An Yan gave a noncommittal "oh" and asked no further. For soone like her Second Brother, it would be stranger if he *didn’t* get into fights. At least there was no risk to his life when fighting with his own people!
After breakfast, the rescue helicopter arrived.
Ling Xiao, Ya Zhuo, Liang Chen, and Su Siming, along with An Yan and Li Tianyao, were the first to leave.
An Duxuan also wanted to go but was stopped by Li Tianyao’s n.
"Captain An, please stay to oversee the work."
An Duxuan seethed, "Li Tianyao, don’t push your luck..."
"You can’t beat !"
"I’ll poison you to death!" An Duxuan threatened, raising the small snake in his hand.
Li Tianyao cast a cold glance, and the snake instantly went limp on An Duxuan’s arm, as if its soul had been sucked out.
Defeated once again, An Duxuan could only watch huffily as Li Tianyao followed An Yan onto the plane.
There were only eight seats on the plane. When An Yan boarded, Ling Xiao and the others had already taken their seats.
Overjoyed, Su Siming called out to her, "An Yan, co sit here."
These past few days, he had been wanting to ask An Yan about what happened after she went missing. However, every ti they t, their encounters were pitifully short, and he had no idea what was keeping her so busy. Now that they were about to head back and were on the sa plane, he felt he could finally sit down and have a good talk.
Just as An Yan was about to go over, her wrist was suddenly gripped tightly. Li Tianyao pulled her to a seat at the other end and shut the door between them with a SWISH.
The man’s voice was frighteningly deep. "Wait until I’m dead before you flirt with anyone else."
An Yan was speechless. She frowned. "We’ve already broken up..."
Li Tianyao leaned back in his seat, legs crossed, his body slightly tilted. His eyes, like bottomless abysses, fixated on her, his thin lips curving into a cool, faint smile. "Who agreed to that?"
An Yan genuinely couldn’t understand. "I’m willing to cooperate unconditionally to find Gu Shifang! Why must you put on such an act? Don’t you think it’s aningless?"
"aningless? When you were threatened with a knife, I rescued you. When you were slandered and maligned, I handled it for you. When you fought a shark, I risked exposing myself rather than let you suffer the slightest injury. I’ve done all this for you, and you call it aningless?"
An Yan scoffed. "Did you do it for ? No! You did it to use to find Gu Shifang!"
"Heh." Li Tianyao was furious. "A real ingrate, aren’t you?"
An Yan retorted, incandescent with rage, "Who are you calling an ingrate? You’re constantly on guard against , never speaking a single true word in my presence! What right do you have to call ** an ingrate?"
"Never a true word?"
"That’s right!" An Yan was truly throwing caution to the wind this ti. "Li Tianyao, do you dare deny that you had soone take the blood sample from my lab? Why did you steal your blood sample? What are you afraid of?"
Li Tianyao gazed into her eyes, his expression icy, his own eyes dark and inscrutable. "You stole my blood sample, and you still have the audacity to claim you’re right?"
"I didn’t steal it! Your blood got on my hand at the ti!"
"Who did I shield from that knife? I took a blade for you, and yet you were scheming to get my blood! An Yan, you truly have so audacity!"
"If I hadn’t taken your blood, how would I have known the poison in your system is the sa as mine? How would I have known that the suffering I’ve endured for all these years was your handiwork?"
The man’s expression faltered. "What did you say?"
"Still pretending!" An Yan seethed, clenching her teeth. "I said, I have the sa poison in my body as you do! And I know what this poison does!"
Suddenly, An Yan made her move.
Li Tianyao instinctively blocked.
An Yan had initially thought the confined space would maximize her agility. Unexpectedly, Li Tianyao, who was so formidable and commanding in open areas, still completely overpowered her even in this cramped environnt!
Furious, she grabbed Li Tianyao’s hand and bit down hard!
"An Yan!" The man was clearly flustered for a mont, his fingers clamping tightly around her chin. "Don’t bite !"
Hah! As if I’d stop just because you told to! An Yan’s defiance surged.
But he seed to be using his full strength; she actually couldn’t break free...
Being overpowered and unable to move, An Yan was so angry that tears welled up in her eyes.
「Outside.」
Su Siming stared at the door Li Tianyao had closed and clicked his tongue. "The soundproofing is really good!"
He’d wanted to eavesdrop on what An Yan and Li Tianyao were talking about, but he couldn’t hear a thing!
Liang Chen handed him the phone from beside him. "Just play your matching ga."
Ya Zhuo’s gaze sharpened, his expression turning grim. Soone like An Yan, in his heart, was a woman no man was worthy of. Yet, in front of Li Tianyao, she seed to transform into a completely different person.
Ling Xiao, however, wasn’t particularly bothered. He had already wholeheartedly accepted them as a couple. It was perfectly normal for young lovers to want so private space to themselves!
「In the compartnt,」
An Yan, unable to break free, simply stopped struggling.
Thinking she had given up, Li Tianyao released her. But the next mont, An Yan’s hand shot out like lightning, ripping off the gauze bandage on his hand.
The back of his right hand, which was supposed to be injured, was as smooth as jade, completely flawless!
An Yan raised her eyebrows triumphantly. "Now, what do you have to say for yourself?"
The muscles around the man’s eyes tightened slightly, his gaze fixed on her face. "When were you poisoned?"
An Yan wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but his voice seed to hold a trace of nervousness. She quickly dismissed the thought. How could Li Tianyao possibly be nervous? It must have been the plane’s turbulence affecting his vocal cords!
"While still in my mother’s womb!" she replied.
The man averted his gaze, his fingers habitually toying with the Buddha Beads on his wrist. The movent was rapid, devoid of any ditative calm.
An Yan frowned. "The poison I have is identical to one of the toxins in your blood."
"Li Tianyao, don’t pretend you don’t know! You’re well aware that this poison isn’t sothing just anyone can get their hands on."
"So, it was you! You created this poison to improve your constitution, to achieve immortality! And my mother died because of this poison. You killed my mother!"
Li Tianyao’s brow furrowed slightly. "No! The poison in my body wasn’t my own doing. It was Gu Shifang!"
An Yan stared at him silently.
Li Tianyao raised his hand, gently smoothing the frown from her brow. "Can you guess why he would use so many poisons on ?"
"So it was actually Gu Shifang who wanted to achieve immortality and used you as a test subject?"
"Uh-huh!"
"Are you saying that the poison in , and the poison that killed my mother, were all Gu Shifang’s doing?"
"They should be."
An Yan pondered for a mont, then asked, "If this poison has nothing to do with you, why did you steal the blood sample?"
"Because there’s more than one type of poison in that blood! Little girl, have you ever considered the consequences if these toxins were to spread?"
"You’re afraid I’ll spread the poison?"
Li Tianyao looked at her quietly for a long mont before saying, "I’m afraid that before you could figure anything out, you’d be infected by the virus and die before I do!"
