Looking at how the girl was on the verge of being at tears, Lydia couldn't help but step in. "Are you an idiot? Why would your wounds be treated if you're going to be hard?"

Violet blinked her eyes, registering that. Then, staring at Lucas, she comnted in an accusing tone, "You fooled ."

Lucas chuckled. "Lydia, I was going to get her bawling. You always know how to ruin the fun."

Lydia rolled her eyes at the man's childishness. The confusion on Violet's face made Lydia take pity and explain, "This fool found you and brought you here. I took care of the wounds. And your child..."

Lydia paused for a second.

Violet's hand fell on her stomach, recalling how she was pregnant. Although the pain couldn't make the reality more obvious to her, everything still felt like a fever dream to her.

"Although the child was shaken up, it's a strong one. I will prescribe you so dicine. It should be fine," Lydia expressed.

Violet's expression turned downcasted. She had mixed feelings about the child. Growing up, especially since her father had passed away, she always wanted to have a family of her own.

The pack values laid out for her aligned with her values. When a female werewolf found her mate, she would obediently mate with him and bear him children to form family.

She had a typical dream with Mathew as well. A loving husband, a pair of cute children, and a warm ho— however, all of that shattered in the blink of an eye.

Now, she was pregnant with the child of a man she couldn't even recall the face of.

Did she really wish to give birth to this child?

"What an incompetent loser your mate must be? How could he let his pregnant mate go out like this out of pack land and lose her life? Let have a word with him, alright?" Lucas vocalized, noticing the depression in Mathew's eyes.

Violet smiled softly and didn't say anything.

"Thank you for everything. I will repay you for it. Can I know which pack am I in?" Violet inquired.

"Pack?" Lucas stated. "What's that? You are on free wolf's land!"

Violet tilted her head, slightly confused.

Seeing how they were getting along, Lydia said, "You keep her entertained. I will go and talk with the Alpha."

Following that, Lydia was out of the door.

"I guess you can call us rogues. We are all without pack, and we sort of gathered here," Lucas provided an explanation.

Violet was a little surprised. Although she never got to et them, the rumors that ran around made her believe they were violent and without reason. Any small entanglent was enough for them to go on a killing spree and start a bloodshed.

Lucas noticed the expression on her face. "What? Can't a rogue be nice?"

Instantly, feeling guilty for her assumptions, Violet shook her head.

"Of course, you can be. It's just that I have never t a rogue, and the rumors... ah... sorry, if I have offended you," Violet stated, "Prejudice indeed does a lot of harm."

Lucas let out a wholehearted laugh.

"Nah, rumors are actually true. You shouldn't be foolish enough to believe rogues are capable of reason. However, you are fortunate that you have t soone as nice as ," Lucas expressed, patting his chest.

Violet could see his effort in trying to lift up her mood. A small smile broke out from the corner of her lips as she nodded her head.

"Alpha, she is pregnant. Is it your child?" Lydia asked— the mont she was allowed to enter the Alpha's office.

Darkness shrouded the room. The dim lighting peeking in through the thick curtains highlighted a figure sitting on the couch. As he leaned against the backseat, his hand held on to a glass of wine, swirling it.

Lydia's words made him pause for a second before he continued his motion.

Sylas's silence, although evoked a sense of nervousness within Lydia, made her carry on further.

"That day, I saw her. And if it wasn't her, why would you bring her back to the pack? The fact that she could get pregnant with your child ans—"

Before Lydia's words could continue, Sylas cut her off coldly. "The child won't be there anymore."

Lydia's eyes widened for a second. "You want to get rid of the child?"

The pair of grey blue eyes fell on her, affirming her statent.

Although they were not without a pack, making Sylas no longer soone who could command her, she knew that his presence was enough for her to bow down her head.

Lydia clenched her hand into a tight fist.

"I can't do that without the mother's permission. And the child might not be yours. She has a mate." Lydia mustered up her courage.

"You investigated her." Despite his words holding no emotions, Lydia understood he was displeased with her for crossing her boundaries.

"I did it out of your best interest," Lydia clarified.

Seeing how Sylas gave her no response, Lydia asked, "Are you not going to check up on her?"

"Have her leave once she has recovered. You will be punished if you do not handle it properly."

"Alpha, she is in a really bad state. Her wolf is weakened. Maybe she is unable to connect with it at all now. She is as fragile as a human, maybe even weaker. ntally, she should be even worse," Lydia inford.

She then added, "Do I wait until she is completely recovered?"

"Am I operating a charity here?" Sylas shot back.

Lydia could only sigh and shake her head.

When Lucas left the room, Violet found herself alone in the room with her thoughts. Curling up, she hugged her knees tightly. Resting her head on her knees, Violet found herself helpless.

Even though her heart burned with the intent to take revenge, what can she even do?

Violet was brought up like a rose in a greenhouse. Never was she taught to fight for herself. Growing up, she always depended on others to protect her. And now, she couldn't even transform.

Tears gathered at the corner of her eyes at this.
