Chapter 150

Strong arms wrapped around her as she let the tears fall, and she was even sniffling. This was the second ti they t, and they were in the sa scenario as before. Why does she have to be in this situation whenever he stumbles on her? It seed like fate was letting him witness how she actually needed his protection. When she was at her lowest point, she obviously needed soone to rely on. Soone that could give her warmth from her cold, bitter heart that was only shrouded with vengeance.

She couldn’t help weeping in his arms. He slowly let her fall on the ground, but he guided her body. She was sitting on his lap and was caressing the back of her head.

It just hurt so damn much. It hurt being betrayed again and again by the sa people. She thought she had the upper hand already, and then it all crashed down. Heavier, more painful.

She blad herself for Lorna’s death. She was nothing but helpful and kind to her. Though she never trusted the girl, she had grown attached to her. Lorna’s playfulness and childishness were a breath of fresh air to her, so she doubted her every approach.

"Why?" She voiced out the freaking question again. "Why do they do this to , Ezekiel?" She was clutching his arms as her head was buried at the crook of his neck. "I haven’t done anything wrong to the world." She said in between sniffles. "Not until they attacked us first."

She slowly lifted her head and t his gaze. His green eyes made her breath catch in her lungs. They were so vibrant. So alive. Unlike hers, which was total blackness, like her heart that was only full of hatred and unending pain.

lisca cupped his cheeks. The longer she stared, the more she gradually saw the sadness in them. It was as if he felt her pain. And she wanted to make him feel more of it. Maybe it would sohow lessen how heavy it was for her. Maybe he could lift so of the weight from her.

"Why do they want to hurt so bad?" Her voice was hoarse from all the crying, and the lump in her throat had long stayed. "Even the supernaturals wanted dead. Your people wanted dead. The only ones who cared for had been taken away. I only wished for my family. Just my mom and dad. And I wouldn’t be a threat. I wouldn’t hurt anyone."

Then she saw a tear escape his eyes. They were tears for her. He felt it. He felt her grieving heart. Then she felt it too. Another surge of pain that made her gasp for air. She caused it. She was hurting him, and it bounced back on her. She grazed her thumb to wipe away the tears she caused him.

She swallowed freaking hard to find her voice again. "I’m sorry. I’m hurting you."

How the hell would she not fall for soone like him? He was a responsible king. He had a heart for his people. And he was there when she least expected it. Fate always brought him to her in her most vulnerable mont.

Ezekiel couldn’t find words for what he was feeling. There was so damn much. All the pain, the longing, his hungriness for her, the worry, everything. He doesn’t even know where to start. But it was pain that prevailed when she asked those questions while looking straight into his eyes.

He was ashad that even the supernaturals had backed away from her. She was already targeted by humans, her own relatives, and yet, the other part in her blood hated her all the sa.

It wasn’t her entire fault. She wasn’t at fault at all.

It wasn’t her choice to be born a hybrid. Just like him. He knew that pain of being judged and always felt like a threat to the entire creature. If he wasn’t royalty, maybe he would be treated like lisca. But people feared him too much that they wouldn’t dare threaten him. But it was his father that used him to be a tool of fear for other races. And that even got his biological mother killed. He hated him for it. That was why he chose to side with the wolves. His mother was the sister of the forr wolf king.

His mother truly loved his father. It was a secret relationship. Ezra, his mother hasn’t t her mate, and she had fallen in love with Karlyle, a vampire prince. The two kept their relationship for an entire century. Even after the Grim War. Then Ezra got pregnant. The Moon Empire was in chaos over who should be their ruler since the Alpha King died.

Karlyle was power hungry also. He wanted the wolves to be one with the Blood Court then, as he had the leverage of their potential heir. But the wolves wouldn’t want to be ruled by their natural nesis.

Ezra wanted Karlyle to co with her instead. She wanted them to live peacefully as a complete family. Since Karlyle was a vampire, he could leave his clan. Ezra couldn’t leave her pack, as it would take a toll on her. Wolves should be in packs, anyone who stayed without for so long could possibly turn into a rogue.

But Karlyle would never leave the court. Ezra was heartbroken, and Moon Empire was taken over by the beta. Ezra was ridiculed for not having a mate and giving birth to a bastard son instead. She protected Ezekiel until her last breath. They were constantly threatened, as the beta knew that despite everything. Her son was the rightful heir of the Moon Empire.

When her mother died. Karlyle took him to his side. He said that he should continue to live and get strong to take back what was taken from him. He grew to love his father then. Until he found out that he was only training him to be his weapon to get the wolf by his side. He was manipulating him to extend his power to other races. That was when he decided to leave the Blood Court. He decided to get the Moon Empire back as he killed the Beta of the forr king to take the throne back.

He wouldn’t let his father manipulate him into anything. Karlyle wanted him to take his place. For Ezekiel to rule the vamps instead of Dravin. For if he ruled the Blood Court, he also had the Moon Empire by his palms because of his dominant aura. He doesn’t want the Blood King to gain control outside his own race. That was why he stayed with the Moon Empire. He cut ties with the Blood Court. He wasn’t like his father. He wasn’t greedy. He wouldn’t manipulate people for power.
