After the evening, there was just another small event for the guests to eat in the Sanctum in each other’s company. Most of their VIP guests, however, decided not to co down and enjoyed their dinner in their own rooms.
Damian, with Evrin and Souldealer, had paid a brief visit, answering so questions the guests had about his speech, and then left.
The commoners who were invited to the event finally had at least a hint as to why they were invited. Damian had not made the offer yet, but still, people could guess how it would be.
A massive research project focused on dungeons.
Damian already had more detailed information about the dungeons in his control than any other leader of the country did. They had already planned to do a little demonstration of their knowledge to attract people to join, alongside tomorrow’s academy inauguration event.
The few students they had already admitted were all army relatives. They were going to announce the academy admission thod tomorrow for everyone else. The army kids were also going to take the admission test for their ranks alongside others.
Lucian, Souldealer, and others had put a lot of ti into preparing for the academy’s opening. Damian, too, had given so suggestions, like all Espers could get automatically admitted to the academy and put in a special class. If the potential of the esper was impressive enough, they could get a choice to keep their identities hidden and could attend the academy in other classes of their choice.
The pathfinder kids will have to go through a test for them to have a ranking. Using the ranking, they could separate students into classes, which will not be mandatory. A kid with a higher ranking could attend any class he or she wanted; the lower ranking ones would have to work hard to upgrade their classes.
Damian thought about making things easier for them, but that would not suit the world they were living in at all. With monsters and dungeons, they had to give talented kids the required education and opportunities to grow as strong as possible.
The academy was also going to have several classes that mundane kids could join as well. There wouldn’t be any restriction for them to join the Pathfinder subject classes, but it wouldn’t be made easier for them either. If they were capable enough to pass the exams, it would be a well-earned place for them.
Damian had planned to use his mana liquid runic suits(non-lethal version) and tools to aid talented mundane students learn the battle arts. Monsters were not going to go away; the least he could do was to prepare the future generation to adapt to their world and do so actual growth.
The next day ca, once again, a huge crowd had ford outside the academy, but this ti only the academy staff and Sanctum officials, along with their invited guests, were welcod inside. The public outside was seeing it all unfold on giant golden screens Mindseer had made.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was done by Land-breaker himself, and the introduced staff mbers also had many high-level second-ranker Highswords. Voidshaper had even asked Damian if they could send Highsword Academy kids, who co to Edgeheaven Island in search of knowledge, here. Damian had agreed and made Voidshaper a board mber that would work under Lucian; Ilvanya was also a mber.
The whole world could see that the new academy was supported by the Highswords and was not competing against it.
Lucian gave a speech as the head of education, announced the admission thod, and the date of tests. Everyone was expecting all the pathfinder kids to be able to learn here; everyone knew Sanctum did not discriminate based on one’s birth status or strength.
The surprise ca, however, when Lucian announced night school, which would teach adults how to read and write and provide general knowledge of their world. Anyone coming regularly and passing this class will be awarded a certificate, which will be required for many advanced jobs that Sanctum is going to hire people for.
Those who knew how to read and write could just take the test, which will be held once a month, to get the certificate.
After the speech, they had a small exhibition of the items recovered from the various dungeons. Not the dungeon relics, but simple items that shed so light on their supposed civilizations. Each had a description, explaining where they had found it and what might be its use in this dungeon civilization. There were hundreds of such items.
For hours, the audio departnt kept reading the descriptions of items as Mindseer showed every item on the screen one by one.
After that was a lecture/speech from Voidshaper and Vidalia. The army kids were placed in a lecture room to replicate what the lecture hall would look like from now on.
Following that was the grand opening of the dungeon research division.
Already, they had many people who asked to be part of this research, but they had only selected a few who were from Sanctum ahead of this day. Still in the last minute, Damian added Ilvanya, so Highsword knights, and so of the invited researchers to the list of mbers taking oaths of joining the research division today.
It wasn’t anything fixed, just a simple ntioning of the nas, and in reply, the ntioned person standing in a circle, repeating the words that went like, ’I, a na, take an oath of studying and protecting the mysterious knowledge of the dungeons and their relics, monsters, civilization, for the good of all humanity.. etc. ’
It all ended in the evening.
But before ending it, they announced the tournant rules once again on the audio channel. Telling people the initial rounds were about to start, anyone who wished to participate should head to the coliseum on the island of New Dawn.
The stadium was full of runic lights, so it could go on late into the night, selecting the challengers for tomorrow’s tournant.
