It was uncertain how much ti had passed when Alianna, the Drow who had suffered a horrifying triple hemorrhage after trying the concentrated, extra-spicy Anger Potion, finally stirred and ca to.
However, her body, which was originally far paler than typical Drow skin due to her mixed heritage, was now bright red and veiny, her features swollen and contorted into a grotesque appearance.
If soone were to point her out to the Drow downstairs and claim she was a genuine Red Dragonkin Drow, no one would likely question it.
Alianna cast a deep look at David, the smile at the corners of his mouth unashadly broad, and asked the question she desperately hoped to have affird,
"Can the capsaicin be re-extracted?"
"Impossible, absolutely impossible."
David didn’t hesitate to outright reject her request. "Not to ntion, it has already been bonded with the base spirit during concoction. You wouldn’t be able to separate it even if you sought the help of an Alchemist.
"Besides, that’s my signature, David Uthos’s debut in the alchemy business!
"Are you trying to ruin my reputation? Huh?"
"HISS!" Alianna winced, pressing a hand to her forehead.
The Drow behind her shifted their gazes away, unable to bear the sight.
Because they noticed that Lady Alianna’s rear end had started to bleed again.
It wasn’t that they were insensitive to their leader’s suffering. Rather, they feared they might accidentally burst out laughing and be cut down by Lady Alianna, who was currently in the throes of Wrath—what a terrible injustice that would be!
Alianna was not only disoriented by the ’rage’ from the undiluted Anger Potion but was genuinely suffering from a headache.
She had never before encountered such a ludicrous situation.
Usually, when they received smuggled potions, they lanted their low potency, often resorting to mixing in Hallucinatory Potions or even li powder to enhance the effects.
But the potency of this particular batch was absurdly high. Based on her years of experience, even if they diluted it to the minimum effective concentration, it would likely still cause their throats to spew fire.
It was clearly stated that this was their signature Anger Potion!
There was no room for change.
And no possibility of change.
Indeed, only soone with a few screws loose, like a Red Dragon, could co up with this! Alianna fud internally, rolling her eyes. Her brain, after crashing and rebooting once more, belatedly processed sothing:
"Wait a minute!
"This is... a potion you concocted personally?" Alianna involuntarily switched to using honorifics.
If that was true, then this wasn’t a re one-off transaction.
It was the prospect of a long-term, stable, and inexpensive supply!
Alianna was about to strike it rich!
So what if the Anger Potion contained capsaicin difficult for the average person to endure!
She had suffered just now because she tasted the undiluted concentration directly.
After all, spiciness is just a type of pain.
Once on the battlefield, with adrenaline surging, this negative effect should beco tolerable when diluted a hundredfold.
The only uncertainty was whether this substance might also affect their stomachs or nstrual cycles.
Even though Drow generally lacked sha, the thought of them being overwheld on the battlefield by their own potion—hissing in pain from the spice while bleeding from below—was almost too much to bear.
Setting aside pride, such gastrointestinal distress could indeed impact logistical efficiency.
But Alianna instantly thought of a solution: if her Drow couldn’t handle it, they could sell half the stock to the High Elves on the surface. After all, with such a large supply, dumping it all in Spider Nest City might cause the price to plumt.
Perhaps David, standing before her, hadn’t realized that the ingredient he’d hastily added to the potion—rely to avoid upsetting the delicate balance between the Drow and High Elves—was already showing signs of becoming a widespread scourge, even before it was officially sold.
"Do you need to repeat what I said before?" Upon hearing the Drow’s question, David displayed a trace of discontent.
Wrath
Arrogance
"No! Sorry, I got a bit carried away because of the spiciness."
Alianna, the usually assertive Drow, imdiately lowered her head in apology, leaving the other Drow staring in astonishnt.
Was this still the resolute Glowblade Alianna they knew?
This Anger Potion must be fake!
If they had drunk this undiluted Anger Potion and faced such an aggressive individual, they would likely have drawn their blades and attacked by now.
Alianna’s following words plunged them all into silence.
"But your status is far too distinguished, and this batch of goods is too fine, not to ntion the quantity is too large. It has co to a point where my humble position grants no right to decide.
"So, may I trouble you to wait here for a mont?
"I need to take this sample back to Spider Nest City and see Mistress Flavia.
"She must personally set the price for this batch of goods."
Before David could speak, she spread her hands and added jokingly,
"Most importantly, as you can see, even if I were to sell everything of value in this stronghold, it wouldn’t cover the worth of these goods, would it?
"I must have my Mistress’s permission to open the family treasury to get the money."
David stared into the Drow’s eyes, his pupils narrowing dangerously into vertical slits. The Drow across from him, however, maintained a dignified yet respectful smile, seemingly awaiting his response.
Damn it, now I have to deal directly with a Drow Matriarch?
David felt a surge of annoyance.
Such a high-level being was not soone he could currently contend with; getting entangled could put him at a severe disadvantage.
But at the sa ti, David reminded himself:
At tis like this, I must not hesitate, show weakness, or exhibit even the slightest hint of frailty.
This wisdom ca from the Dragon legacy, from ancestors who had dealt with the Drow for many years.
Drow are just a bunch who bully the weak and fear the strong.
Until they fully grasp your capabilities, the tougher your stance, the more they will hesitate and second-guess their sches.
Besides, upon further reflection, the danger this ti wasn’t actually that high.
As long as that Drow Matriarch possessed a modicum of foresight and intelligence, she would never refuse such a long-term source of goods.
And Century Aroma’s characteristic—its magical effect wearing off after three hours—actually served as a safeguard for him in this situation.
For a stable supply, the Drow would have to let him return to the surface. This even eliminated the possibility of them confining him to exclusively craft potions for them.
With this in mind, David adopted a nonchalant yet slightly impatient smile.
"Go ahead, but make it quick.
"Even among Red Dragons,
"My patience is not that great."
The Drow, visibly excited, instantly replied,
"Half an hour! Wait for for half an hour! I will rush back at full speed!"
To demonstrate her absolute sincerity, Alianna once again lifted the dagger previously dipped in the undiluted Anger Potion and took a large lick.
Then, to everyone’s astonishnt, she vaulted over the second-floor balustrade. With flas spewing from her throat and blood streaming from her rear, she bolted at full speed towards the main sector of Spider Nest City.
"AHHHHHH! IT’S SO SPICY, IT’S KILLING !!!"
"SPICYYYYY!!!"
"...Quite a character," David remarked.
This bizarre spectacle, even in a place like Spider Nest City where anything could happen, was truly sensational.
It left all the passersby utterly stunned.
