
