Chapter 205: Night Conversation with Mom & Kumiko

Well, it was such a lovely dinner, and everyone enjoyed their mont there. Even without any alcohol involved, they could still have a lot of fun, from playing board gas to the point where they had to have an easy eating contest here.

However, just like any good thing in the world, everything would have to et its end. In this case, Kumiko took a glance at her watch, and when she saw it was already close to 9 at night, she knew that this little dinner had to be finished now.

Once everyone was back, Kumiko and Higo also went to their own ho, just to find out that Higo’s mother had already been waiting for their arrival there.

"Congratulations on the win!" She greeted those two cheerfully. "Also, I am so sorry, Kumiko-chan, but it seems that you have to stay here a little bit. Yumiko-chan and Shiro-san called

earlier, saying that they have to arrive late tonight." She smiled apologetically toward the girl.

Those two were Kumiko’s parents, and they seed to be way busier than ever right now. Still, that didn’t an they could neglect their daughter like this, especially since it wasn’t the first ti they had done sothing similar.

"Again?!" If anything, it was Higo who showed his displeasure. Kumiko herself sighed helplessly, having already been expecting this outco since the beginning. Seeing her so dejected like this, the boy couldn’t help but ask, "Shall I make a call to Aunty? I an, sothing has to be changed, right?"

Kumiko just smiled weakly here. If she were in a better mood, the girl might be touched here. However, in this case, she just shook her head lightly. "Don’t worry, I am okay. They are also working hard for

to pay for my university years later. I don’t think being late once or twice will matter too much here."

Higo and Minami just looked at each other for a second, both showing their displeasure here. It was clear that they were not satisfied with the answer. However, since Kumiko didn’t want to discuss it further, they still respected this distance while only keeping their eyes on their neighbor, hoping that everything was normal around.

"Anyway, let’s just go back to the kitchen! I prepared a lot of things for you!" Minami invited, snapping everyone from their own thought.

Intrigued, those two teenagers just walked straight to the kitchen. Much to their confusion, though, there was no sll at all inside, not giving any idea of what food this might be. Well, at least, until Higo realized a horror thought here.

"Does that an everything is a cold dish like a bowl of salad?"

Well, this was a basic concern, and yet, it also snapped them back to reality here. While he didn’t mind so sort of salad, right now, his fatigue really took a toll, so Higo would appreciate any protein to fix him up right now.

"Oh, don’t worry, this is definitely better than salad!" Minami smiled enthusiastically here, wanting to see how they would react to her creation. "I know you guys would go to that old yakiniku place and have so at, so I have prepared so many fruits here! I picked them all carefully, you know? Checking which one is good for a player and which one is not!"

The way she smiled showed that she was so proud of it, waiting for the praise from the teens. Higo himself felt the corner of his lips twitching. There, on the table, almost all the fruits he could imagine were there, from the normal ones like banana and apple to the strange ones that he had never seen before.

Well, Higo had to admit here that he had done his research before and knew that most of them were beneficial for him. Their high antioxidant content helped reduce inflammation and speed up muscle recovery post-ga, which was why they were recomnded to have them after an arduous ga like this.

"Thanks, Mom, I appreciate it," Higo said softly as he took a seat, starting to munch so small blueberries in one go. "Co on, Kumiko-chan! Mom prepares so many for us, and they all are fresh here!" He invited the girl.

Well, she didn’t need to be told twice. The bad mood she had earlier, after knowing that her parents were busy and couldn’t greet her, vanished imdiately, and, as if wanting to take revenge, the girl gobbled the fruit without hesitation.

Seeing the two kids she watched growing up together to have fun like this, Minami couldn’t help but smile here. "So, you won the ga, right? Does that an you are going to the do again?" She asked, resting her chin on her hand as she sat next to Kumiko.

"Um!" Higo nodded, his mouth still full of fruit. After having a hard ti swallowing it, he added, "Will you go there as well, like last sumr?"

Even though he tried to be casual, the mother could hear a hint of expectation hidden in his tone. It seed the boy really wanted to have her there, on the biggest stage of the prefectural tournant.

"It would be a week after this, right?" Instead of answering directly, Minami asked Kumiko about the schedule. At the girl’s nod, her face was full of trouble. "I would like to, but I can only spare my ti starting on Tuesday. It is so close to Christmas, and it is harder to get a day off right now." She sighed helplessly.

Much to her surprise, though, Higo’s eyes lit up in excitent. "That’s perfect, Mom! You don’t have to watch the semifinal on Sunday! Just go to the do on Thursday and watch us lift the trophy!"

Yeah, instead of having her watch the ga against Esashi, wouldn’t it be better to get his mother watching the final directly? That would be his glorious mont as well, so this was definitely the best-case scenario for Higo.

"Oh? You are that confident in beating your semifinal opponent?" Minami arched her eyebrows slightly.

In return, Higo just smiled smugly, his cheek was still holding so fruits as if he were a squirrel, before the boy patted his chest proudly. "Don’t worry, Mom! Kumiko-chan is here, and with

on the back as well, there is no way we can be defeated in the semifinal!"
