Aside from the people here, Violet believed the best part about living here had to be the food.

As she wiped the table clean— doing her part of the duty according to Sylas— Violet eagerly watched as Lucas worked the kitchen. While he assembled the chicken sandwich, the cold plum soup was already poured in the bowl ready to be served.

In her previous pack, Violet was taught to eat under discretion. There was many things she had to mind. As she was supposed to be the motherly figure in the pack, she couldn't indulge too much.

The food served to her were usually bland and in minimal quantity. As other she-wolves in the pack brought up to be a perfect bride, she was expected to be a doll and maintain a slender figure.

Back then, she found nothing wrong with it since that was the norm growing up. But ever since she had been spoiled by Lucas here, she didn't think she could get to the frugality.

Violet's eyes sparkled when the man served the food on the table. Although she was the first to sit down, she waited for everyone to arrive before starting to eat.

Being accustod to staying here, Violet's reserved attitude long disappeared. She scooped so plum soup with her spoon and took a sip. The cool, sour yet sweet flavours perated through her tongue, leaving her feeling refreshed.

"Slow down, Princess. Were you starved in your previous pack?" Lucas asked, amused. Nevertheless, he always the vibrant expressions Violet displayed after enjoying his food.

Violet honestly nodded. "I didn't think I was, but now, I think I was."

Lucas let out a chuckle.

"Stop inflating his ego, Violet. He learned to cook to impress the ladies in the first place after all," Lydia comnted, rolling her eyes.

Lucas shot a piercing look at Lydia. "To impress the ladies? Wasn't it you who forced to learn to cook? You are quick to betray, Lydia."

Violet took a sip of the soup as she watched the argunt between Lucas and Lydia. There was sothing between them that she couldn't quite put the finger to.

"Did both of you date?" Violet abruptly asked, catching both of them by surprise.

Lucas choked and patted on his chest. "What are you saying?"

"Both of you fight like a divorced human couple," Violet explained.

"Don't give the scare again by saying sothing like that, Violet. As if I would be dating that demonness even if she was the last woman on Earth." Lucas shuddered.

Violet frowned, thinking that Lucas had gone too far.

Violet hugged Lydia by her waist and stuck her face to the woman. She then voiced out, "You can't say that about Lydia. She is a treasure. Anyone would be lucky to date her."

"I get your affections, Violet, but you don't have to stick so close to . Eat your food," Lydia stated, trying to push Violet off.

As Violet sat up straight, she gave the woman a silly smile.

Then, the conversation on the table took turns to a solemn route.

Lydia started, "I was in the Yellow Arrow pack today. From what I heard there, they made a deal with Mathew to trade Violet for a mine. They should have made guesses that she is here."

Violet wasn't clueless to the multiple mines owned by her pack. Although she never got to visit them— her father believing that the sites are too dangerous for her— she had an idea on where they are and how much inco they could possibly generate.

"Those mines are mine. They can't have them," Violet mumbled.

"It's a matter of ti before they gather enough werewolves and co here to search for Violet. If they get the council in on the matter, even I wouldn't be able to resist," Sylas explained.

Then, Sylas's eyes fell on Violet, and he added, "That is why it would have been better for us to send her off. They wouldn't have dared to ss around in human lands."

Feeling guilty, Violet looked away, not daring to et the Alpha's eyes.

"The only way to stop all this is for Violet to get back her wolf. Trained or not, she is still the legitimate heir to the pack. Mathew is rely her mate. As long as she manages to do that, she will naturally be able to subdue her pack," Lydia stated.

Unlike Mathew who just had his position and threats to control the lower wolves, Violet's bloodline as an Alpha would make her pack instinctively bow their heads to her— naturally following her commands.

Lydia then carried on, "It will be better to take her to a werewolf hospital. My ntor can provide her with a comprehensive test, and let us know the next possible step to take."

Violet watched them make plans of her life in front of her.

Sylas turned his gaze towards her and questioned, "Is there anything you would like to add?"

She shook her head. "You all are already doing a lot for . I don't even know if I will ever be able to repay you."

Lydia voiced out, "The best way for you to repay is taking back your pack and making that bastard miserable. I can't believe the audacity he has swaggering around shalessly and making up lies."

Lydia's anger amused Violet.

She nodded her head aggressively.

The rage bubbling inside Mathew had him throw everything on the table down. The fragile glass items crashed against the floor, the shards spreading across the place.

Mathew growled.

"How could not even a single one of those fucking packs find her? After all that I paid them, are they taking for a damned retard and playing around!? Could it be that those bastards are hiding her?!" Mathew shouted.

Bella opened the door and entered the room. Seeing Mathew's outburst, she felt a little irritated, but she fixed her smile, appearing to be the gentle and considerate partner that Mathew wanted.

Bella spoke out, "Alpha, it wouldn't be good for your health if you keep on stressing out. You didn't have lunch earlier as well. Why don't we think of what to do over dinner?"

Mathew looked at her. His red eyes burned with anger in them. He grabbed on to Bella's shoulder. The force made her wince visibly, but he paid no attention to it.

"Tell , Bella. You said that I will be the Alpha of the pack, you said that my pack will be the strongest, everyone will respect and bow down to — but what is this? Could it be that you were also fooling !?" Mathew yelled.

It took all within Bella to not grimace. Maintaining a pleasant expression, she tried to soothe him.

"Everything will fall into place, Mathew. Even if they are protecting that Violet, so what? You already disabled her. She is not even a wolf now. What can she do?" Bella stated, "we will get rid of her. You have been taking on too much pressure these days. That's why, you feel this way."

Mathew's grip on Bella loosened slightly. He furrowed his brows, expressing, "I am becoming weaker. Did the new batch of drugs appear? They are supposed to be better and improved."

Bella nodded. "They did, but they haven't been tested on yet. Isn't it too reckless to consu them without proper testing?"

Mathew groaned. "I don't have ti for that. I have to get stronger faster, so that all the nearby packs can submit to . I need to sit on top of the throne."

Ambition colored his eyes.
