Lin Ling couldn’t persuade him, so she gave up and went into her dical office to prepare the Snake dicine.
An Yan finished her shower and ca out. She saw the man sitting before the fire. His injured leg was stretched out, the other bent, his elbow propped on his knee, and his slender, beautiful fingers rested against his temple.
When he saw her enter, his eyelids lifted slightly. "Sit!"
An Yan went over and sat on the stool opposite him. "Li Tianyao, I’m actually bait, right?"
"What do you an?"
"There’s sothing about that interests Gu Shifang, so you suspect every man who approaches could be him, correct? Is he interested in this ring?"
An Yan held the ring up in front of Li Tianyao. "You don’t want to have contact with n, not to protect , but to make it easier for you to find Gu Shifang, right?"
"Actually... it doesn’t need to be this troubleso, and you don’t have to coax . Just say the word, and I’ll cooperate with you unconditionally!"
"Because when we first t, I said I could grant you one wish!"
"Your wish is to find Gu Shifang, right? Li Tianyao, I can help you lure him out! But on one condition: you can’t lay a hand on anyone around !"
The man idly turned his Buddha Beads. "How do you propose we do this?"
An Yan said, "Since Gu Shifang wants the ring, I’ll wear it and protect it at all tis, until he makes a move to snatch it. You’ve just witnessed my Combat Power."
"Even if Gu Shifang is as skilled as you, I’m confident I can hold him off for a few minutes. Your n should be able to arrive by then!"
Li Tianyao nodded. "That’s a good idea!"
"Then it’s settled!"
An Yan put the ring on a chain around her neck, then pulled it out from under her clothes, leaving it exposed.
"Where are you going?" Li Tianyao asked.
"I’m going to my second brother’s tent!"
An Duxuan, seeing her erge fresh and clean, quickly opened an umbrella and held it over her head. His eyes flickered with a myriad of strange emotions.
Then, he calculated the ti. My little sister must have taken a bath. Girls take their ti bathing; twenty minutes should be about right. She and Li Tianyao were in the tent together for less than thirty minutes in total. So, Li Tianyao definitely didn’t have ti to do anything!
Once he figured this out, An Duxuan cheerfully asked her, "Did you break up?"
An Yan nodded. We broke up. We’ve reached a cooperative agreent! From now on, I’ll act as bait to lure out Gu Shifang and hand him over to Tianyao. Then we’ll all go our separate ways.
Behind her, Li Tianyao’s gaze pierced the rain, falling on her—deep, cold, and unreadable.
An Duxuan was elated. "Breaking up was the right choice! Li Tianyao is no good!"
"Are you familiar with him, Second Brother?"
"Not particularly. We’ve just been on missions together!"
"You both enlisted in the sa year, right?"
An Duxuan stiffened for a mont. "Yeah."
"He’s from Dragon Squad One. Which squad were you in, Second Brother?"
"Squad Three. But our Squad Three wasn’t bad either! We also accomplished a lot! It’s just that most of our missions were..."
An Duxuan suddenly stopped talking. "Forget it; it’s all in the past. Anyway, Yanyan, rember this: if I had stayed in the military, I wouldn’t have been any worse than him!"
An Yan smiled. "I believe in you, Second Brother! But why did you beco an actor?"
An Duxuan’s expression filled with noticeable pride. "Actually, I was tracking a drug trafficking organization here! They had a connection embedded in the entertainnt industry, and it took a long ti to track down that Fu Xiao!"
"So I disrupted it?" An Yan felt quite embarrassed.
"What does it have to do with you? That idiot Lei Na ssed it up."
An Duxuan seethed at the thought. I could have befriended Fu Xiao! Alas!
"But it doesn’t matter. Lei Na is finished, and Fu Xiao currently has no inco. Even if it’s just to make ends et, he’ll make a move."
An Duxuan looked up at the sky outside. "I just don’t know when this storm will stop! I really want to shut down his operation right now to prevent more people from getting hurt!"
The siblings talked until dinnerti. An Duxuan didn’t want his sister to go out and give that bastard Li Tianyao the satisfaction of seeing her. He went to get their food himself and brought An Yan’s share to her.
Li Tianyao ate in the canteen for the first ti since arriving on the island, and for the first ti, he found he had no appetite.
"Master, shall I invite Miss An Yan over?" Lu Feng asked quietly.
Li Tianyao pushed his plate away. "No need!"
The little girl is furious with right now. If I call her over, who knows what angry things she’ll say.
At eight o’clock in the evening, An Duxuan received a notice: it was his turn for night watch.
They had been on the island for several days, and the coast guards had always stood watch. An Duxuan had thought he wouldn’t need to.
"All the n have to take a turn on watch."
The coast guard who delivered the notice had a dark expression, clearly displeased by what he perceived as An Duxuan’s attempt to shirk duty.
"I was just asking! I didn’t say I wouldn’t do it!"
An Duxuan gathered his things and went out.
Around ten o’clock, just as An Yan was drifting off to sleep, she suddenly saw a figure sneak into the tent.
It was Li Tianyao.
He stood before her bed.
An Yan maintained her usual breathing rhythm, her eyes closed, making no sound or unnecessary movent.
He stood there for what seed like a long while before finally sighing, "Little girl, you don’t want anymore, do you?"
An Yan remained silent.
At that mont, he seed like a big dog abandoned by its owner. But she quickly hardened her heart. A big dog? He’s a wolf, a lion, a leopard! Pitying him would only lead to being devoured, with not even my bones left behind!
"Why can’t you trust unconditionally, just as I trust you?"
An Yan almost wanted to laugh. He still had the nerve to accuse her of not trusting him? How could she trust him? If she continued to trust him, would any man who rely spoke a word to her be captured and tortured by him?
His fingers gently traced her eyebrows and nose, finally resting on her lips.
An Yan forced herself to remain still.
A mont later, she felt a cool sensation on her lips. The man’s lips pressed lightly against hers. He didn’t move, just stayed there.
He remained like that until An Yan couldn’t bear it any longer and was about to open her eyes to fight him again, but then he pulled away.
The girl continued to feign sleep. Disappointed, the man turned and left.
Not far away, An Duxuan, clad in a raincoat, ground his teeth and charged forward.
I knew tonight’s watch schedule was strange! That scoundrel Li Tianyao, his wicked desires haven’t died! He took advantage of my absence to harass my sister!
「The next day, the storm finally stopped.」
The sun peeked out from behind the clouds.
As soon as An Yan got up, she saw her second brother with a bruised and swollen face.
"What happened to you?"
With frustration and anger in his eyes, An Duxuan hesitated for several monts before explaining, "Last night, I was on watch! I was attacked by a wild beast on the island."
