She remained silent, feeling extrely awkward, until the butler suddenly ca in saying, "The cousin is here!" Only then did she let out a sigh of relief.
"Cousin is here, I’m going to greet him, Grandpa, Mom and Dad, Sister, and Brother-in-law, enjoy your al!" She bowed and then quickly ran off.
Mr. Li intended to call her out for lacking manners but, after glancing at Lu Beiyao, swallowed his words.
Li ngru blushed and whispered to Lu Beiyao beside her, "She’s just screaming nonsense; don’t mind her."
"I know!" Lu Beiyao curled his lips slightly, three tis he had emphasized, yet that girl still ran off so eagerly. "Do you actually have a cousin?"
"Yes, my uncle’s son. After dinner, I’ll take you to et him?"
Li ngru ntioned casually, as Lu Beiyao was never interested in her friends, thus not knowing she had a cousin, but unexpectedly he responded, "Alright!"
Li Siru felt liberated, eagerly running to Zhou Ju’an, "Cousin, you ca at just the right ti! If you didn’t co, I would suffocate at the dining table!"
"Whenever you eat, don’t you feel stifled? Whether I’m here or not, you have to eat!" Zhou Ju’an shook his head. "Is Grandpa and Aunt and Uncle still eating? Then I’ll wait a bit before greeting them to avoid disturbing!"
"Yes, yes, don’t go!" Li Siru said, clinging to his arm, "Finally you’re here, cousin; without you, I have no one to talk to in this house."
"Isn’t your sister back? By the way, I heard Lu Beiyao is at your ho lately. Are they really getting engaged?" Zhou Ju’an asked curiously.
"Probably!" Li Siru pouted unhappily, "Because Lu Beiyao is here, Grandpa is afraid I’ll embarrass myself, so he doesn’t let appear in front of them, and I haven’t seen my sister twice since she returned ho. Last ti we t, she told not to upset Grandpa or argue with Mom and Dad, then she left on bad terms."
"She’s doing it for your own good!"
"I know! But I..." She was speaking when she noticed Lu Beiyao and Li ngru approaching, and froze.
"Hello, cousin!" Li ngru was the first to greet.
Zhou Ju’an smiled back, "Long ti no see! ngru, being abroad for so many years, you’ve grown more beautiful!"
"Sisi, you’re not a child anymore, why are you still clinging to cousin?"
Li ngru shook her head with a smile, prompting Li Siru to finally stand straight.
She kept holding onto Zhou Ju’an, leaning on his arm, looking extrely dependent on him, even with a hint of coquettishness.
"With you away from ho for so many years, Sisi only had , the cousin, for company! My relationship with Sisi now is better than between you two sisters!"
"Apparently, it seems so! Sisi doesn’t even act this warmly towards as a sister now!"
"But you co back and imdiately want to get married, making you less familiar with your younger sister!"
They joked and laughed together, while Li Siru felt Lu Beiyao’s gaze was sowhat odd, sending chills down her spine; she had no idea what to do, so she turned her face away.
Li ngru took note of this and glanced back at Lu Beiyao, finding him standing there calmly, no different from usual.
"I’ll go inside and greet the elders first!"
After Zhou Ju’an spoke, Li Siru quickly released him, "I won’t follow you; cousin, I’ll wait for you in the room!"
Wait in the room?!
Li Siru only felt a cold glare shoot through her, causing her to shiver and turn toward her room.
Li ngru laughed and shook her head, "Cousin practically grew up in our house with us; he and Sisi have been close since childhood. Grandpa even considered marrying Sisi off to him."
Lu Beiyao frowned, "Aren’t they cousins?"
"Cousin is my uncle’s adopted child!"
Lu Beiyao nodded and fell silent.
