The wedding hadn’t passed yet and already there was trouble. No matter how she thought about it, Beth couldn’t understand why Jack was so caught up with Scarlet. Had he forgotten the important detail that he cheated on Scarlet? That he was divorced?

’He wants her back,’ Beth thought, knowing this all along, but she ca to terms with it now. She had not gone through all of this just for Jack to get back with Scarlet.

Beth had risen from nothing to being a woman of status. She could not be known as the mistress who almost had the ring. She would be laughed at by the people she boasted about her new life.

Jack needed to stop looking back at the past and look forward to the future. Everything was going so well until Jack saw that Scarlet had another man in her life. What happened to Jack who had all these insults for Scarlet?

"Jack, you must be careful. I find it sweet that you are trying to protect her, but you must not be fooled. She didn’t love you then and she will not love you now. She is a confusing woman. That is why she has that man around her," Beth said, trying to end his interest.

"You do not know what you speak of. I am the one to know her best. Take the carriage and be on your way ho, Beth. You’ve spent enough money and there is much you need to prepare for. Think about the business you want to have so you can spend your money," said Jack.

"I have been thinking about it and want to sell dresses of the highest quality so only a few can afford them. I need to find a good dressmaker. Doesn’t that sound good?" Beth questioned, anticipating a complint for her plans.

"Would that suit you? What about you would lead others to want to buy your dresses? Are you known among won for dressing well?" Jack asked.

Jack was bored of every woman who wanted to play owner, deciding to sell dresses in town. There were too many shops already selling dresses. Couldn’t Beth have co up with sothing more exciting?

Beth took a step back from Jack. "I would make sure that the dresses look wonderful. Like nothing they have seen before. Did you want to say that I would open a hotel or whatever business Scarlet had?" She asked, a little too loud for Jack’s liking.

Jack grabbed Beth’s arm and pulled her close. "Lower your voice. Do you want to embarrass where I work?"

"Ha," Beth scoffed. "I would embarrass you? Why are you thinking that so much today? First with eting the king and now this. Do you find it embarrassing to go from Scarlet to ?"

Beth once again thought about others’ comnts about her being like Scarlet. With all the gifts given to her by Jack, had he been trying to turn her into his version of Scarlet without her noticing it?

"Do not be a fool," Jack said, letting go of Beth. He could not turn Beth into another Scarlet. There was too much that Beth lacked for it to happen. "Go ho. Do not upset more than you have."

"She was right. Do you have any idea what this does to to know that she was right?" Beth questioned, referring to Scarlet.

Jack didn’t love her. He might not have ever felt it. He was just a man who wasn’t getting to sleep with his wife so he turned to soone who allowed him to touch them. A single lie was the only thing keeping her near Jack.

Beth gritted her teeth. It was a mistake to co here to Jack. She shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking they were a happily engaged couple. They were never that from the start since they had been using each other.

Beth used Jack for his money and he used her for her body.

"I will see you later," Beth said, slowly moving away from Jack.

Beth needed ti to think. She was not going to let this fool of a man ruin everything. Dorothy was ant to die, but now she would like for Jack to disappear after the wedding. For his wealth to fall into her hands before he could try throwing her away to go back to Scarlet.

Jack knew that Beth was angry with him because she left without kissing him goodbye as she always did. Recently, he saw another side of Beth that he didn’t like. Now that he wasn’t so caught up in the affair, he could see more about Beth that he didn’t before.

"Kevin, look into what Beth is doing these days and report all of it to . Even if it is just her shopping," said Jack.

"Of course," Kevin answered. It was a little late in his opinion since Beth was pregnant with Jack’s child. Unless Jack would be so cruel as to get rid of her and the baby. ’Would he stop the wedding?’ Kevin wondered.

With how obsessed Jack was when it ca to Scarlet, it made perfect sense in Kevin’s opinion to have the wedding stopped. Jack might be walking himself into another divorce and this ti, it wouldn’t be with a woman who didn’t want his wealth.

"Are we still going to see Lady Collins?" Kevin asked.

"I am not leaving her in the hands of that man," Jack answered, his anger turning to Kevin. What sort of stupid question was that? Scarlet should not be alone with Ian.

Just the thought of Ian touching Scarlet made Jack want to grab a gun and kill the man now. He would lose his mind if he were to ever find out that Scarlet had slept with that bastard. She couldn’t do that. Scarlet was only for him.

"I want her," Jack said, unable to give her up. The only person he wanted to be getting married to now was Scarlet. He had made a mistake but that could be fixed.

Scarlet could co back to him. They had such a simple life before all of this. She would not want to get close to another man all over again. Jack spent years getting to know her. Scarlet would appreciate him more than a man she had just t.

Jack had to see her right now, but there was sothing more important to do. "I need to go see Layla Kingsley," Jack changed his plan. Scarlet wouldn’t listen to him right now so the better plan would be to get rid of Ian first and then go back to Scarlet’s side.

It was true that you didn’t know what you had until you lost it. Jack saw how valuable Scarlet was to him now and he was not going to let her go again. The problem of not having a child could be fixed another way.

They could take in a child or raise the one Beth had as their own. Without him, Beth wouldn’t be able to afford the life she had now so she should be more than willing to give up on the wedding and child to let Scarlet raise it.

"I’m going to fix this, Scarlet," Jack said, confidently. They were once so in love with each other and he would bring back that feeling.
