Chapter 209: Sapporo, Here We Go!

Well, needless to say, Higo couldn’t really sleep the night before their trip to Sapporo again. Not from the nervousness, of course, but from being forced into an awkward and uncomfortable conversation by his sister, far in the capital.

"Bah! What are you doing, Brat?! Planning sothing grand for a confession?! There would always be sothing bigger, and you would only feel shallow for comparing yours with the others! Just stay focused on her and do what you both like to do, create a romantic atmosphere, and bring her back ho as my sister-in-law!"

Up until now, Higo still cursed his mother for being a traitor here, spilling all of his words to his big sister. After a long conversation spanning at least a full hour, he woke up the next morning with panda bags under his eyes, still feeling sleepy from the uncomfortable sleep he had had last night.

"Ryukkun... Are you okay?" Kumiko asked in concern once she caught his tired face, both hands on her hips as she sighed helplessly. "I told you that you should have a quick sleep before! Now, look at you, looking so battered even before we leave! How could you do that to yourself?! Wait for a mont, I will bring sothing from ho."

She didn’t even wait for Higo to say anything, just dashing back to her ho quickly. Minami, who saw this, giggled, trying to look innocent when Higo’s glare turned on her.

"What?" She smiled teasingly.

"Mom, you traitor." He cursed, still with his glare on her. "It should be you who told Aya-nee to have that talk, right? Now, Kumiko-chan will think that this is because I am too nervous, you know?!"

"I an, is that even wrong?"

The boy just felt the corner of his lips twitch as he was too speechless to answer, knowing that any argunt would be like punching a soft cotton here. Instead, he just brought his bag back, trying to check whether everything was ready or not.

A mont later, Kumiko was back again, and this ti, she brought a thermos full of hot tea. "This is the green tea that Mom bought from her trip to Shizuoka last month. Try it, this will help you rest better."

"Thanks, Kumiko-chan, I appreciate it." Higo nodded, taking the small cup before finishing the drink with one gulp. "I will just take my ti on the bus to sleep. Co on, let’s head to school. Mom, we are going first!"

"Obaasan, wish us luck, okay?!" Kumiko added.

"Sure! Don’t forget to have fun!" Minami shouted back. After pondering for a second, she added, "Kumiko-chan, keep your eyes on my boy, okay?! Don’t let him wander alone, and don’t forget to have a nice date as well!"

This ti, Kumiko’s face was so red, like she was a boiled lobster, not expecting Minami to shout sothing outrageous like that in such an early morning, when all the neighbors should’ve been awoken by then. Higo himself groaned, sohow cursing himself annoyedly for not seeing this coming.

"Sorry about that, Kumiko-chan. You know my mom’s antics when she is having fun, right?" He spoke apologetically.

"Uh! Ah—I don’t mind about it..." Her voice was weaker than ever as she said the last part. "I an, it would be nice to have a date in Sapporo, right?"

Unfortunately, her voice was too weak for Higo to hear, as he could only ask confusedly, "Did you say sothing else, Kumiko-chan?"

"N—NO!" She stuttered a little bit; her ears were so red right now.

After checking her one last ti, Higo shrugged, knowing that he wouldn’t get any answer from her. In the end, they went straight to the school, and once they arrived, those two were greeted by the scene of the majestic bus on the school’s pitch, waiting for the football team to arrive.

"Oh, Shishida-san, you are here!" Suddenly, a man with a bloated stomach ca to them with a smile. They both knew that the man was Usami’s father, the hidden tycoon and also the angel donor for the team. "We, I an, the parents’ association will go in the next two hours, especially since so of us need to do sothing first. We will go straight to the do later. You don’t mind that, right?"

"It’s okay, Ojiisan! Our ga will be this evening, so you will not be that late." Kumiko answered before she bowed her head quickly. "Thank you for your support of the team once again, Ojiisan! We appreciate everything you bring to us here..."

Higo also bowed slightly, recognizing that without the man in front of him, the team would suffer a lot during their ti in Sapporo.

The man himself just waved the concern off nonchalantly. "Bah! Why are you bowing at

like that?! I should be the one who thanks you here, for helping

take care of Usa-chan and build more confidence in him! Speaking of my son, there he is! Why don’t you both go there as well!" He pointed at a spot behind the bus where most players had already gathered.

It seed the man wasn’t really comfortable receiving such flattery from a teenage girl like Kumiko. Well, the girl understood this, so she just thanked him once again before dragging Higo straight to the team.

"Damn, have you seen the upgrade on the bus yet?!"

"I have! It looks slicker than ever! Also, we have our own fridge?!"

"Yeah, I have seen that! It is small, but full of cold beverages for the match!"

"Shit, Usami! Your father rocks!"

Usami himself buried his face in embarrassnt, once again showing a contradiction, as his father was probably the most socialized person in this crowd. Well, that was probably why the boy’s father always supported the team, since this group really brought his son out of his shell.

As more players arrived, Kumiko did one last check, counting on everyone so that no one left behind. After she was sure that they had everything inside, the girl finally shouted, "Okay, everyone! Get inside the bus! We have a big ga to play today!"
